The G2 has a USB pot so it can be played straight into the computer (line in) but the G1 does not include this feature also the G2 has more flexability because there is more knobs to ahust than in the G1 so you can get that perfect sound......I myself have a G1 it has been one of my favourite pedals of all time but when you wanna start recording you may want to switch to the G2

The G2.1u has usb port in it, so you can record from that one. Then you aren't getting the crappy phone noise.

yes it has the same effects, the expresion pedal is the difference for the wah

you can set the pedal to mod amount of distortion, volume, mix volume of the effects in real time...but I just use it for the wah

if you're trying to decide just ask yourself if you reeeeeeeaaaally want the wah then just buy it with the expresion pedal ;)

Zoom g2 is so and so, not bad, but I think a line6 is better. For a metal sound peavey simulation is good. For a lead guitar is simple, not for a rhythm guitar. See my video with zoom please and tell me about the sound.
