yes i always consider protools as a recorder tape substitute, it's not realy cool for me using midi and virtual instrument with that compare to logic, nuendo or cubase, that's why i jump on record reason, the sequencer for drum machine are very stable and the rex player made a madness of possibility, with record now i just need export the multitrack to do a mastering in other daw or a pro audio studio.
@girotube What makes the two Apps communicating with each other pointless? The SSL console clearly does what it suppose to do.. And pro tools does its job.. music has been created in other apps. then bounced down to pro tools for a long time.. Grant it Pro Tools is a much stronger and better software. Reason work flow and processing is lighter on any ones PC or Mac. I agree, double the work should not be done. but it gives more to add to what you have already.
@snapshot1 OK before you hit your self in the head! let me tell you that PT is not the best DAW out there! I've been using DAW software far too long to know this.
Better than Reason yes, but thats where the line ends...
Second! Pro Tools is used in mayor rec studios as a tape recorder. The software it self is very poor and slow. constantly dithering in the background even a simple fade..
Lets see!
Pro Tools 8 $299
Nuendo 5 $2,000 - 32bit float since 1998 with Cubase VST32
Not trying to win a posting battle! just giving you some real facts. BY the way! say good bye to the word Digidesign and also to the Pro Tools" HD" hardware.
Also so you know! 44khz is already "HD" if you know about recording digitally and what happend to the signal being recorded that the signal has to be double from 22k to 44k. Anything over that is plain BS
A vocal been recorded at 192Khz, when human voice may go up to 6k or less?
@girotube Your post is still here! lol.. And you're right pro tools is just a recorder, that sloww the shit out your system. But it's a good recorder. For the money, hey, what do you expect. Some people have to go with what their pockets can afford. I run both Pro tools and Record. And very satisfied with it. Even though Pro tools hick ups often. it's not a bad DAW.
how do you print to audio in pro tools?

This is pointless. What happened to the so called SSL in Record? WHY create a recording software if you can't even mix in it? NO VST...! mmmmh!
LOL record in "record then bounce to "Pro Troll"? So lame.
DOUBLE WORK...!
Stick with the pionees of true Virtual Studio Technology, STEINBERG.
An other reason why I did not upgrade my REASON 2.5 LOL

...but if I already have a DAW (like protools or cubase) and reason, I see no use for record...

thats actually truye

Because Record doesn't process VST or VSTi plug-ins in their FX loop is the reason you would. No pun intended.
BitKrusher 2 years ago
But if my DAW does process VST plugins, why use record? Is my question...
grumo81 2 years ago
Exactly the SSL retro emulation in almost perfect.
BitKrusher 2 years ago
@grumo81 I would say that the "reason" you'd use Record if you already have another DAW is that Record's SSL board sounds amazing . . . .
soulgriot 2 years ago
That makes more sense, thanks!

Using the mixing console in record with pro tools is cool as well.
