I do have the 1.06 update. I didn't do anything special with the zoom. I just pressed and held the controller upward. I have not experienced the same problems with the zoom stopping. I have had a lot of fun with the ZI8, however, I don't think the digital zoom is too useful.

@ 0:42 how do you get the zi8 to zoom like that, becuse on mine it zooms in a little, stops, then zooms in little more, stops, and so on...
