Canada and U.S aren't so different from country to country becuz both nations adopt similar ideologies, like free trade, immigration, democracy ect. We both still deal with the same quality of people, international affairs, and political issues in not identical but similar ways. Then why are taxes so different? Becuz Canadians places more money into social programs vs the U.S. The BIG social program called "Health Care" is the biggest Culprit to why Canada's tax is so high. End of discussion!

Canada's welfare program only gives enough for people to get by. There are restrictions and monitoring for participants like a limit on money they can spend on certain stuff like housing, car ect. And if they receive a job its reported by their social card. Its crafted in a way to prevent people from cheating or elevating above their expected standard. But unfortunately there drawbacks like the incentives not to work or illegal acts. Even so, we can't blame that on the legit ppl who use it.

Canada is still a small population country who is still accepting immigrants. By the time we close the gates to immigration, our immigrant #s would be in the millions. Sadly, while we accept immigrants we have to allow these new comers free welfare, health care ect. which raises the taxes for people like you and me. But what we are counting on is that these citizens well eventually contribute back which some have but others still need time. Its a slow progressive investment in its early stages.

But there's no doubt we still have a large minority (immigrants) that depend competely on the government to become adjust to their new settings. Canada has a higher tax because its a more socialist country in comparison to the U.S. Such programs like welfare, health care costs tons of money which the government raises from taxations. Canada is socialist for a reason, because of its high multicultural population who needs time and help to be integrated into the country. The U.S Social system is just different from Canadas, where they invest more in the higher classes like big companies that drive their economy and less to the lower class. Thus, If Canada controlled the U.S , it would shift aid and benefits from the rich big cats to the lower class instantly.
