You actually can use simple pistons. they block water and lava itself, so you dont need to collect slime.

@PIEgunz no, there are already many "test studies" about this. mushrooms spread if the light level is below or equal to 12, but they spread at the same speed regardless of how low it actually is.

Question. Would it be possible to make something like a minecart clock (more reliable then a redstone clock because it doesn't stop on logout) that goes of every few minutes and when it does it allows the water out for a few seconds, so it can collect mushrooms? Would this work or...?

@CraselinPlusPlus it would't work very well caouse items despawn after 5 min, s you would have to remember when the cart comes and then head back to the farm. also you would have to let the cart run i a very long circle since it doesn't make sense to let the water flow more often than once per hour. ( mushrooms spread very slowly)

You don;t have to use stone blocks to stop water. You can also use normal pistons and keep them in the extended position to block the water.

For the people that haven;t see a slimeball in their whole minecraft time.. like me.. lol.

@potharing you should definitly go to the wiki page about slimes. there have are some special things like spawning only in certain chuunks, which means that you have to find them first before making a slime farm.

they can have light, but dont put direct light on them, i would suggest having the torches above the collector rows and elevated to where the light is dim, or on the edges of the room with a block between the room and the torch but with an open space adjacent to that block

@HaPpEeGaSs They have to be on the same level, The redstone is powering the block below it because its touching it, and the piston is touching that block, thus the piston activates, But if the piston is one level higher, that piston is not in direct contact with the redstone nor the block its powering

He should make it so there are stories to the mushroom farm, the pistons on each floor will alternate so the water will reach each level and collect on the bottom, although it will take some time to collect them all.

The problem with your final piston, is that redstone current only goes 15 blocks, before it needs to be extended again, usually with repeaters.

@SalucoN the seed mushrooms stay there , so you dont have to replant them ( thats the clue of auto farming, by the way ;-) ) just the ones spread in the middle are collected

@HaPpEeGaSs It has to be placed on the block on top of the piston, EXACTLY like his. You can't have the redstone running beside the pistons it must run on the block beside the top of the piston.

@DavidMavid94 das squids in dem kleinen pool spawnen ist extrem unwarschenlich, deswegen habs ichs ja aufgenommen. die warscheinlichkeit, dass die in dei pool spawnen, ist pro tick ca so groß wie die anzahl der wasserblöckee im pool durch die anzahl der wassserblöcke im bereich 144x144x128 blöcke um dich herum, also extrem niedrig, da die meisten im meer spawnen

Mushrooms have half the chance to grow downward/upward so the seed mushrooms are slow starting but once you get some downhill it will grow fast. So its better to harvest it when your fields at least 3/4 full.
