I'll tell you guys why I cried... We recently put my dog down because he was old and I grew up with him just like Mika did. I loved him to bits and he was my comfort. What hurts me most is I didn't get to say goodbye to him before my dad took him. I wasn't home. It's been a few days and I can't stop thinking about him. I miss him so much and my friend showed me this to help relieve my grief. In a sense it does and it makes me sadder. RIP Harley.

It's to let us know that Mika didn't really mean that she hated Marimo, and wished she'd never kept a dog. She was just overwhelmed by her sadness. But after the tears were gone, she came back to herself, went to the beach, and thought that actually "I still wanna have dogs."
