I was into this song hard bak in the day as a disco dj in the seventies ,loved it thn and still love it now .Awesome sound, has to be played on Radio these days ,lol
My cousins and I would all sing this song when were little kids and didn't know what they were talking about. Now I know and wonder why us little kids were running around my grandmother's house singing "GET OFF".
I once remember a party when some kids out of high school for a visit jumped on the floor so fast, AND IN SYNC on this song. Never before or since I had seen that; that's how powerful this song was back in the day.
@ss6trucks i am 18 years old and i 100% agree with @TheAfroQween..todays music is awfula nd does not compared to music in the 70s, 80s and 90s...Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, and all the other rappers out there only rap about sex, selling drugs and women.. the few good, intelligent rappers like Wale, Common, Kanye and Lil Wayne, Drake and Kid Cudi dont compare to Tmusic back then...
@powerforce21 I never said they compared I just don't like when it is generalized like all of it is swearing, cussins, cars, women, alcohol, and money. Thats like saying all music back then was all sex, drugs and partying. That would sound very ignorant and be untrue because there are alot of timeless songs that are the opposite
At the clubs here in Chicago, this song blew the doors clean off of the hinges!!! :) It still is capable of making you "Get Off" today—30 years after the fact!!! :)
we used to linedance on this one the whole dancefloor and beyond the same set of steps to then jump up and turn 45 degrees and do it all over again. everybody started in a different angle so you would dance with an other person every set. it was great fun
These were these days- No cussing, swearing, screwing, shaking, humping- left a lot to the IMAGINATION with the words they used; there is a story to the lyrics & you can interpret what they are saying.
@TheAfroQween Well first to get the point of the cursing youd have to acknowledge that disco is indeed DEAD, now with me saying that i mean dead as in the times have changed. Music adapts to whatever the surroundings are, this isnt the 70's where love was free and we can just get down and boogie, not to say that that was bad but thats just not relevant anymore, with the change of the century we saw gangbanging, use of automatic weapons, etc. The music just reflects that
@ss6truks Why do you feel the need to elaborate this to me, I realize the times have changed etc etc blah blah blah- I'm living in the same world you are. I've seen the times change & what the music reflects & what is 'dead' & what isn't - I'm not 15 yrs old, OBVIOUSLY- let me get to the 'point' of why I made my comment- it was simply to reminisce, not to strike up a psychological evaluation & intellectual debate-
@TheAfroQween Well I felt the need to explain that music should not be bashed in any shape, way or form. You like your music and thats good for you, but please I beg of you don't generalize, it ends up looking very very ignorant
@ss6truks First of all, the fact that you feel you need to educate me;someone who's twice as old as you; on what music is or isnt is ignorant- secondly the shit they play now isn't music, it's just that shit- 'ignorant shit' at that- so pls, I beg of you stay in a child's place & stop trying to 'explain' shit to me that I knew before you were even a glimmer in your father's eye.
@TheAfroQween Well ma'am the fact that you lost your cool when i was easily explaining things to you shows who the real mature one is. And the fact that you thought I was referring to today's music truly intrigues me. If you would excuse me I have more important things to do than argue about things that are of no importance. Good day and god bless.
@ss6truks First off, you're the snot nose that got your panties all in a bunch over what little comment I made, I didn't 'loose' anything I put it to you straight just like I do with every one. Your self projections shows just how un evolved you are & you SPECIFICALLY referred to 'today's' music in your comment- keep up with wtf you say & again stay in a child's place on the porch with the pups if coming off the porch is too much for you to handle. YAH bless you right back.
@TheAfroQween The fact that you assume just bc you made a new discovery about what you felt the need to explain is new to me someone 2x as old as you is also intriguing and also is a huge display of ignorance as well, so before you backhandedly insinuate someone else's ignorance & assume others DON'T know what you know and then some, try checking your own ignorance first & do a lil research- jr.
@TheAfroQween I'm amazed at where you are pulling all of this irrelevant information from, I never said you did not know I was just explaining my own knowledge to you. It was for emphasis to the fact that there is a broad range of music out there with a message and yes they use course words, open your mind up my sister. Anywho I truly don't want to bicker with you about this because I respect your seniority on this topic, so I will bow out.
@ss6truks First off, I'm not 'pulling' anything from anywhere- let me give you a bit of a background on music dearheart- I am MARRIED to a musician of 14 YRS; he's been a musician for 25 YRS- so YOU need to let your mind evolve & stop flip flopping, you just told me you felt you needed to explain to me; now it's something else- THEN you felt the need to point how how generalizations 'display ignorance' seems to me the fact that you feel you need to explain yourself to me on what you think is
@TheAfroQween Lol 25? Thats all, please ma'am my mother owned a house before you even got out of kindergarten, I have a bit of history on music as far back as the 20's so please do not insult my intelligence. This need to make me look childish is quite entertaining because you are doing quite the opposite. I suggest you should get some rest like regular adults do instead of fighting with children on youtube.
@ss6truks For one, how would you even know your mother owned a house before I got out of kindergarten you weren't even generated as sperm when I was in kindergarten, two- what does your mom owning a house have to do with MUSIC- I never said there wasn't good music in today's industry, i specifically said it's SHIT in re. to my comment- THIS song compared to.. THE SHIT PERIOD- You felt the need to TRY to 'insult' someone who grew UP in the era of the music in THIS video/song (the 70's)
@ss6truks and also YOU chose to continue to respond BACK after you said TWICE you were 'done', 'disinterested' & 'respected my being your elder' - I am a grown ass woman = ADULT- you are the one that needs your 'rest' jr, clearly your brain is still developing & needs to evolve a bit more.Regular kids your age are usually in bed at the time you responded back to me so why don't you take your own advice & stay out of regular grown folks business? I took no 'attitude' I stated a fact-
@TheAfroQween You haven't stated a fact since we started talking, the only fact that was brought up is that you are married, everything else was YOUR opinion, such as this era being shit music, which is not true and I refuse to agree to that. Since our opinions will not match in the long run why don't we agree to disagree.
@ss6truks with 19 thumbs up on my original comment that you felt you had to give me a text book non common sense lecture on is a fact- the proof is right in front of your face, just bc YOU don't AGREE with THAT fact doesn't mean it ISN'T A FACT- the fact that this era in music IS MOSTLY SHIT is a FACT again, just bc you DON'T AGREE doesn't make it a FACT. You aren't the founder & inventor of music anyway; you act like I insulted your mother- now run along;I dont care if you agree or not-
@TheAfroQween What fact? Ma'am do you know the definition of a fact? Just because it sounds right does not make it a fact, the only shit music of today is that played on the radio, which makes up a small percentage of the wide range of music that is out there. Please I beg of you back up your claims with evidence because your on the verge of looking like you have no idea what you are talking about.
@ss6truks just bc you have SOME book sense doesn't mean YOU have common sense. Sit down and stop trying to think so hard before you hurt yourself. FACT
@TheAfroQween I ask you to provide me evidence and you go off into left field with something asinine, ok it's decided, you have NO idea what you are talking about. Please come back when you have a knowledgeable source, otherwise you are speaking nonsense to me.
@ss6truks Just bc you asked me doesn't mean I have to- you know so much- do your own fact finding- "listen to the radio" & you'll have your facts... now, are you ignoring me or still talking.. pls make up your mind- seems as if you cannot do that.. FACT-
@ss6truks I asked YOU a few questions too, you still have YET to answer them. AND WHAT'S YOUR POINT? Go ask your mother who owned a house before I left kindergarten- she may have your 'facts' for you.
@TheAfroQween The fact that you can't provide facts is proof enough, I've seen all I need to see to formulate my final analysis that you are spewing hot air and nothing more, good day.
@ss6truks the music of today MOST of it IS SHIT- PERIOD- you felt the need to come off the puppy porch and try to tangle words with me= this 'regular adult' & 'educate my ignorance' on music. What I do & how much rest I get, I surely don't need a child telling me when & what to do with myself I have shoes older than you. And FYI I 'rest' while being on YT for a hobby - SINCE you seem to be so interested. You are childish regardless to if I make you look it or not- you are a CHILD-
@TheAfroQween Nice entry, but this post too is meaningless and therefore I have begun not to care, you can reply back if you feel the need but I'm choosing to ignore it.
@ss6truks you are the only one stating how 'useless & unimportant' this conversation is. So one quick question for you- why do you keep responding to someone you think is so 'ignorant' and 'making so many generalizations'?
@TheAfroQween Because your rambling intrigues me, I like watching ignorant people talk, oh I'm sorry I didn;t mean that (sarcasm). But its hilarious seeing as how a "grown ass woman" would stoop to the level of a so called "child", but this in turn ends up being just entertainment for me. Please continue to reply for the sake of my interest.
@ss6truks irrelevant' makes you appear to be conflicted & twisted & totally closed minded. GROW UP & stay out the kitchen if you cannot stand the heat. If I thought this was the 'only genre' of music I would've said that- I made ONE COMMENT on ONE SONG from ONE GENRE of music- and again, the SHIT they make today IS NOT MUSIC.
@TheAfroQween I'd be happy to disprove that theory by giving you a handful of soulfoul artists who are far from "shit", but the elitist attitude you are taking to this shows I cannot reason with you nor will I try, as you say I know nothing about real music and therefore my opinion should be disregarded. So one quick question, why DO you keep replying to a nonsensical kid like me?
@ss6truks if it is of 'no importance' then why did you take the time to write a speech about the music and answer my gotdam comment--- smh-- kids today.
@TheAfroQween Well since I live in this great country we call America I felt the need to express my opinion, because you know kids these days can do that?
Everytime I head to the roller rink, I personally request this song and jam to it on my vintage Kangaroos Skates (for anyone who knows about skates)!!! Roll Bounce!!!
I was about 9 or 10 years old when I first heard this song. I have a sister and brother who used to play this song alot. And I was a good skater when I was a kid, but I haven't worn skates for several years. It is diffinately the jam!!!
My mom told me that she and this guy was dancing to this song back than and they liked each other but a fight broke out in the club and they never got to get to know each other.I love this song wow they use to jam back than.
@retrovix87 I don't blame you, Retro. I was around then and compared to now, it was a whole lot more fun. There wasn't anything in the music lyrics, etc. that could offend. I wouldn't have been afraid to let my mom/grandma listen to this music. I bet if my grandma was around, she would be jamming to thissong!LOL!
I used to skae to this song. It was right about the time I noticed that boys were starting to look good instead of icky and a pain in the rear. This song brings my youth back for 5minutes and 39seconds.
Now this is that Jam right here, i dare anyone of you young heads- throw this on in a club full of old bones (like myself, lol) and they will skool you right then and there, just whip it out all the old moves, everything, purely righteous, glad to hear this on the internet
Written and perform by "Funky" white dudes. They made this song to piss off the bouncers of the club they worked at with the "Ohh, Ohh Ohhhhh." It ended up being the number one dance song of it's time. Love the song and story.
Reminds me of all the fun I had at the Riordan High dancces in San Francisco. Strobe light and all! And the smell of the guys leather jackets! Takes me right back!!!!
this song is the shyte !! reminds me of my meat market (disco) days. this gave everybody on the dance floor a reason for being. lol !! :0 :) thanx for "gettin us off"!
someone please telepath me BACK TO THE 80s !!!

@ss6truks if it is of 'no importance' then why did you take the time to write a speech about the music and answer my gotdam comment--- smh-- kids today.
TheAfroQween 1 year ago
@TheAfroQween Well since I live in this great country we call America I felt the need to express my opinion, because you know kids these days can do that?

Everytime I head to the roller rink, I personally request this song and jam to it on my vintage Kangaroos Skates (for anyone who knows about skates)!!! Roll Bounce!!!
KnowThyself7 1 year ago
I was about 9 or 10 years old when I first heard this song. I have a sister and brother who used to play this song alot. And I was a good skater when I was a kid, but I haven't worn skates for several years. It is diffinately the jam!!!

Written and perform by "Funky" white dudes. They made this song to piss off the bouncers of the club they worked at with the "Ohh, Ohh Ohhhhh." It ended up being the number one dance song of it's time. Love the song and story.
