Poor Bus for being in a ditch, Poor Truck for having to Pull it and yes Living in the Blue mountains my self I know some of those hills can be tough on any clutch (My Old car coming up Victoria Pass aka Mt Victoria heading up from hartley I could feel my clutch letting go luckily I made it up just and crawled the Car back to Blaxland in the lower mountains easy since it was all down hill and wasnt pushing the clutch replaced the clutch later that week)
It doesn't show but it was a long very steep hill, the clutch was stuffed and the bus stopped halfway up. It's a 60 foot bus n car trailer he had to pull.
If I am not mistaken this sounds like a Mack E9 V8 and depending on the specs should be around 500HP@1900rpm and 2173Nm (1603lbsft) of torque @ 1350rpm. The E9 Mack has been well renowned for decades as being the toughest thing around. This driver obviously owns the truck and knows that there is absolutely no point in trying to pull a higher gear.
older truck, might not have tons o hp/torque but hes doin it right. hes towing a bus and trailer outa the ditch on a kinda steep hill and then up the hill, not drag racing
@blobjrghf It looks like a steep incline, and I'm guessing that they couldn't start in a higher gear. And changing up at such low speed, steep grade and with a heavy (sort of) load is probably not possible. Although you might be right in it not being the most powerful of trucks.

@Below, well, I think it would depend on torque, and by what it looks, it basicly has none.
