How do you make iMovie record in widescreen?

I didn't think it was possible?

it usually automatically converts the iSight 4:3 into 16:9 when you drag a clip from Events to the project.

However if it doesn't do this, you can just go into cropping, and it tends to crop it to widescreen settings.

If it doesn't do this then you have your iMovie all set up the wrong way when you first started using it.

Or, you can change the Video SIze to 1024x576 as you import the footage there and then. thank @tom_bacon for telling me that.
