Hook that little bastard to 110VAC through a dimmer switch (for volume control) and lets test durability. Stick it in a box tuned to 60Hz and blast that shit. Back int the day we did that shit with three 4 Ohm Rockford Power 12's (nickname W6 Killa) and they played for two days before the building manager called the cops. If you calculate I = V/R and guesstimate 1.75 ohms - thats nearly 7000 watts, but it's less than that, and the load is reactive..... but still it is a cool thing to do.

Ok quick question, Say you have 2500 watts rms, and you have a singe 15 rated for 2500 rms or 2 15's rated for 1250 rms each. As far as "Loudness" they should be the same right, 2500 watts worth of sound produced but the 2 15's will move more air. So, my question is why would you want a single higher rms sub vs. 2 lower rms subs that equal the same rms. Just curious after seeing such a high powered 8".

@yzf7steve No, more cone area, the louder. Xmax is key too, and this Sa-8 has plenty of it. This woofer is build to run with more then one woofer. You can have 1 sa-8, but if it's a higher rms, then why not go for a 12. But I do see your point.

@StephenAudios How loud a woofer really depends on the t/s specs, cone area is just one variable. a 15 that has a t/s alignment that works better in a sealed enclosure wont be as loud as an 8 with a t/s alignment that works better in a ported alignment, in most cases.

@meade916 a free air sub is just a sub with out an enclosure restraining the movements by keeping the air from moving freely. It does bottom out more easly and thats it. Doesnt mean its going to explode! Thats what i think!

@jacobblain9 That sub is wired in parallel. When wired in parallel the ohms is divided by 2. (When wired in series the ohms is multiplied by 2.) It could be a dual 4ohm so the amp has a 2 ohm load. Or a dual 2ohm so the amp has a 1ohm load.

As for comparing a 12" L7 to a 8" sub are you a retard? Frist off there two diffrent subs, made for two diffrent markets, secondly The UK trade price for an l7 is £185-190 and rrp is about £220-250.. Even second hand your looking at least £90-100 for a newish model. If your going to compare it compare it with a simlar spec'd same size sub., e.g. Earthquake sw8
