Good god man, if I had known you by the time this had been concieved I would have been honoured to play drums for you. Great song, sounds like Primus, but not, weird how that works. And the singing? I'll be honest I love singers who are different and you're up there, great song, Rust In Peace, say hi to Cliff and all the other musical talents who were taken too early.
I definitely hear the Iron Maiden influence. There is no denying it! Helen Keller could hear it. It sounds like a cross between Iron Maiden and Primus. Your heavy bass lines come through for sure. Don't be hard on yourself as far as the guitar playing is concerned. I started playing guitar, but now when I pick up my Strat I know that I sound like a bass player, which I find that I can do some cool melodies that most guitarist would not have thought about.
LOL. If you wanna know how I play, I simply do not care....that is my secret. I do not care what the chords are or the scale or the key signature. That stuff is for musical geniuses, not a slammer like me. All of my playing is sheer emotion and what I think sounds cool...that's it. I make some mistakes, but on balance I do it right more often than not. Knowing what you are doing often gets in the way of passionate playing. Better to not think, but feel.
Hobby. I do not believe in disseminating my music for cash (and who'd buy this stuff?...I record it on my laptop!). I have a video called "Download my crap" that tells you where to get my stuff for free. My myspace page has the most music, but you can't download it from there.
Awesome song! Sonded like a cross between Green Jello and the Dead Milkmen. Loved your message at the end as well. My two boys are having this very same problem with a new kid at school. Unfortunately he's finding that their circle of friends IS unbreakable.
I describe my voice as the sound of a flushing toilet, but that unfortunately insults toilets everywhere.
Seriously, I wish I did not have to play everything because frankly, I am no vocalist. I can do voices, and I'm not bad at the James Hetfield voice or death metal growls. But that still is a rather limited capability. I get by, but I'd rather get by with someone who knows what they are doing.
I play a smattering of keyboards and I do a smattering of drum programming, but only what I need to accompany the bass when I record. I freely admit to being a bass-centric musician.
I do not consider myself to be a guitar player by any stretch of the word. I sound like a bass player trying to play guitar... too few hammers/pulls. Guitar playing provides ideas for bass chords, though, and it helps with developing pick technique. The physics between the instruments are very different, though.
Well thats interesting, I started a little bit of keyboard just last night in the hope I could incorporate it into bass. As a musician that does a little bit of keyboard would you say it could work?
Its always worth giving things a shot, and perhaps since you are transferring your tunes to bass, you would probably have a style all your own precisely because of transpositional difficulties.
Of course. I didn't think of that, I knew they'd be difficulties, but whos to say thats a bad thing? Also after doing something after facing difficulties the feeling of acomplishment is immence!
Its the dry guitar style. I still have not figured out how you guitar players get that bigger, thicker sound. But it suffices for cheezy tunes like my old Mojo Bobfoot diddies.
you fixed the RICK!! nice one zodiak! this is a rape video...you gotta lot of time on your hands LOL...i like the guitar playing, first time i've seen it! and duuude Ibanez? AGH why does everyone have one of those?
Thanks, Nate. Its always good to see you, and there is no requirement that you hang out and say something for every vid I post. We all have lives...lol.
There was a brief period in time when that Karate Kid guy was playing the bully in all kinds of movies. I managed to get a shot of him about to "table-lift" in "One of the Guys".....classic.
If there were an oscar for Bully, he would have won it.
you could have used some backing guitar to make the song sound more full, but sounds great nonetheless! props to you for making a good song by yourself =)
Thanks. You are right, of course. The only problem is that I promised I'd make these songs as true to the original Mojo Bobfoot version as possible, and we only had one guitar player.
Guitar was ok. But the bass really shines in this song. nice job. Ive played guitar for a long time.. about 8 years and im pretty good.First time i tryed it, I assumed playing bass would just be an easier guitar. But nah, it takes a long time to get a feel for a bass.
That's funny....I feel exactly the same way about the guitar. I suck at guitar, frankly, but I have to play some of it in order to get the song done. Because of it, I tend to take a minimalist approach to guitar work.

nice vid zodiak... quirky tune... very primusy vocals.... one of the girls at the end (the b&w pic) looks like a girl from my high school who committed suicide because of bullying...
The girl in black and white was bullied in Great Britain, I believe. They picked on her simply because she was an "ugly-duckling", if I recall the story correctly.
Suicide is the #3 killer of teens, and most cases involve some form of bullying. It's an untold epidemic that needs to be spoken of openly.
And one more thing, asshole....just so you know. About half of the people featured at the end of the video who killed themselves because of bullies did so because they were called "gay" constantly.
Makes you feel so cool calling things "gay", doesn't it? Well, from where I stand that makes you a fucktard.
And you are fucking banned for being a homophobic twit. Take your slurs somewhere else, because that kind of bullshit language has no place in my channel. I will not tolerate it.

Just take the lesson as it is intended. Cool people do not use homophobic slurs, and you are not one of the cool kids. Bye now.
By the way, I am typing this from my workplace. I am a research scientist with a Ph.D. in entomology. Nice try with the "no life" attack, but it hardly fits. And I'm 38, not 50....I know it is hard for homophobic pre-teens to age adults, but them is the facts.
Hahaha! Nice I loved the lyrics! "Give me your lunch money so I can by a 12 pack or whiskey and steal a snow plow!" As always great job on the instrumentals.

Sure, as long as you understand that what you write in keyboard may not be very easy to play on a fretboard because of spatial considerations.
