  • i'm srry to be a bother but could someone plz give me a short summary of wht exactly this was about, all i kno is tht it was sad

  • u did a great job,dont be sad

  • :( ..

  • that was ... remarkably touching.

    Bravo sir, bravo.

  • i love this video i love it soooooooooo much. thnx fo ur hard work.

  • This was amazing, its pretty sad though...

  • thank you for making this...I lost my wife recently and found this film to express my feelings so well

  • @eebytuby Sorry for your loss. Thanks for posting kind words at a difficult time. It's really gratifying to hear from people who were touched by my work.

  • I saw this at my college last semester! Simply amazing and very moving!

  • That is so touching :(

  • Sad... We are soooo lonelyyyy

  • Simplicity of the story adds to the power of the message and feeling. Thank you so much for the beautiful work.

  • so sad

  • I'm sorry but i don't think this is the saddest things in my life.

No, I didn't cry, but I guess thats just me.

    [Sorry Dominic :( ]

  • @TheSillybandzaddict no its not just you.

you (the animator) need to put more background into ur main character. make me want to care that she's lost someone. try throwing in some quick flash backs of when she was with her lover when she's rubbing the spot she drew his outline, show us how happy she was and how complete he made her. hell, maybe even make her a bright color in the flash back. :)

i really respect u portraying emotion with literally no faces tho. thats difficult to do!

  • @acedwards87 Thanks, you make good points.

  • @edlundart anytime, good sir!

  • this may very well be one of the saddest things ive ever seen...

  • Cool

  • That's sexy

  • This is so beautiful...

  • wow

  • Now the video was amazingly done, over a gradutely slow period of time, but I know the struggle of making animations, and just want to say i loved the vid you did great, but could be more better with the animations

  • I think you did a marvellous job.

The amount of passion and pride you put into your work shows.

"Gone" is filled with emotion and subtle hints about the human condition.

Shorts - have to be one of my favourite mediums to work with as well as to watch. It is truly fascinating to see such large things (emotions) grow from within such a small time frame.

I think my fav. part is the end with the curtain in the hosp. room

I hope you keep making more of these.

    I truly enjoyed it :)

    Cheers

  • @joshuadavidmcpherson Thank you very much for the kind words!

  • Life is full of love and loss, and then the curtains stop fluttering.

  • @Treemeadow Well said.

  • @MrprofessorRAGE BURN!!!!

  • @MrprofessorRAGE not being able to spell properly doesn't help your point. bitch.

  • beautiful and sad

  • those are the ugliest titties i have ever seen it looks like a speed bump

  • i watch this video alot

  • what a stupid video i must say :)

  • oh u made me cry..

  • T-T thats very sadd

  • You're really talented..

  • I think your credits were very funny; good animation I liked it. I think the transitioning was done well. I did not get the last few seconds of the window and curtain however. I thought it was transitioning again but it just ended with the curtain. Was there a significance in it?

  • Yes, the windows and curtains carry symbolic weight throughout. But, I'm sure most viewers don't really catch on to my ideas behind that, nor is it crucial to enjoying the piece. Thanks for taking the time to watch and to comment.

  • @edlundart I think I understood the whole curtain thingy ;o .. .

At the beginning theres 2 curtains in her room, 1 perfectly still the other one waving in the wind.. but truly theres 1 curtain for her, and 1 curtain for him. Him who are gone, and in the end, as she dies her curtain becomes as perfectly still as his was. The curtains were something indicating how alive they were :o

    right? >_>

Great work done in this movie, I cried like a baby when the last curtain stopped! <3

  • @Totallysponge You have seen the film as I made it -- this is not to say this is the only interpretation, but it is a good description of my intent. Thanks very much to you and all other commenters who are enjoying my work!

  • make more i love your work

and very sad that she lost her husband

  • Thank you. I have recently started doing some tests for a planned second short film. I'm afraid it will be half an eternity before I have it done though. I appreciate the interest and support.

  • Hello Bard, I'm from mexico first of all let me tell that your work is amaizing i'm speachless jaja. I play in a rock band and we have a song call por que te vas? in inglish means why are u leaving? we are going to play in two weeks here in my city. are you agree if we use your work to play our song ? will be aperfect match.

I hope you understand me, my inglish is not to good. = (

  • Hey, thanks for the compliment. I'm assuming you are talking about projecting my animation behind your band as you're playing, or something? If so, yes, you may do that if you're able to just grab this video off YouTube. I hope you will film it so we can all see what it looks and sounds like together!

  • its very emotional

i would say your efforts weren't in vain

  • sad. tear. T-T

  • just Great

  • this is funny to me for some reason, but sad in another, great animation.

  • Shapes shouldn't make me cry, but they did.

  • good job. don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • Great job Bard Edlund!

  • u dont have to get this its your interpretation of what you think is happening.

  • i dont get this.

  • she lost her husband.

  • it's really not that complicated to "get." it's actually pretty simple.simple and depressing. captureslife wonderfully.

  • Hey everyone, thanks for watching my short film! Please have a look at my new animated comedy talk show! You can find a link to it in the sidebar to the right of this video (click "more info"). Thanks, and don't forget to subscribe to it!

  • Thanks! This was done in Animation Master.

  • wow thats sad looks like you did a greta job but sad what program did u use????

  • Wow... the pure contrast in some scenes and the simplicity of some common objects makes this video amazing! Your views/messages were sometimes sketchy but in the overall theme your point was strong. Good Job! I hope to see more

  • 99rei99, thanks, I appreciate that you took the time to comment even if you didn't love it.

  • I hate to break the cycle, but this wasn't so beautiful and sad. I wasn't terrible or anything, but girl missing her man who died isn't anything new or groundbreaking. It's simple and well done for what it is, I'll grant you that. But I woulnd't praise it as everyone one else has. But again, I'm not trying to be an A hole, I'm sure you meant for it to be simple, and it seems to me you succedded in what you wanted. So good job.

  • Yes, my animated comedy show is still more or less on schedule to launch around the turn of the year! Can't wait to share it with you all. Thanks to all commenters.

  • one word.. beautiful

and only one or two months to go for your comedy series! i'm looking forward to it ^^

  • simply great!!!

    5 stars

  • Great.

  • Just wanted to check in and say thanks to the last couple of people who posted. Your kind comments and favorable ratings are appreciated! By the way, I'm working on an animated comedy series which I hope to debut around December or January. Subscribe if you want to make sure to catch that when it goes live!

  • and my 5 star rating, good luck in the future :)

  • you'll be huge :P

  • omg....it's so sad...briliant ^^

  • Nice animation. very abstracted. I'm working on an animation about a washer and dryer you go out partying one night. Check out the progress on my channel.

  • Thanks! I took a look at your piece in progress. You did a good job bringing those machines to life!

  • i can feel the sadness but i dont get the story... what happened to the girL?

  • I wanted to create the poetic framework of a story, so that each viewer can imagine the details based on their experience. It's intentionally left a bit open for interpretation. If anyone wants to post their reading of the narrative, I'd welcome that. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy the film regardless. Thanks for watching!

  • ohh i see... but despite of that, i truly appreciate the video and also your hospitability to each of the viewers.. i truly appreciate that kind of personality of yours.. anyways,, i wish you luck in this project!!! hope to see your name in professional animations! ^^

  • Bård, this is simply brilliant. Fabulous work. Many thanks for this.

  • True, there are festivals that might give this a chance. I do work in a lot of artistic genres, so it's more of a general observation about how creative fields tend to work. But yes, I'll enter this in some festivals and we'll see!

  • But ya know it's not about partying or shmoozing with the right people; it's about finding contests and festivals and entering. It IS possible to win contests without buying the judges a drink or complimenting their children!

  • I will likely take you up on your second point -- the "nudity" angle was a silly attempt to draw some traffic to a film that probably isn't catnip to most YouTube viewers. I'll probably change it to something less sensationalistic soon. Thanks very much for your kind words and your thoughts. That goes to everyone!

  • bugbot2006, I appreciate your comments. The "Prizeless" name is intended less as self-deprecation than a kind of jokingly bitter sentiment. I think my work is good but perhaps underappreciated because I don't do much networking or partying or schmoozing with the right people, etc. For me it's a defiant name, saying "this may not receive glitzy awards, but it's the real deal."

  • Beautifully done and very moving. My only comment would be to come up with a different name than "Prizeless", and remove "scandalous abstract nudity" from the file title. Self-deprecation doesn't have any connection whatsoever to your fine achievement.

  • Quite impressive, as I knew it would be.

    -t.

  • Very, very good! Glad to see you finished this one!

  • Nice pacing and emotion in this one. Good work.
