Hog the ball and stayed on the left side till it was halftime (IDK about you guys, but sometimes the Goers would just keep going in circles in the same spot so it was really easy for me to avoid them lol), equipped and used the Jecht Shot, when Wakka came on, used his Venom Shot and scored. In the end it was 0-2. xD
Best way to beat the Goers imo is to level Tidus up and to make sure he has Jecht Shot. Keep passing the ball to Tidus and back to some guy on your side of the field to level him up. Then equip Jecht Shot and hopefully you'll only get blocked by 2 people when going to their goal.
When Playing I don't always look at the gameplay but at the map at the bottom right. If any red arrows (enemies) come into your players circle (I call it personal space), they'll be up for defence. Make sure you avoid Graav and let datto approach the goal coz he can take better hits. However make sure it's only one defender he has to take a tackle from. NEVER two people if a defender is one of them.
Tidus: only use him if he's in the clear right in front of the goal. Balgerda pisses me off

I didn't get the jecht shot but I still managed to beat this match. And beating blitzball took me years to figure out. What I did was have Tidus score at least 2 sphere shots. While the rest of the time I went defense in order to prevent the Goers from scoring, until Wakka comes in and then scores one more goal. Basically I had to make a good defense in order to make a good offense, which worked out great.
I WON!!!!! YAY!!!!! Thanks so much for the tutorial! I also found it helpful to try and get the Goer's right attacker (which ever one is closest to tidus/wakka) and lure them into the bottom right corner of the field. Hopefully wakka/tidus stays to the left behind the goer's defender and then the person with the ball can throw it to him. It's all open water from then on. That's how i scored both times. Good luck to anyone trying to win!

My current blitzball team: LF: Tidus RF: Brother MF: Pah Guado LD: Vilucha RD: Jassu GL: Yuma Guado Jassu is a BEAST when it comes to defense. Wither shot 1 & 2 equipped on him. Pah Guado, only for his high passing. Great for Midfield. All I need is Nimrook, then my team will be complete. I only got Yuma Guado only because he is a SLIGHTLY better Goalie instead of Keepa. Unfortunately, he can't use Super Goalie :(
After about.... 25 tries, I finally did it! I finally beat the Luca Goers! I just did the Jecht Shot on the second half, then camped out behind Keepa until 3:00.
After Wakka came in, I started to get spooked. I thought they were going to score. Lucky me, Bickson went close to the goal, but he just passed the ball. However, Letty stole the ball and then I just camped out until the game ended.
Score was 0-1.
I don't think I would ever be able to do that again!

I just can't win this match at all. I've even tried being cheap and going behind my own goalie because supposedly the Goers will stop following you if you do but I've never seen that happen.
I don't play with the subtitles on. I can't stand it, I can hear them just fine! When it came to this game. I restarted and listened to that damn cut scene so many times that I started just talking in sync with them. x.x

@TommyVercetti214 I've got a 1.8ghz processor and they recommend 2.7, it runs at 100% most of the time, sometimes 60-70-80 or 110-120-130 percentages which can be ok. Attacks like demi makes it slow for a few seconds, walking the road after luca is quite slow, but it's worth it
@jspaz0 On the boat going to Luca, talk with everyone and then go to the ball at the front part at the boat. Save before cause you have to pass a mini-game, it's easy but you never know...
I once did this without Jecht Shot. Jecht Shot doesn't even help though. The Goers Goalie will block nearly anything. You just need to get lucky. And I hate how breakthroughs work. Sometimes the Goers do 4 more damage than it says.
@borntodie297 Yeah, Jecht shot makes it incredibly easy. Well that and keeping the ball away from the Luca Goers helps too, I just kept passing it back and forth amongst my teammates until near the end of the first half in which I just did a Jecht shot.
The second half, I got the ball from the Luca Goers, repeated the process and somehow managed to get past their goalie with Wakka for a score of 2-0, lol. Definitely "history in the making"!

@Bryoshe no ps3 XD got a Wii though, and I've tried downloading ps1, gamecube, ps2, etc. emulators, the only ones I can get working are mostly by nintendo, NES, SNES, N64, GBA. GBC, Nintendo DS, etc. I don't think my computer can handle bigger systems

Aditional advice for the first half, as you did, turn auto off, then when you set it to manual, set the additional Right Side priority, then get as far to the right side as you can. After a little while, the computer will give up, and send all it's players to stew in midfield. This is useful because the computer will not gain any exp from tackling you, just pass between Tidus, Jassu and either Lenny or Botta to rack up the exp, you can easily get all three to level 4 if you do it right.
@vc180191 When I used this, the computer only got 2 exp on Graav, while I got enough that Lenny was at level 4, Jassu at level three and Tidus at level 5, which gave me an unfair advantage as with extreme luck, I actually pulled off two Jecht Shots with Tidus's now nearly 240 hp in the second half (close call, Had to mash the square to shoot instantly after passing from Datto to him, but I pulled off two Jecht Shots in the second half, reducing Tidus to 1 hp just as Wakka gets called on)
@ThePalisky its not an emulator that's gonna emulate blitzball, an emulator emulates a console. But what you want to do is just play blitzball, so what u neeed to do is get the ffx iso, or cd and try to search for a save state in one of the ps2 emulator forums and save it and load it into the emulator.
This match is so simple when i think back to it i used to struggle when i first played. you just use sphere shot or jecht shot with tidus and ur sorted. if you wanna be adventurous u use nap shot with datto and hope for the best :) blitzball ftw
I don't know why you wouldn't just use Jecht Shot to score, it's a 100% chance to score when you're close to their goal. I usually get 1 score in the first half with Tidus and Jecht Shot, and then 1 in the 2nd half with Wakka
I scored during the first half. I feel super proud. Fool proof tactic. Pass to the guy with the highest pass, swim into the goal untill all of the opposing team assembles on a straight line and pass it to Tidus, who will be on the other side, bypassing their entire defense. Swim up to the goalie, shoot and hope for a goal.

I have a Blitzball question, is there anyway I can know when the prize for a tournament will change? if it after a certain amount of steps or actions or battles?
When I got here, I barely knew how to play, much less which tactics were good. The Goers would often get the ball at kickoff, reach my goal, knock out the defenders, and score without any input from me.
And I only had the Sphere Shot.
Since defense didn't work, I just attacked suicidally, overwhelmed the Goer defense, and Sphere Shot-ed the goal. Took a few tries, but it worked out of luck.

So, I finally cheated myself 99 goals - I thought it was correct for Wakka to win the last match. Next playthrough I lost 2 to 1.
I remeber when i beat them my first time...it was 1-1 going into half time...i was super worried, then Wakka came in and totally scored for me!!! It was like it was meant to be...you know with his retirement and all haha
I've seriously given up on trying to win Blitzball. I've had this game for 3 years now and I never won, I have never scored a goal either. And yes, I did the tutorial.
I'm playing it right now and when the first blitzoff starts, the Luca's get it and go to my goal, I have a 3 persons blocking him, he breaks through and shoots and it's a goal. There's NOTHING I could've done to prevent that from happening.
the match is easy, but you basically need jecht shot or you're boned. A few things to keep in mind is, give the ball to tidus. Don't just charge towards the goal and let the AI start the tackle fight. If you do that, you'll have to deal with 3-4 guys on you. Instead, let them tackle you one by one when they get close. Not only will you proceed forward, but the guy who failed at tackling you will be much further away. When you're finally RIGHT next to the goal, jecht shot
in all 20 times of trying to win, i only scored 1 fucking point. then i realized that there was more to final fantasy then some weapon wakka's gonna sell soon. so yeah -__-
The easiest way to obtain the Jecht Shot on the boat is to rapidly press X and move your left analog stick in every direction. It worked for me nicely! ;)
This really depends on luck. If the goers get the ball first you can already assume they WILL score. For the first round do as the video does and keep away. In the second round if you get the ball first, have letty lure the goers away from tidus/wakka but just enough so you don't encounter them and so you can throw a safe pass. Once you have lured them away you can freely pass to tidus/wakka and you will have only one opposing player. Skill shot and GOAL!!
i beat them using jech shot and venon shot from wakka since both shot increase the SH and also a god thing to do on this game is on the first round put more people on defense and do not let the goers make a goal on the first round because your lose chance will increase by over 40%

@TommyVercetti214 I've got a 1.8ghz processor and they recommend 2.7, it runs at 100% most of the time, sometimes 60-70-80 or 110-120-130 percentages which can be ok. Attacks like demi makes it slow for a few seconds, walking the road after luca is quite slow, but it's worth it

@jspaz0 On the boat going to Luca, talk with everyone and then go to the ball at the front part at the boat. Save before cause you have to pass a mini-game, it's easy but you never know...

I once did this without Jecht Shot. Jecht Shot doesn't even help though. The Goers Goalie will block nearly anything. You just need to get lucky. And I hate how breakthroughs work. Sometimes the Goers do 4 more damage than it says.

dont remember how but defeated them 4-0 on one of my playthroughs.
and yes one shot was with a jecht shot.
this mini game is also damned easy when tidus is capable of using jecht shot frequently. had no problem beating all cups due to it :P

@borntodie297 Yeah, Jecht shot makes it incredibly easy. Well that and keeping the ball away from the Luca Goers helps too, I just kept passing it back and forth amongst my teammates until near the end of the first half in which I just did a Jecht shot.
The second half, I got the ball from the Luca Goers, repeated the process and somehow managed to get past their goalie with Wakka for a score of 2-0, lol. Definitely "history in the making"!

@Lukefonfabre9 uhm 1USD= 0,7euro... but years ago 1 euro was less than a dollar ^^ ...you can find them on ebay, but I guess they are not so cheap...you can check also for pal version (and play them on emulator on pc ^^) or buy them on PS Store if you have ps3 or psp!

@Bryoshe no ps3 XD got a Wii though, and I've tried downloading ps1, gamecube, ps2, etc. emulators, the only ones I can get working are mostly by nintendo, NES, SNES, N64, GBA. GBC, Nintendo DS, etc. I don't think my computer can handle bigger systems

Aditional advice for the first half, as you did, turn auto off, then when you set it to manual, set the additional Right Side priority, then get as far to the right side as you can. After a little while, the computer will give up, and send all it's players to stew in midfield. This is useful because the computer will not gain any exp from tackling you, just pass between Tidus, Jassu and either Lenny or Botta to rack up the exp, you can easily get all three to level 4 if you do it right.

@vc180191 When I used this, the computer only got 2 exp on Graav, while I got enough that Lenny was at level 4, Jassu at level three and Tidus at level 5, which gave me an unfair advantage as with extreme luck, I actually pulled off two Jecht Shots with Tidus's now nearly 240 hp in the second half (close call, Had to mash the square to shoot instantly after passing from Datto to him, but I pulled off two Jecht Shots in the second half, reducing Tidus to 1 hp just as Wakka gets called on)

@ThePalisky its not an emulator that's gonna emulate blitzball, an emulator emulates a console. But what you want to do is just play blitzball, so what u neeed to do is get the ffx iso, or cd and try to search for a save state in one of the ps2 emulator forums and save it and load it into the emulator.

This match is so simple when i think back to it i used to struggle when i first played. you just use sphere shot or jecht shot with tidus and ur sorted. if you wanna be adventurous u use nap shot with datto and hope for the best :) blitzball ftw

I don't know why you wouldn't just use Jecht Shot to score, it's a 100% chance to score when you're close to their goal. I usually get 1 score in the first half with Tidus and Jecht Shot, and then 1 in the 2nd half with Wakka

I scored during the first half. I feel super proud. Fool proof tactic. Pass to the guy with the highest pass, swim into the goal untill all of the opposing team assembles on a straight line and pass it to Tidus, who will be on the other side, bypassing their entire defense. Swim up to the goalie, shoot and hope for a goal.

First Half: Just pass Botta, Jassu & Tidus
Just avoid losing the ball. Don't try to score.
Second Half: Tidus with Jech Shot
Botta, Letty & Datto mark Bickson.
Jssu & Tidus mark Abus.
Score with Tidus w/ Jetch Shot (must be near the goal and with 2 or less people blocking)
When Wakka goes in, use Venom shot.

To beat it, snatch the ball from them and pass them to your own team members until they level up.
In the second half, you might be strong enough to stand a chance. But the only way I won is because of Jecht Shot.

When I got here, I barely knew how to play, much less which tactics were good. The Goers would often get the ball at kickoff, reach my goal, knock out the defenders, and score without any input from me.
And I only had the Sphere Shot.
Since defense didn't work, I just attacked suicidally, overwhelmed the Goer defense, and Sphere Shot-ed the goal. Took a few tries, but it worked out of luck.

I hate blitz and I hate the Luca Goers and I hate this game! It's the first game you actually get to play - what, all you get is a manual? Great .. by the time you learned the rules, searched for Auron, came back and get to play, you forgot everything again!
So, I finally cheated myself 99 goals - I thought it was correct for Wakka to win the last match. Next playthrough I lost 2 to 1.

I've seriously given up on trying to win Blitzball. I've had this game for 3 years now and I never won, I have never scored a goal either. And yes, I did the tutorial.
I'm playing it right now and when the first blitzoff starts, the Luca's get it and go to my goal, I have a 3 persons blocking him, he breaks through and shoots and it's a goal. There's NOTHING I could've done to prevent that from happening.
It's too hard and too unfair.

the match is easy, but you basically need jecht shot or you're boned. A few things to keep in mind is, give the ball to tidus. Don't just charge towards the goal and let the AI start the tackle fight. If you do that, you'll have to deal with 3-4 guys on you. Instead, let them tackle you one by one when they get close. Not only will you proceed forward, but the guy who failed at tackling you will be much further away. When you're finally RIGHT next to the goal, jecht shot

The easiest way to obtain the Jecht Shot on the boat is to rapidly press X and move your left analog stick in every direction. It worked for me nicely! ;)

This really depends on luck. If the goers get the ball first you can already assume they WILL score. For the first round do as the video does and keep away. In the second round if you get the ball first, have letty lure the goers away from tidus/wakka but just enough so you don't encounter them and so you can throw a safe pass. Once you have lured them away you can freely pass to tidus/wakka and you will have only one opposing player. Skill shot and GOAL!!

i beat them using jech shot and venon shot from wakka since both shot increase the SH and also a god thing to do on this game is on the first round put more people on defense and do not let the goers make a goal on the first round because your lose chance will increase by over 40%
