Hey that really sounds like Don. I grew up in Roanoke, Va (born 1947) and Don and Red played every morning on WDBJ TV for years. I got to go down to the station when it was downtown. Don was a really nice man and a great banjo player. He said he was inspired by Snuffy Jenkins and when he came back from the Army, Earl Scruggs had the three finger bluegrass style so perfected Don decided to go in a new direction with two fingers and other licks which gave him a style all his own.
