Why are there so many people who want to say who is the "best" guitarist. Uli is amazing, Blackmore was brilliant, Page was fantastic, Hendrix magical, Malmsteen unbelievable, Gilmore exquisite, Young ass-kicking, Rhoads awesome, Iommi God... I could go on like this. If you are still wondering "Who is best"? then you don't get it and you never will.
i loved his material with the scorpions when he went solo the earthquake stuff to me was a dissapointment, hes still great for SUN IN MY HAND ill never hate this guy
For a while??? Their best albums are with Uli. And now after 22 years of listening to blues, jazz, rock and heavy metal music I can say one thing for sure. There is only one man that I admire to insanity. His name is Uli Jon Roth.
this guy got his feeling rigth down to his fingertips. he play with such feeling, it's breathtaking. only a handfull of people can play with such feeling. no question about it, uli is one of the gods
I read an interview where Yngwie said Uli was "pretty much GOD". There's no bad blood between those two...For that matter, Yngwie used to hang out with Blackmore. Yngwie is more respectful to elders than most people know, but he's quiet about it.
I heard him for the first time in a german radio concert when "Fly to the Rainbow" was just released. And between I prayed to guitar gods as Ingie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani.
Uli's is fantastic...who IS the best (living) in this genre? Uli? Yngwie (didn't he say Uli is one of his influences?) Joey Satriani (yes he can do this too) Steve Vai? Greg Howe? Paul Gilbert? Vinnie Moore? Jake E. Lee?..let's not forget Randy Hansen HE can do this also? I would also like to throw in Al DiMeola and the one that started this all....Mahavishnu John McLaughlin...
I don't know where you got that. He may have picked up a few things from his sister who was a practicing flutist, but he has explained many times that it was Paganini's 24 caprices that inspired him to study it himself. He never took formal lessons.
I suppose you believe everything Malmsteen says. Like when he said Uli never influenced him yet his style came from Uli and Malmsteen plays Ulis solo from Scorpions, he didnt admit it until some musician told him hey thats from Uli why dont you start paying respect and stop being a douchebag.
EU, interesting point. But Malmsteen has often credited others. Not just Hendrix and Blackmore but even specific arrangements on his albums that were influenced by classical composers. I don't think he's as arrogant as some think (certainly not when he was younger).
Well the real credit should go to the great composers of the baroque era. Malmsteen still taught himself by ear at a very young age and was hugely ripped off himself.
Blackmore doesn't have to "decide" on a genre because he incorporates ALL of them, and at the highest possible level of skill, brilliance, innovation, and virtuosity.
Lol Michael Schenker was the one that retired Blackmoore in the 70's and 80's. Why else Coxy Powel and graham Boneet left him to join Michael Schenker......lol...hehe...lol
Way to go cunagua. Pretty cool he is playing his strat. When i saw him in 85, he played half the show with the vintage white strat. Every other time over the next 22 years, he played exclusively sky. Still like that fat penetrating midrange of the strat, and Uli's mesmerizing harmonic minors filling in the blanks.
yes, Tokyo Tapes is excellent but Uli's grown immensely as a composer and as a player since then. Right keep TT in mind and check later 'Beyond the Astral skies' or Transcendental Sky guitars'...
The two who didn´t like this must be tonedeaf or something...
This also reminds me why I had my strats neck lengthened with two frets, as in this video, to 23 frets :D

EPIC! How does he do it with that right hand? The hand often doesn't even need to rest on his guitar. It's everywhere. Hail master!

Right you are about some credit for the old masters. But one thing is for sure - Beethoven is NOT baroque era ;-)

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Ritchie Blackmore does a much better job with this -- as he does with everything. Blackmore is God, all others are mere pretenders.
hungerinamerica 3 years ago
Blackmore even in these days has not decided his musical genre....
Uli is pure classical.... with some extra flavors.

Well... usually, people that are good at every genre SUCKS when compared to a specialist in one genre..
By the way... the things you say are NOT true.. You should grow up.
