  • Imagine if an MCI coach with a 6V92TA engine sounded like this.

  • Wonder if he wears earplugs

  • What is the maximum HP of a 6L71? What is the maximum rpm?

  • lol nice but it sounds like its getting further faster than it is lol

  • FUCK YEAH I catch fire when I hear this and so do 47 others!!

  • That sounds hot!

  • this ol bitch sounds pretty damn good. know where i coulld find a champ like this?

  • awesome video. look fwd to more

  • love it

  • you sure thats not just someone revving a stock car in the background?lol it sounds unreal

  • where do you find rigs like these.

  • MAN, i would love to have this truck, the nasty looks i would get from people for having a bad ass sounding rig

  • How I wish my Pontiac Grand Prix to sound like this

  • @legsbluetrain put a 671 in there and cut the exhaust

  • @AcaAllertor127 Problem, not enough room in an '04-'08 Grand Prix

  • @legsbluetrain true try a 453 instead

  • @AcaAllertor127 still too big

  • F&%$K I love that sound.

  • its a 6L71 and its only turing about 1500rpm ,all 2-stroke detroits are designed to rev high it keeps from sludging the slobber boxesand they make their power on the high end.if you lug a detroit constantly you will dramatically shorten its life

  • @detroitphil I had a 671 detriot with a bower on a old michigan/clark loader 175b I believe. It screamed just like that and sounds like I was going 120 mphs but more like 5 mph lol. i was never impressed with the power of all 3 detriots i owned. including a 6cyl in my 1981 international s1700 and the 6.5 8 cyl in my 1995 chevy 3500HD

  • why rev the poor old bastard so high.

  • @bulletman100 they were made to run like that

  • its not good for it. once its wound out why run it into the ground? just change gears. motors 101.

  • @bulletman100 but this guy was barly reving it, it just sounds like it

  • @bulletman100 detroits will die in a few weeks if you run them at high load with low rpm

  • @bulletman100 Not really running all that high just the way its built.

  • Is that a straight six (6L71)or a V six (6V71) or something else? The hood looks a little short for an inline 6-71. The truck sounds great. Probably sets off car alarms often.

  • Both the 6-71 and 6V-71 were available for the Fleetstar "A" series for much of the line's existence.

The 6V-71 was canceled as soon as the Fleetstar was to be replaced on April 25, 1977 by the S-series Class 8 rigs. Although the 6-71 remained the standard engine for the heavy-duty S-series, the line of Detroit Diesels was extended to three basic models; the other two being the 8V-71 and the 6V-92.

  • Old sirens, old train horns, and these old engines were taken more seriously back then.Just the sound of them were serious business.

  • die kiste kommt ja garnicht vom fleck!1 xD

  • loud enough said cool IH.

  • I MUST find a 2-stroke detroit. I MUST.

  • little bit nascar little bit maximum overdrive!

  • Shit...i jus bout ran out my room....thought it was comin to get me!!! Sounds exactly like max overdrive!!!

  • MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE

  • I'm not going to lie right at the beginning I thought it was a stock car coming. Never heard a detriot before and they sound cool.

  • oh heck yea!!

    freaking love those old diesals

  • Those IH fleetstars are cool looking trucks

  • wow thought it waz coming in doin 110

  • SOUNDS MEAN

  • This sounds a lot like the BRM V-16 formula 1 engine. It's easy to find on youtube.

  • That sounds superb, makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up! I've love too own that, it would certainly annoy the neighbours!

  • The sound of that thing alone would attract LOTS of attention on the road. All diesels today sound like the old Maxidynes but quieter. This sucker sounds like a race car.

  • AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Detroit diesels!

  • Nice

  • Nice Truck!

  • What would this truck have sounded like with a 6V-92TA under the hood?

  • sounds like a geo metro on alcohol? obviously your too retarded to recognize the sound of a two stroke. id be willing to bet the 6-71 has 4x the power of any piece of shit truck you have. if you even have aq truck.

  • hey who the fuck are you? andf yes im a mechanic 3rd generation so fuckoff

  • 3RD GENERATION ASS HOLE IS MORE LIKE IT

  • you must be a first generation fuckface am i right? or does being a dick run in the family

  • hey fuckstick horsepower dont mean shit these things rev like hell to get their power tourqe is what you want so go back to mechanics first month then come troddeling back fucker

  • your the one being a dick asshole, some people dont know what there talking about and you call them a fuckstick, FUCK YOU

  • i call people who think they know shit fucksticks so HEY FUCKSTICK

  • hp is torque multiplied by rpm/5252...

they rev like hell to get thier proper torque...

rev like hell... peak torque is at what... 12-1300 rpm....

  • sound lyke they put a bottle n it..

  • yup, i love em too, although they sound like the truck is breaking 150mph in the quarter mile when they are just reaching 30mph ;)

I would love to get a silver 6v53 and drop it in a fully restored 1970's F350 for a show truck

  • I remember a mine in Western Australia, back in '73, the buses to take the shift from town to the mine, one had a 8v-71 , not much of a silencer....you could hear the guys coming back from shift. Great sound.

  • That is music to my ears. They just dont build them like they used to.

  • Watch her torque up.Big power baby.

  • My brother once drove an open-cab 1969 Seagrave tiller ladder truck that sounded EXACTLY like this truck. You did not need a siren at all, plus the tractor had a 2-speed rear in it for speed. If you heard this truck coming you KNEW it was ALL BUSINESS.

  • Pine Bluff FD had a ladder truck with an engine like this.Just like you said,no siren needed.

  • wish my 6-71 sounded like that =)

  • sounds like a ww2 prop airplane, it just so awesome!

  • being a cummins man all i got to say is damn that sounds nice. best to diesels in the world

  • so where's yours?I'd like to judge yours for myself.

  • Detroit Diesel 2-Stroke! Beatiful sound! whas not to like?

  • sounded like a sing prop airplane at first

    priceless!

  • NOTHING and I mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G beats the sound of a 2-cycle Detroit, especially the 6V-53 and 6-71.

  • shut the fuck up ... the old 2 cycle detroit eats cummins engine...

  • i didnt say anything except that these engines although very nice do not compare to the mack engines its just my opinion and your entitled to yours so easy buddy!

  • Wooooh!!!

  • i have a proof that detroit sounds better.. lok in my fav.. there is 1 video that is called : notre dame du nord, EDITION TIBRIN. and there is another 1 called :mad dog vachon its a orange western star all of those motors are the same. 8v92. and the white 1 in EDITION TIBRIN is the 1 that the orange had..

  • good ol screamin deamon

  • it has masc camel back tandems

  • i meant mack...lol

  • detoits sound better than cummins if you ask me

  • I'm afraid you are alone in this world son..

  • Is that a tandem rear or is one axle a drop axle?

  • if you ask me it looks like a drop axle

  • nice man sounds awsome what does she have a 671? looking foward too seeing more videos man, i hope u got some more video ideas for the truck dude

  • It's a 6-71 and nothing but in the case of the 2070A. 2070As could also have 6V-71s.

When this was replaced in mid 1977 with the S-2570 series, the 6-71 was still the standard engine through the mid 1980s. The S2570s could also be specified with Detroit Diesel 8V-71s to 304 hp and 6V-92TAs to 335 hp.
