@bellabelliboo In Troyka the leading horse is being changed after it becomes tired so they can keep up for a very long time and cover great distances.
They are not forced. They move their heads in all directions. The harness for a troika is very light-- the horses are free to stretch and work. It's for long distances and they move at different gaits to conserve energy. Would be impossible to torture an animal for long distance in the snow and expect him to live the next day :o
