Ther is not a single inaccurate statement in that PNAC letter to President Clinton.

When Saddam kicked out the UN weapons inspectors, there was no way of knowing if he was enriching the 550 metric tons of yellowcake uranium his army was 'safeguarding' for the UN, or developing other WMD's.

Bush even gave Saddam a final 48 hours before the war began to take himself and his family out of Iraq, in order to avoid war AND captivity/arrest.

Saddam chose poorly.

Bush lied - there was no evidence that Saddam was working on a nuclear bomb after UNSCOM had been kicked out in 1998.

Iraq did not have the centrifuges to make a bomb. And the embargo was still in effect. Almost all of Iraq's WMD had been destroyed in 1991 GWI or in 1991-1998 during the UN inspections. And there was no evidence - from the CIA or elsewhere (like Israeli intelligence) that Iraq had centrifuges or was processing uranium.

The inspectors remained all the way up to the last minute notice, and kept saying that despite complications, and they kept urging the U.S government that the inspections was working.
