Its nothing new in America. The two "approved parties" are controlled by the elite, though lobbying and campaign contributions. There is an illusion of free choice...but actually Americans are only allowed to vote for candidates that the American oligarchs approve. All other candidates are marginalized by the media that the very same oligarchs also control.
both parties have the monopoly of power, they created campaign laws to make it virtually impossible for a third party to have a chance at challenging the Old Guard
so, after all the election campaign in NY is not so different from one in Russia
