i watched half the video but i cant see it all, Im really sorry for your loss, my lovebird had passed out a few years ago. You get one thumbs up from me!
I love the Charlie videos - I'm a (former) budgie-owner, myself, and was delighted to hear those familiar budgie tones in an English (as opposed to N. American, our Fluffy's paternus lingua) accent!! :) I'm very sorry for your loss of sweet Charlie, BTW. :( At least his legacy will live on - and internationally, even! - via YouTube. :)
Im so sorry to hear about Charlie! Losing pets is terrible :( I remember when my budgie, beauty died. I was away at my friends house and when I got home my mum told me he had died, i cried for hours and hours! I miss him :(

I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are your family and it is so painful, but just know that animals have souls and souls never die. Just the physical body. I know it doesn't make it hurt any less, but please rest assured that he is still here with ya
Man what a hard thing to do, is do t hat right there, being so close to a animal and describing its experiences with u, and u and its. Must be so hard :(
I know this video was posted a long time ago, but I've only just come across it, and all of your other videos...watching this actually made me cry :( Charlie was such a gorgeous and clever boy! But while this is very sad and I'm sure you miss him loads, at least you have the peace of mind of knowing he was well loved, and some very happy memories...he seems like a right character :')
I loved Charlie in your videos. This is an amazing story. Thanks for sharing it with us. It's so hard to lose a pet. I never thought of having birds as pets until my daughter wanted a budgie. We researched a while and got a pet budgie we named Hedwig. He says all kinds of things now, and we didn't train him. I had no idea that birds were so amazing. Hedwig is two years old now, and I hope he has at least 10 more to go.
Wow, what an amazing budgie!!!! I am truly astonished. Birds are very good associating words with actions. I have three parakeets..they are not english budgies, and alot smaller then charlie, They can not talk at all lol. infact all they do is yell and chatter. I love them so much and they are very tame and sweet and i have had them for 5 yrs. Im sorry for your loss and you had a wonderful bird
Loved your video. I lost my cat to old age today. He was 17. Your video helped me. I was just thinking: 'that's the problem with animals, their lives are so short'.
It is a sad fact of life that many animals suffer abuse of some kind during their lives. Abuse can take the form of physical assaults or punishment - but many suffer from the silent abuse of neglect. please support abused pets by visiting ABUSED-PETS DOT COM
charlie was a very smart ird. i've been trying to get my budgie to talk like him for weeks. their color is the same but charlie just looks a bit smarter. my budgie just plays with the mirror all day. RIP charlie. i love you!!!
We all miss you and love you, Charlie! I cry right now because I won't see you later.
I have a wonderful 'tiel now, Kumo, who I spoke of on your page... but your sadness here reminds me of one I had before, Friday.
Once, I had gone through a terrible breakup. I sat on my couch and wept. Friday saw me, and climbed my body to my shoulder... where she put one little foot on my cheek, drank my tears, and gently preened my eyelashes.
I'm trying to get over the loss of my cockatiel who died yesterday morning it's so hard I can't stop crying, she was not sick at all, but just died, very young to she was only 5 years old. I miss her sooooo much
I am crying as I watch this .... I am soo sorry ... I know the pain of loosing a beloved one .... Charlie was loved so much, I am sure he knew that!! He's now watching over you ...
Beautiful eulogy for Charlie, as he was one to remember! My family loves the Charlie videos. Thank you, Frank, for posting those! Please tell me, I am Canadian and do not know; what does the term 'chopsey' mean?
im very sorry about your loss, i had to put my cat down today, and its such a hard thing to do... i cant stop crying, and im sure you are feeling the way i am now...
He was very special as was JJ superbudgie you can see on my videos more x rated than Charlie we lost 9yr old JJ 2mths agowe all miss him, you don't get over them you learn to cope better without them. x
I can totally relate to your loss , we had a great budgie called Birty , he was very cool , my Mother taught him to talk , we had him for more than 7 years ,
My Nain (Grandma) had a fantastic Budgie, she taught him to greet the right people (which he did until he got old and started muddling words up) and to sing in Welsh, he also used to go "here comes the galloping major, trot trot trot" - they are mega clever when you teach them to talk from babies! Very sad when they pass but it's nice to know they had a loving life. My Nain passed away last year so I can't see us having a Budgie like we had again! But keep on the Budgie chatter!
Thanks Stenaphee, I had to smile at your budgie singing in welsh! Budgies are great ones for varying words and phrases in sentances, which can be very funny at times. I don't think your bird was in any way muddled.
The reason I bought a budgie was after watching your wonderful Charlie! I have had him only 4 weeks now his name is Ozzie and he is so lovely - he is the same color as Charlie - I didnt realise that Charlie had passed - it brought me to tears - xoxoxo
Charlie sounded like a very smart bird indeed, it's great that you can share so many terrific memories of him. He must have had a very happy life with you.
I am so sorry to hear that he is gone. My parrot died two weeks ago and he was the world to me, I've posted a tribute on YouTube with this account.
I feal your loss. I lost my dog about a week ago. My god i miss him so much, I wish i wouldn't get so attached to my pets, because once the day comes. Its just too much... hes in a better place now. I was so sad that I didn't talk to anyone since, my girlfriend left me saying "Grow up you can just buy another dog". Then she left me a week after. Now I need to finish college alone, I want to be a vet so that I can help pets... Im sure you probly dont care, but when I say it agn, I feal better.
I lost my GSD in June 2008. I understand your loss. Gina was my best friend and companion for 9 1/2 years. You are better off without that girl, but it is good to talk about it. Some people don't understand what it means to care for a loyal dog, therefore they don't know how to sympathize with someone who does.
I lost my beloved Cairn terrier mix in January. Talking about him, as this video shows, can help tremendously. Some years ago, a vet at the UW-Madison Vet School worked tirelessly to save our little dog's life when he was gravely ill. She was successful in giving us 6 more years with our friend. After he died, I contacted her to thank her and she told me that our dog had been one of her favorite patients and that she had pictures of him herself. Pursue your dream to be a vet, my friend.
I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope that you have gotten along alright since. I never had a budgie that talked, but I had many before that have been very sweet and chatty. It's hard to lose a friend like that, but their time with us is such a blessing. R.I.P. Charlie
Aaahh.... I'm so sorry for your loss. I really liked the way Charlie talked with you in the videos. I will miss him too. R.I.P Charlie... Have fun with your havenly friends...
so... glumeboy, how are your budgies getting on? we are currently strolling over town looking in all the pet shops to try and find a new freind for LuLu.
Charlie... you have crossed the Bridge..u r having a blast..u r taunting all the doggies, teasing them. you have tons of friends now. you are safe and warm. MAMA.HULA..........is watchin over sweet Charlie.
.....one day....we will all be together again. peace. i love u my daddy.
Im really sorry for your loss it must of been hard. I have seen many of close family die and im only 15 its very hard. Even for pets its very hard to deal with. Charlie was a good bird and im sure he is up looking down at you
i might as well tell you the dramatic story of my budgie. he looked very ill. he slept all day and pooped alot obvisly trying to get something out of his system. my other budgie tried her best to cheer him up, preening him and requrgitating food for him. the next morning he was still alive, but was in a dead pose. i picked him up, he streched his wings and died in my very own hands! we think he loved us and waited to say goodbye.
I felt your loss. I had a budgie best friend for years, and he passed on over a year ago. I didn't replace him, nothing can replace him. They have a personality, and his was very quirky with mine. He was like a "wingman" (no pun intended). Near the end of our time together, he spent alot of time on my shoulder, snuggling my neck. The vet couldn't do anything for him. I had to go out of town that weekend, thankfully I took him with me. He passed on with his family, and I was glad he go alone.
Say what you will about Charlie not being a birdbrain, but I think he was-he was smart, therefore he had a brain, and he was a bird, so that makes him a birdbrain! :P
But Rocky, Bluey and Johnny are certainly birdbrains too, just take a look at how smart they all are!
I used to have a fish when I moved because the duplex didn't allow pets. In middle school all the kids picked on me and I had that fish to talk to. Well as soon as middle school was done, he passed. It hurt very much, and I cried and it was raining out and I put a little note in his box that said 'We'll will be together forever, I love you' And I still like to think he is still with me when I need him.
Hey Charlie isn't missing, my Coco watches him most days on here as I'm teaching her to talk. She disapeared for four days in the wild and we found her, theres a vid on here all about it and a vid on here of her watching Charlie. I feel your pain but Charlie while on here lives forever :) Christy aka cdrwin & Coco.
Sorry about the keys comment it was quite harsh.... but I do think this country (UK) cares more about animals than people these days. If we don't care about eachother then we will never care for the amazing animals on our planet
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
My mum died... she was very poorly.... the next mroning she was dead 2 months ago. I lost my budgie when I was 8. Come on mate get a grip, we love our pets but this broadcast is ridiculous, do you think there are people in Zimbabwe doing videocastes about their dead poodle? Hate to be harsh but it needs to be said... I am going to do one about losing my keys
can some one please please tell me how to make your budgies breed, because i have 4 budgies nd two of them are always together nd giving food to each other with the beaks but the female has not laid any eggs yet.
there is a nest box in the cage nd the female is up to a year old. can some one please give me ideas or anything
So sorry for your loss, and ours here on YT. We enjoyed his videos very much. We too lost our Budgie over a year ago (Gracy-to a hawk when he unknowingly went out the door on my wife's shoulder). But we enjoy him often on YT. Thanks for sharing Charlie with us.
Sounds like he was a wonderful budgie... and a very lucky one too to have an owner like you.
Itchy or not, he never would have rubbed his head on your neck if he didn't trust you a lot! I once had a budgie who would land on my head or climb up my arm to my shoulder; he let me touch his belly but never his head.
so sorry for your loss, losing a pet is a heartbreaking experience.... it can be devastating. I just lost my dog, and it's just horrible, I don't want to believe that it's real. I could cry forever. I hope you're doing alright, take care.
You have such a good heart. What joy this lovely little intelligent fella brought to your lives. And what a wonderful life he had with you both. I am so very sad for you.
this is very sad i loved all your vids of charlie right now im kinda crying and i hope my 2 parakeets dont die erly and ther not sick any way i feel bad for you.you had a wonder full bird with comin secens
I see the grief in your face as you tell these sweet stories of your "cheeky boy" Charlie. What a beloved and precious budgie he was. I too share with you the loss of a beloved budgie. I'm sure Charlie and my Sonny (a female) would have loved a visit with each other. They are visiting now in Heaven to be sure!. Take care mate.
Hello there, i suddenly lost my budgie Peter (Petey) last night. He looked just like Charlie, just a little smaller and he couldnt talk. It's funny though how we still could understand everything he was saying. He was currently helping raise 2 little chicks. He was such a good father and mate. I got Pete from my dad's friend, but he didnt know what he was giving up. Like your Charlie, Pete will always be remembered and loved, and no other bird can ever take his place. Thank You for the video.
I'm sure Charlie's in Heaven. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet. We had to put one of our dog's down because she had gotten poisened and the damage was irreversible. I'll never forget her.
i am so sorry about ur lost. I've lost already 2 budgies. So i know how it feels. But I know charlie was exetremely special and extaordinary bird to you that must been very hurtful
im really sorry about ur bird charlie, he was 1 of the best budgies on utube. I know how hard it is 2 move on but u must and im sure charlie would want u 2 do the same thing. God bless charlie. :o)
i lost so many pets they are my special friends one died saving me the other died becuse she mist me and some died when my animal shelter burned down thats why i want to dedicate my life on helping them..sorry for your loss.
this video made me cry because it reminded me of when i lost my birdie as well in september 2007,he was almost 3,i caught him flying around in my school,he was like my baby guardian angel,as so is Chralie who is small but watches over you
you lost a special little friend there, at least you have some videos of him so thats good, bu tlilke you says on one of the other ones...they are all individual and have their own characters...just like people really cant replace a person or a budgie....only thing i really hate about haveing a pet,is its really tuff to take...a budgies life span isn't long enough..expecially a such a special one as your charlie...I can see he was brilliant...thanx for shareing your story :D
Really sorry for your loss, I have a Tortoise and a Cat but I lost my 2 dogs when I was 9 when I moved so I can imagine how you feel , Its horrible when you lose your pet their your family. Thankfully I have a young Tortoise now who will live longer than me lol. I learned I'm just happy I got to know my pets before there gone. So just know everyone feels your loss and your bird it probably in a better place. Take it easy.
Charlie is really funny, I love him. I lost 3 birds yet :((... I really loved them all, so I can imagine, what you feel and how you feel it. I also can imagine, why Charlie loved you sooo much; you are nearly bringing me loving you, too ;) Keep on, the world of animals needs people like you.
I'm very sorry for your loss!My smart little budgie,Mack, and I loved to watch Charlies videos.People thinks birds only mimick and don't know what they're saying but I beg to differ
Thanks for sharing your vidios with us, i know how it feels i lost my budgie a couple of weeks ago but i got 3 new budgies. I hope you get over your loss of charlie. R.I.P Sparkie & Charlie!
THank you for sharing this with us. It was so moving, but beautiful (as I wipe a tear from the corner of my eye). I have a "charley" also who talks up a storm, picks phrases up in a few days. Couldnt cope if I lost him, he's only 7 months old and I cant imagine my life without him. But we have to go on. RIP Charlie and I continue to watch your videos over and over again. Thank you for sharing them with us.
NO! I WAS HOPING THAT IT WASN'T THE SAME CHARLIE BUDGIE THAT WAS MAKING THOSE VIDEOS! He was so cute. He was a really nice bird, I think I'll miss him too. My budgie liked his videos as well.
Thank you for sharing the video, my budgie died yesterday and i already miss him so much. I had him for seven years and he was a real companion for me and my family.
I love your videos and i hope everything goes well for you and your other budgies. Regards
I just found YouTube today on the Internet. I was moved by your tribute to your parakeet, Charlie. I have had parakeets since 1982 and love them. In fact, I can't live without them. Understand your pain. Regards.
I am so sorry for your loss of Charlie.I lost my neighbor and i inherited his budgie hes name is Charlie and please have a look at some of my videos and have a laugh with my Charlie he is quit a hand full.
Thank you for sharing this. I know how you feel about Charlie. I lost my budgie when I was 13 years old. I'm 23 now and I still think of him a lot. He was such a cheerful little guy... When I close my eyes I can still feel him sitting on my hand and I can still hear him singing. We also had a video, but I just can't find it. :(( That's why I watch your Charlie-videos over and over again. Greetings from Germany!!
I am so sorry about this little bird and your loss. They sure bring joy for the time we share their lives and such a hole in our hearts when they are gone.
2 years ago that was and i cant evengo a day without wishing id been there for her last moments. what i totally regret leaving her. now i cant even stay somewhere without worrying that maybe frankie will just get sick and die, or any of the others i have. but im trying to get over it, and i hope that you will be okay too, he seems an awesome budgie your charlie. and i will miss him =[ knowing there wont be any more videos of him on youtube.
i went to my sisters for a stay at the new year, and came back home on new years day... mum said buddie wasnt well, and i should go see if she was okay... but i didnt find her sitting there being an okay budgie, or lying there ill... i saw her just lying there... motionless...
hey im sorry about charlie, im so happy to see there are more people out there who cherish their birds as much as i do, i lost my first ever budgie, buddie, on new years day 2005, and after watching your videos of charlie, and this tribute to him, brought up some of the most important memories i had with buddie, she never talked or sung much, but we were so close...
Hello Frank, I discovered your budgie videos tonight, and am so glad I did. Your tribute to Charlie reduced me to tears, brought back beloved memories of a little budgie that forever turned me into a hopeless birdman. Her name was Ralston.
Thank you for sharing Charlie and your very own little slice of birdy heaven with us. You and Charlie were fortunate to have known each other. Bill in San Francisco
Hi Frank, greetings from me and my 5budgies,the sixth budgie "junior" died last week.;-(( The place where the budgies going I call Rainbowbridge.Dont worry.Charlie ist playing now with my Junior and so many friends in the Rainbowland.Jana
Frank, I'm so very sorry for your loss. My budgie, PJ, died in September 2006 and the grief was so overwhelming. I recently got another male budgie and he and I are bonding very well. He's only 6 months old and already giving kisses, talking, and sitting on my finger. I think it's so sweet that you not only love your birds but also take the time to share your relationships with the rest of us. God bless you and keep up the good work with your budgies! Margaret
Margaret, thank you so much for that lovely comment. I know what you have been through. We have loved and cared for our pets, and grieved at their departure. Although we will never forget our dear little friends, we must now move on, as we have new loves in our lives who are relying on us for their care and welfare, and we give it gladly.
That's the sad part of pets: they live for such a short time and one misses them so much. You will never forget Charlie, but I hope you shall find another animal friend.
I miss Snowball so much. It's like losing your own child. I feel like I'm the only one who can protect and care for him and I can't anymore. I feel so empty and hopeless. Sorry for spilling all of my emotions out on your video. I'm sure you miss Charlie as much as I miss Snowball. It's good to know we're not alone.
My baby Snowball passed away this Sunday due to a digestive clot. He was such a happy, cheerful, smart, and compassionate bunny. He was always there for me when I needed him. I could share anything with him while he just sat there and listened. He always followed me around wherever I went and now, whenever I turn around I expect to see him following me but he's not there anymore. I miss him so much and wish I'd spent more time with him. He has taught me so much about cherishing life.
I'm sorry brother .. i've lost lots of them too + my own cat .. i brought her when she was a baby with closed eyes till she became big & she used to follow me everywhere .. sleep when i sleep .. even goes to the loo when i go .. my mom told me that my cat used to cry everyday when i go out till i come !
It was so hard for me when she died !
Once i was in my bed & i felt her steps coming to me like she used to & i looked for her but it was just a feeling only .. i cried after this !
I wish to express my sincere condolescence for the loss of Charlie,I encountered similar circumstances when I lost my African Grey parrot in 2002 after living with me for decades.Till now,I have not completely recovered from this traumatic experience
I understand very well how you must feel losing such a special friend. I had a very special one, he didn't talk, but was very affectionate and we were so close. I was devasted when he died. Your birdie was beautful, you were so lucky to have him, and he had wonderful like, because of you, he was all he could be, his personality. Beautiful.
I can imagine your pain, considering I went through my budgies death in December. It was the hardest thing I ever had to deal with, he was 9 years old. My budgie also talked but he could not nearly say as many words as Charlie. He would sit on my shoulder and talk to me and also talk to mirrors and loads of other things. I miss him so much, I still cry and its been about 5 months. I can never forget Bird. Rest In Peace Charlie!
It's not uncommon here to end a pet's life by your own gun, but I think I couldn't do it. I rather help animals than kill them. I still feel like shit. It's so stupid life can end like that.
How awful to lose a pet in that way. If the child was hurt badly by the dog, then I think your father probably did the right thing, but if it was only a minor bite, then it was probably unwise. The child and parents may feel really bad about your fathers actions, I hope they all talked first, before the action was taken.
We lost one of our dog in last autumn (got hit by a car). And now my dad shot other dog (only under one year-old) because he bite our neighbour's child. I can't accept what my dad did, I almost consider it as a murder, I felt like I should die because although I told him not to kill her he still did it. He said he doesn't like killing animals but it doesn't really help the situation.
Charlie was so cute. It was nice to you to share all this with everybody.
I cried for every single little pet friend I had that died (hamster, canary, guinea pig). The problem is, as you said, that animals live shorter than us. So we always have to feel sad for their loss sooner or later. But it's always worth it to have had them with us, isn't it?
I'm watching all your videos this morning. So interesting! Thank you! Ciao from Italy. Silvia
Thank you for your very touching tribute to Charlie. He seemed like a very special budgie. I lost my 16-year-old Dusky Conure in 2005. She was amazing and so funny. I will always miss her so much.
amazing creatures aren't they. some people find it hard to believe how attached people can get to their pets. this video made me cry as i've just lost one of my cats
This video literally brought tears to my eyes. I lost a budgie 6 years ago who I still actually dream about now. (I dream more about my old budgie than my boyfriend...) Charlie was absolutely amazing, very intelligent and very cute. Thank you for sharing your story.
Your welcome, TinTin. It still hurts too much for me to watch this video now, but I've never dreamed about him, unlike Kate (see 'Is there a heaven'). Hope your boyfriend doesn't feel jealous!
Hello Frank... I just wanted to thank you for this beautiful video blog tribute to lovely Charlie... He was indeed a beautiful bird and I can see that the stole a piece of your heart forever... Thank you Frank.
It was so sad to watch this tribute to Charlie because it brought back so many memories of when I've lost a dear pet budgie ( I've lost 7 now ). It hurts every time. I just adore them so much.
i watched half the video but i cant see it all, Im really sorry for your loss, my lovebird had passed out a few years ago. You get one thumbs up from me!

Beautiful eulogy for Charlie, as he was one to remember! My family loves the Charlie videos. Thank you, Frank, for posting those! Please tell me, I am Canadian and do not know; what does the term 'chopsey' mean?

"chopsy" is a slang term we would use to describe someone who talks incessantly!

Stenaphee 2 years ago
Thanks Stenaphee, I had to smile at your budgie singing in welsh! Budgies are great ones for varying words and phrases in sentances, which can be very funny at times. I don't think your bird was in any way muddled.

Some people don't understand what it means to care for a loyal dog, therefore they don't know how to sympathize with someone who does.
cycler2009 2 years ago

R.I.P. Charlie

i might as well tell you the dramatic story of my budgie. he looked very ill. he slept all day and pooped alot obvisly trying to get something out of his system. my other budgie tried her best to cheer him up, preening him and requrgitating food for him. the next morning he was still alive, but was in a dead pose. i picked him up, he streched his wings and died in my very own hands! we think he loved us and waited to say goodbye.

I just found this and I hope you're doing better.

It's not uncommon here to end a pet's life by your own gun, but I think I couldn't do it. I rather help animals than kill them. I still feel like shit. It's so stupid life can end like that.
WrestlingRage 4 years ago
How awful to lose a pet in that way. If the child was hurt badly by the dog, then I think your father probably did the right thing, but if it was only a minor bite, then it was probably unwise. The child and parents may feel really bad about your fathers actions, I hope they all talked first, before the action was taken.

I was gonna try to train the dog not to bite people, but I dunno if it would have been possible.

It was so sad to watch this tribute to Charlie because it brought back so many memories of when I've lost a dear pet budgie ( I've lost 7 now ). It hurts every time. I just adore them so much.
