  • This has been one of my favorite songs since I can remember. It has to be in the early 80's. Anyway, The Clash remains to be one of the most honest song writers I've ever know. Nothing fancy, just straight up old school.

  • unable till now...

  • The only band that Matters still to this day. Well there's a ton of great bands, but the Clash has been my favorite since I was a kid and now I'm 41 and the love affair continues to grow deeper. My band the Union's biggest influence was the Clash and still is my biggest song writing influence. Can check me new songs at wyattscottpunk on myspace if you want some Clashesque punk. Keepin the torch burning!!!

  • @ramonemeister is it really about drug dealers?

  • Aaah! hearing this teleports me right back in time-- 16 again, parents house, thrashing about blasting this in my room. Weren't those the good days.

  • Great Job on the lyrics! Thanks

  • Wow, this is such a tune!

  • the demo of this song is so catchy :D

  • is this song about his relationship with a drug dealer???

im not trying to be an ass but that's just what it sounds like to me :)

but anywhoo one of my fave songs by em :)

  • Yes. There were drug dealers hanging out around the band. In general it's taking a jab at the "drugs are cool" mentality that is/was big in the scene.

I don't know if he was singing specifically about Topper Headon (another member of the band who had developed a heroin problem) or Sid Vicious (who died of an overdose the same year the song was written).

  • @tsdcX Probably just talking about life in general mate. Nowt to do with Tops or Vicious.

  • @lusefer Yes, it's about drugs and how they destroy you.

  • Rude and Reckless i might add..... :)

  • no la entendi

  • Amazzzzing

  • Pure awesomeness!!!!

  • Lovely stuff....drumming is wicked

  • Great song, from The Only Band That Matters

  • one of the most awesome songs from one of the most awesome albums of all time.

  • @koalanirvana of the most awesome band! (;

  • I bought London Calling for a very cheap price, its a great album.

  • But it wasn't given free? That was hateful! :)

  • Love it

  • this is an awesome song!!

  • Play it fucking loud! Music at its best!

  • That line, "I've gotta see that main man" at 1.00 mins. The tail on the word "main man" is worth more than a lifetimes work from the majority of musicians, and it was something that just spilled out from all corners of The Clash.

I really enjoyed this so thanks for putting it up.

  • Mann, you're damn right

  • @APublicDomain hehehe... I'm so glad other people notice things like that!

  • I Love this song

  • my #2 fav.....they never played it live. its supposed be like a bo diddley song. I play bass and i can tell you this song is so much fun to play!! my fav to play off that album is this song.

  • Hear that fucking melody :D

  • Thanks. Excellent choice of font. Clear, easy to read.

  • One of the best Clash songs, certainly one of the five best.

  • Well, the difficulty in that lies in individuals over coming their prejudicial stand points and venturing actively out there to seek out like open minded individuals, unfortunately, I witness far too many times, superiority egomaniacs and then I think: we all are strangers to each other in the beginning waiting to be acquaintances but we put up fucked up barriers known as elitism.

  • this is my fav clash song =DDDD

  • wow love this song.. from one of my favourite albums ever!

  • they never played this song live very disapointing

  • We play it live. Plus many others.

  • This tune seems to have a Celtic feel.

  • Big Jock Knew

  • a very well put together vid, great job

  • This is pretty much the best song ever about someone battling drug addiction.

"He gives me what I need

What you need? what you got?

I need it all so badly"

    Brilliant.

  • So true. Another classic line:

"This year I've lost some friends

    Some friends? What friends?

    I dunno, I ain't even noticed."

    Once again, brilliant.

  • LoL thats my favorite line in the song and the way he says it is sweet cuz he dont give a shit that he lost them

  • totally underrated song! Brilliant!

  • i love this song so much i cant stop listening !!!

  • this song is clearly about being an addict. great song too!

    :D

  • im not sure if theres only one best clash song but this has to up there

  • rudie cant fail

    rock the casbah

    lost in the super market

    koka kola

    london calling...?

  • why does every youtube video become a place for people to argue about crap. why dont you all spend a bit less time whining and a bit more enjoying the music?

oh, and this is a great song lol

  • BUT HOLLIES65: TAKE AN URGENT REAL FACT NOTE: NO ONE f..cares OLD OVERWIEGHT DIVORCED UGLY LOOZER ugh ya posted last mnth i wont be laughing soon

    wha? loozer??

hugh im dying w/ laughter honey.. and lol and rotf at ya old man

  • Does your boyfriend have cancer? He looks terrible.

  • Dude its definatly about drugs and a drug dealer. "I killed all my nerves

What swerves? I can't drive so steady ". I don't think Capitalism does that to you.

  • This is the 2. best song of the clash!

The best one is "should I stay or should I go" =]

  • Of course is about a drug dealer.

    regards from Brazil.

  • whats thiss about ? his drug dealer ?

  • drugs i think..

  • thats what i thought "the clash-the only band that matters"

    haha

  • i write for fun... and other thiks it true... lol

  • Yep. The song is definitely about drugs. AND, it is AGAINST DRUGS.

Drugs suck and will always suck, and the clash knew that. That's why they fired their drummer when he was taking drugs.

  • dUH

  • Niice work fella!

  • simply amazing

  • Listening to this song, you realize where all the modern "punk rock" bands nowadays get their hooks from

  • I love this song from one of my favorite Clash albums. Didn't Strummer/Jones write this song about Topper's heorin addiction?

  • I love this song

  • I like this song the solid and shaped beats on nice groove. The lyric singing badness. But , listening to make feel better from this shaped groove.

  • God, I'm so addicted to this song.

  • The best song ever about the pusher-addict relationship ever written. In High School, me and some friends used to play it, changing "he" to "she" + a few other changes, turning into a co-dependent love song. Because it's great song, sounding so barn-burningly rowdy and joyful, it made more sense to us that way. Joe Strummer's lyrics are quite depressing if you actually consider them.

  • of course theyre depressing - thats the brilliance of it. it sounds on the surface like sucha happy and upbeat song, but its got really quite a grim meaning. its pure genius

  • wow, this ziz the only to listen the song, it seems that it was never played alive!

    thnks mate

  • haha, this ziz the only way to listen that song, it seems that never was played live!!

    cheers mate

  • my favorite clash song, thanks for putting this up
