You probably played this on the real console and I did too the first time around, but now that I'm playing it on an emulator, I do have an advantage, the ability to save between stages, which is not something this game can do natively. That might explain a bit.
I remember playing this on the Sega... I wasn't too good but that was because I was young. You're really good at it.
