to the person who said this was half live--no isaw the small faces twice and the faces with stewart twice---they were so good you may have thought it was fake
What a performer! Every thing Steve does, singing or playing , with Small Faces or Humble Pie , he does with complete conviction, as if each song was his greatest hit!
I am in awe of his guitar playing! I have said before that Frampton got the guitar credit in Humble Pie, but it was Marriott that made that band without a doubt! (Frampton is awesome though)
you tube you bas770932 boot ronnie so hip my year 1968 go to that place live life friends go people luvin things free times rough you know smoke a doobie blow your mind go to the moon mars catscannon dogflop younggun next move
Fantastic! So far as i know there is no other song about a baker( someone who makes bread). I exclude Ma baker, Baker St. etc as these are names. Am I wrong about this? Its been bothering me maybe I should get out more....
great clip twist, I'm a 58 yr. old American and got to see Steve with Humble Pie in 71. Wish I could have seen him with the Small Faces. Great clip especially at that 2:40 mark with him showing so much intensity during his solo, loved the wiping of the face. Ogdens Nut Gone Flake is one of the all time best albums.
Actually, they did pretty good after SF left, cos the Faces became the biggest band in the world for a while (certainly biggest live band) and easily outsold the Small Faces. The early Faces albums are brilliant, with RS as a rocker before he met Britt and went all wimpy !
Marriott-Lane wrote some great songs. Some duff ones too (fillers on albums) !, but Ogdens Nut Gone Flake was great, probably their only album with no fillers, all the tracks are pretty strong. Miss them
yep, they don't come any better than this mate.. Steve Marriott is the man and always will be, too cool for words, just watch and weep tears of joy and sadness... I love Ronnie in this vid too, look at the pair of them... awesome, the whole band... I'm sorry but you can keep yer jaggers and yer richards, these guys are real deal
Oh am so happy to read your comment, I agree and I say it all the time - in Rock music there was no one finer and most likely never will be then Marriott and he only played with the best because he WAS the best - there ya have it. Cheers!
Cheers to you too, Marriott the king... was lucky enough to see him a few times with the DTs and Packet of 3,... Pie and Small Faces were before my time, but great to have access to these vids now...
sad thing I forgot to add was by the time they got this far the music suits had put the bug in his ear to change the group up a bit. One has to wonder where they could have gone from here if he stayed. Trouble with the SF's was they worked so hard to earn a rep & the suits in the industry sabatoged them every step.Being as young as they were it was prob harder for them at that time to see the bad biz side as clearly til it was too late & happy days toy town just kinda folded up shop, so sad.
I can't say it enough & I say it all the time NOBODY to me & I MEAN NOBODY was or is better then Marriott! Hands down he owns ROCK music. Just watch him! His love of this band is so genuine! He's "it" & that's that to me, & the people he played with - Good! God! Ronnie Lane amazingly gifted, Jones a GREAT drummer & MAC wow ! I rest my case & I haven't even begun to talk about Humble Pie yet!! Aww Marriott, threw away the mold when they made him. The older I get the more I miss Marriott.
So excellent. I love how Steve Mariott wipes his face in the middle of his solo. Coolest, COOLEST man ever. Would have liked to have seen him live (and alive).
Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake is possibly the coolest album ever. I've been making comaprisons for years and think this is it. Framptom Comes Alive was cool, but Small faces sticks in my mind.
The TV series 'Sounds of the Sixties' came along in 1991, a particularly duff year for British rock. I ate it up like a starving dog, and still think these 60s bands made some of the best rock 'n' roll of all time. Anyone who doesn't love the instrumental break is clearly mentally and physically dead.

This will be a naive question. I kinda got the feeling that this was half live. The drums were dubbed but the rest was live. Am I wrong?

Steve is a god awful poser in this clip, but damn its a great song. They were even better live!

Around 2 min mark with the bass, really reminds of Hey Joe for some reason. Really great song by the way.
