As for Alberta, If you go there, many people in the city of Edmonton are sometimes forced to wear mouth covers because of the air. To all the climategaters, I would venture to say that since the 1930's scientists have been making claims about man's affect on the climate. The IPCC has been doing studies since the 80's (30 years of research) that all are peer-reviewed and concidered consentual by more than 700 international scientists about global warming. I do not know the truth but would say maybe you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the effect we have on the planet.

Goverments and politians aren't releasing technology. Corporations are. The problem is corporations own governments. What politians should be doing is passing laws to force out the technology for clean energy and the relase of barried patents. here's a simple fact- too much co2 kills humans [and much of what humans need to survive]. so, lowering our emissions is good. it seems that the problem is the way to do such a thing. big ideas to continue growing big industries won't help much, there are very simple solutions, but they require personal commitment and responsibility, which is something that the PR industry works very hard to destroy.
Too much C02 is good for plants that create more options which is good for humans.
Lowering C02 = less air for plants and less C02 which is less oxygen for us.

The problem with climate change is that Canadians don't trust the government to tax our way out of the problem(carbon tax, cap and trade, etc.). The Canadian people would rather see investment in alternative fuels and things of that sort(i.e. Frank Stronach wants to begin producing electric cars, and we gave billions to GM in bailout money, so why not strike a deal to invest in Stonach as well?).

The cost for Tar sand mining that I mentioned is based on current technologies. New extraction methods like using Hyperion Power Generation are expected to lower extraction costs in the future, making this a less risky investment.

At this time all the hydrocarbons being extracted form the ground in the form of Oil and Gas was once present in the atmosphere as CO2. Plants and trees absorbed this CO2 and when they died they decayed for millions of years underground to produce Oil and Gas.

Carbon sinks sometimes break down for one reason or another. Methane sinks too! (the Russian Tundras could release billions of tons of Methane into the atmosphere due to co2 warming) Its called a Tipping point. Methane is MUCH worse than co2!

It is estimated that the amount of energy a solar cell produces in it's entire lifetime (20 years) is almost equal to the amount of energy that was required to produce the cell in the first place. Global Warming IS a fact and It has been proven many times by scientists and the outside-science proof exists in the dramatically changing weather patterns influenced by CO2. Examples include Hurricane Katrina, The frost line reducing and spreading up infectious deseases and the Mountain Pine Beetle, and the melting of arctic ice on both hemispheres.

To all the climategaters, I would venture to say that since the 1930's scientists have been making claims about man's affect on the climate. The IPCC has been doing studies since the 80's (30 years of research) that all are peer-reviewed and concidered consentual by more than 700 international scientists about global warming. I do not know the truth but would say maybe you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the effect we have on the planet.

here's a simple fact- too much co2 kills humans [and much of what humans need to survive]. so, lowering our emissions is good. it seems that the problem is the way to do such a thing. big ideas to continue growing big industries won't help much, there are very simple solutions, but they require personal commitment and responsibility, which is something that the PR industry works very hard to destroy.

Too much C02 is good for plants that create more options which is good for humans.
Lowering C02 = less air for plants and less C02 which is less oxygen for us.
If we are cutting down trees by the metric ton daily thats not good. If we have clean tech being surpressed by corps buying off politians that's not good. If we are taxing c02 which will bankrupt coal and force $ to oil companies thats not good. That will further the monopology and more incentive to remains status quo.

The problem with climate change is that Canadians don't trust the government to tax our way out of the problem(carbon tax, cap and trade, etc.). The Canadian people would rather see investment in alternative fuels and things of that sort(i.e. Frank Stronach wants to begin producing electric cars, and we gave billions to GM in bailout money, so why not strike a deal to invest in Stonach as well?).

I am proud of Canada for not being strong armed into signing up for a costly climate change agenda. We have many Canadian Researchers not tied to Oil companies who disagree with the CO2 model for climate change. If Canada really wanted to make a change they would end urban sprawl. In Kelowna they brought in a waste pickup service that requires double the number of large trucks on the road(Automatic instead of hand pickup). I think a debate on CO2 evidence should be presented LIVE!!!

The idea about CO2 killing plants cannot be dismissed because plants also need Oxygen to breath. If you have an environment of pure CO2 the a plant will of course die!

Plants extract CO2 and H2O (water) from the atmosphere and soil and by using energy from sunlight convert it in to hydrocarbons like carbohydrates and other forms of food for animals. They release Oxygen as a byproduct of this reaction.

Carbon sinks sometimes break down for one reason or another. Methane sinks too! (the Russian Tundras could release billions of tons of Methane into the atmosphere due to co2 warming) Its called a Tipping point. Methane is MUCH worse than co2!
But Carbon molecules are 'black' & burning fosil fuel releases SOOT, which in turn traps heat.
One thing is for sure we don't KNOW for sure what the result of our pollution will be.. so why risk it when we already have FREE renewable energy??!

Lots of chemicals were listed, and guess what, after periods of melting, the ocean released carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide doesn't drive temperature, its the other way around. If there was a singular bank of "evidence" and if it all came from the same place and the same scientific field you might have a point. But that is not the case. The evidence for Global Warming (and man-made global warming) spans different fields. What you are talking about is a handful of "scientists" accused of breaking the rules (scientific method). But even with that, there remains the REST of the scientists out there (99.9% of them) and their research.

I don't much care what you or your friends think regarding what constitutes "common sense". What constitutes a common view simply means the view that is the most popular or which is the most widely held in your environment. Just because "common sense" stated that the earth was flat didn't mean the earth was flat now did it? Just because conventional wisdom stated that cutting people open and letting their blood drain would release the demons and cure disease didn't mean it worked.
