I think that it is really touching that all three other band members still think of Richey as a main part of the band. They are still a gr8 band, but with Richey they were something amazing and something that may never be repeated. RIP. Richey.

I never did a double page spread in the NME when my band first became big stating that I would never keep the band going if one of us left, never do a love ballad, never play top of the pops and never sell out.

Because I never did any of these things I have no promises to break to be a hypocrite.

Lets face it, Richie was the heart of that band, and angry, intelligent antiestablishment figure. You can hear it in the first 3 brilliant albums and everything after was dross.

It's so fuckin' easy to judge when you haven't actually been in their shoes, gone through the things they've gone through... In the end, you have the right to your opinion and if you feel the need to share it with us, youtube is the land of the free. Personally, I am grateful that they haven't split up and that they keep on writing brilliant music. They have changed indeed but then again, only idiots and bigots don't. So there you go.

And there we have the problem, I loved the Manics because they were a young and angry band. That died when Richie did and they should have just stopped but the pull of the money kept that going. JDB is a brilliant musician so they were always going to have success but now they simply are not the manic street preachers, they are 3 members of them making chart rock and I for one will refuse to tolerate it. Pun intended.
