  • this is dobie gray dude not bob seger

  • Not Seger! WTF! The uploader is such a dumb ass!

  • wow nice pics dude

  • This is absolutely Dobie Gray, but... if Bob Seger ever decided to cover this song, he could probably come pretty close. Someone should give him a call...

  • hahaha thats because this is most definitely Dobie Gray. idgits lol

  • This is Dobie Gray's 1972 Hit Drift Away not Bob Seger

  • @MyGuitarman55 '73

  • Seger.... his name is spelled S E G E R. No A. And this is Dobie Gray for sure.

  • @jasonsladder1 This is Bob Seger ! You need to listen to all of his music to know he can do most everything in music the corrct way....

  • @peow130 I'm not saying Seger isn't a great musician.l'm saying this song is not Seger it is Dobie Grey.Just listen to Dobie and then to this.Bob Seger never even did a cover of Drift Away.Search around the internet and if you can find the album or any footage or anything that shows Seger ever did this song then l'll admit my wrong and stand corrected my friend. But l'm afraid you'll never find it because Seger never did this song. Dobie Gray my friend Dobie Gray.Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  • @jasonsladder1 Yeah, my mom was on Youtube under my account.

  • @peow130 Lol....

  • @peow130

you are a complete moron. Its Dobie Gray. Why would you say this is Bob Seger? You are likely someone that heard Hollywood Nights one time and think that makes you an expert on Bob Seger and rock music in general. The truth of the matter is, you are simply an idiot. Do everyone a favor, and just get off of youtube forever.

  • @randyfloyd07 Wasn't even me that posted this, fuckface. Do everyone else a favor and kill yourself, you scumbag piece of shit.

  • I know that's NOT Bob Segar! It's the late Dobie Grey. I love this name. Uncle Kracker did a updated version few years back!

  • I do think it would be interesting to hear Bob Seger sing this song, but this definitely isn't him.

  • I BEN A BOB FAN FOR A LONG TIME THIS IS NOT HIM. I STILL ENJOYED.

  • How could someone make a mistake like this? Both Doby Gray and Bob Seger are awesome artists, but you should be sure who sings what before you post it for the public to see.

  • @psanzotta1 Nope ! It's Dobie Gray ! Doesn't even sound like Bob, not husky enough !

  • This is Doby Gray not Segar! Fix the title!!!

  • Damn, At first I thought great - Bob Segar singing a classic jam that I never heard before..... Wrong

  • I know Bob and this isnt Bob..and I used to have this record.....Its Doby Gray.....R.I.P. Mr. Gray.

  • This is Dobie Gray's original version, not Bob Seger. R.I.P. Mr. Gray.

  • R.I.P. Dobie Gray, may you rest eternal peace...

  • this song is really inspirational for me....I love it!

  • RIP Dobie, best song about music I can recall

  • R.I.P. Dobie Gray, dead at 71. Passed on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.

  • @gttdkt the news article i read made him 69.

  • RIP Dobie Gray

  • I thought I had missed something. Nice to hear Dobie Gray's voice though.

  • I actually laughed at this when I heard it was Dobie...didn't sound too much like Seger. Oh, well....Dobie did it best!

  • Best cover of Dobie Gray I've heard yet... sounds just like him!

  • BOB SEGAR????????????????????

  • A Bob Seger cover would be pretty sweet

  • This is so not Bob Seger

  • dobie gray bud

  • what an enlightened message.........thanks for that inspiration.........one spirit at a time.........leading 2 heaven on Earth!

  • is it just me, or does Bob Seger sound exactly like Dobie Gray in this video?

  • @koshti09 I always knew that Segar has soul ... but dayum ... :)

  • @koshti09

I just got done listening to Dobies version, and said the same thing to myself.

It is just on of those songs Seger was meant for.

  • @koshti09 They do sound a bit alike, but, of course, this is Dobie Gray. I don't think Seger ever did this song though he had some massive hits.

  • @petdance- thanks for the info, and henry kurtz first recorded it before dobie, life is for learning.

  • my dads goin 2 see him in concert 2 day

  • not bob but i love that Bass!BUM bum...BUM bum

  • @sbenson500- its not a cover, dobie wrote it, and sung it originaly

  • @wingman572 Dobie Gray did not write it. It was written by Mentor Williams.

  • @petdance Williams may have wrote it, but Greg McPherrel first expressed it in pantomime.

  • sorry but this is dobie gray

  • Not Bob Seger, but the best cover, in my opinion.

  • Not Seger people!

  • I was confused for a moment until I saw the first few comments! thank you for clearing it up, I was gunna say how many remakes of drift away are there. Lol. (:

  • uncle kracker sucked at this song i hate him

  • I love the stones Jaggers vocals wasn't made for this. Uncle Cracker. I'm not even going to respond. Seger did It very well the first version I ever heard. I beleive. I've listened to this shit all my life. But, Doobie Gray is the best. You got to give the Devil his due!

  • @MrFireinthehole420

I think Uncle Kracker did a good tribute to this, he didn't try to change it up too much and I'm not a fan of his music in general, just think he did a nice job w/ it. THAT being said, I agree with you, NOBODY does this song like Dobie Gray!! He puts some serious soul into this and I always smile when I hear this song.

  • Why does everyone think seger did this song? Dobie Grey all the way =)

  • @KimNick14 Well this is Dobie Gray's version, but orriginal was recorded by John Henry Kurtz

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Dobie Gray all day long!!!! this video should be taken down for wrong info, ignorance and stupidity

  • This is Dobie Gray

  • This is not the legend Bob Seger and if you know anything about ROCK music you will know this, this is the original singer Dobie Grey

  • @mrdarryk1 if you know anything about ROCK music then you know Dobbie's was a cover (the first cover) and the original was sung one year earlier by John Henry Kurtz.

  • It is Dobie Gray. I don't believe Bob Seger actually did this song. Although, they do have a very similar sound and both know exactly how to make you feel the songs, not just hear them. ;) I would not call the person who uploaded it a retard, though. If you listen to Bob Seger then this song, you'd notice how easy it could be, for someone that wasn't familiar with both, to be mistaken.

  • its defently Dobie Gray retarded uploader..

  • Oh man I was watching another video of this where Dobie was accurately credited and when I saw this video in the suggestions I was super excited to hear Seger do it, but this whole video is just a ruse.

  • sounds like dobie to me...pretty sure this guy is right

  • That is not Seger!!!

  • this is Dobie Gray !!!!

  • I think chainxmexfree121...explained that it wasn't Bob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you would read, u'd undrstand!!

  • i love this song, and Bob Seger is one of my favorite artists , but this is Dobie Gray. Also one of my favorites. I wish people would research songs before they credit the wrong person.

  • This a great version. It is Dobie Grey. To the best of my knowledge, Bob Segar didn't record this song. I do think that the version by Uncle Kracker is just as good. The original version was recorded in 1972 by John Henry Kurtz, who puts a little country into it.

  • Great song , but it ain't Seger!!

  • the best song (love)

  • Come one everyone, we all know it is dobie, though at the beggining it does sound like bob segar tho not as raspy

  • Nice Dobie Gray version, not Bob Seger

  • This here Bob Seger, "Drift Away," is almost as good as Bob Seger's versions of "Non, je ne regrette rien," "Shaft," and "Dear Yoko." I'll have to put this on the mix CD I give everyone on December 25, Bob Seger Day. Hot damn!

  • Thanks! I was looking for this version by DOBIE GRAY.

  • this isnt bob seger fat ass

  • DOBIE GRAY.

    FIx It !

  • What's the deal with posting this as Bob Seger? Jeeezzzzuuusss!

  • Great song but definitely NOT Bob Seger.

  • Definitely Dobie Gray... I was really hoping Bob Seger had covered this and I just hadn't heard it yet. Dang. Had me all excited... /:

  • Dobie Gray for sure. but still a good 'ol song and decent post. With practice comes perfection.

  • bob seger is the greatest

  • no bob seger, it's dobie gray, i used to play it in my band,

  • You're right...Not Bob Seger!!!!!

  • THIS IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!!!

  • i grew up on bob seger cause my mom is a huge fan (im 23) and any fan can tell this isnt seger. this isnt his "classic raspy, shouting voice" (straight from wikipedia), and any fan really should be upset at your blatant lie. please change the name of the video to match the singer

  • This aint BOB!

  • you suck

  • @whiteej21 Exactly - well said. I never knew it wasn't written by D Gray til I WIKI'd it. , nor that it was performed by John Krutz first. But it is of course the classic version. AS for all this crap others have said about Bob Seger, ..., I smell trolls !

  • i like this song confusion is think fog

  • He don't know Seger and many of you can't spell it. Haha.... Seger could do it justice though. Too bad he never covered it.

  • Comment removed

  • NOT SEGER

  • Love the song but Seager never did this

  • this aint seeger you fuckin nutbush

  • Well as much as "who is right" is important, "what's right" reigns supreme here. Be it Seger or Gray, the song remains the same...no, it's not Robert Plant :)

Listen to the messgae and please, please put down your egos

  • this is not bob segar !!!!!!!!!!

  • This is Doby Gray singing

  • I love this song best version out of all 800 or so

  • Who the fuck, is "Dobie Gray??"

  • @SkidRowJosephine Dobie Gray wrote the song "Drift Away"

  • I imagine Seger could definitely do the song justice, but this is definitely Dobie Gray. Actually I do believe that not even Dobie Gray's is the original. It's just the most well knows version.

  • Such a great peaceful song and so much hate in all the comments. WTF is wrong with all you people!

  • ALSO LittleRabbit. It has nothing to do with me being right. As 90% of all the other responses here state that it is Dobie Gray. You Dumb fuck has to make it personal. You know nothing about me so dont even speculate what type of personality i have unless you are the amazing Kreskin. But the little bunny wouldnt know who that is The point i was making was this version here IS NOT BOB SEGER Like alot of idoits claim thats all. I am right not wanting to be right I am right along with everyone else

  • WHAT A DUMB FUCKIN IDIOT YOU ARE LITTLE RABBIT! The point is not if Bob had done a live version of this song in concert. THE POINT DUMBFUCK is that BOB DID NOT DO THIS VERSION DUMBFUCKIN IDIOT. Let me repeat that for the dumbfuckin little rabbit. BOB DID NOT DO THIS ONE. THIS ONE DUMB FUCK, THIS ONE, THIS VERSION IS WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT! not if Bob sang in concert or ever covered it. Let me repeat to the intellicually challenged little rabbit. NOT THIS VERSION DUMB FUCK!

  • @LesSmith45 I sense someone has an anger problem...Of course it's Dobie Gray & NOT Bob Seger, but get a grip already.

  • @ripleymt No anger problem here i am one of the most kicked back guys out there. some idoit Keeps claiming that this could be Bob seger when 50 people here have stated for a fact that is not. Thats all. Just tired of his stupid what if comments that my 6 year old does thats all. Making stupid points about bob maybe doing this in concert. The point is this verision is not seger period. whos the dumb fuck that posted it claiming it was Seger. When in FACT it is not. A lie from the beginning

  • Definitely Dobie Gray.

  • best song ever, and this version tops the others in my opinion, btw really nice pictures!

  • that's the problem with music nowadays. they're sellin their souls for fortune and fame, but fail to realize that you need soul to make great music. tupac=soulful, michael jackson=soulful, left eye=soulful, etc. justin beiber, lil wayne, all of mainstream music wether it be rock to country, absolutely no soul, and dats why mainstream music today is garbage. NO SOUL= NO REAL MUSIC. thumbs up if you agree...

  • ROD STEWART please

  • Sorry it's Dobie Gray, and not Bob Seger. Still it doesn't matter it's a great song. While there might be some similarities in the voices, There is a difference if listened to closely.

  • change the title, braindead! it's dobie gray

  • People are bitching about a lot of shit....this song is fucking epic and it shows passion that is through the WHOLE SONG... the original is always the best version anyway so shut the fuck up because give me the beatboys and free my soul.

  • i cannot believe how many people think this is Bob Seger. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Have you been living under a rock? Everyone born before 1965 Knows this is Dobie Gray. Must be all the youth that knows NOTHING about Classic Rock, Soul & R&B. Their to busy texting each other their new Bieber song. You know that great rock artist, Justin Bieber. You know that kid that is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The one on this months cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. Makes me want to puke! WTF has he done?

  • @LesSmith45 U mad bro?

  • @LesSmith45 First off: Wow, you seem PISSED OFF..

Second: I don't think you did enough research to say that about Bieber. That kid IS talented. But he's a kid, a kid of the modern world. He can't be Bob Dylan, the Beatles, or John Lennon. You know why? Because it's 2011, not the 70s or 80s. Music of that time has its own charm and yes they are classic. But let's not rip on this kid who's also talented in terms of music. His songs are for younger people, not you. Grow up and stop bitching.

  • @biochemicalx only rich little preppie school girls think that justin beiber is talented.

  • @LesSmith45 i was born in 1987 and i knew this song is originally by dobie gray. but that doesnt mean that bob segar didnt do a cover, so this couldve easily been bob seger singing. and, in all honesty, i was born in 1987 and i thought dobie gray was the only singer of this, this is the first time i've heard bob seger, or anyone for that matter, sing this song. so jus because your born after 1965 dont mean shit. if you know den you know, if you dont know den you dont know, end of story...

  • @TheRabbit223 Your confused this IS NOT BOB SEGER! this is Dobie Gray. That is a fact. My point was todays youth has very little knowledge about classic rock. Not right, not wrong. They are caught up in the music of today where as when i was growing up one was hammered by all the great R&B, Blues and Rock artists of the 50's & 60's. for the record Bob Seger never has done a cover of this song. You want a cover check out Uncle Kracker's & Dobie Grays version of this song.

  • @LesSmith45 apparently youre confused too. yes i said " dis is da first time iv heard bob seger do dis song." and i admit you're right, dis is dobie gray. but MY POINT was just because da person who posted it got da singer wrong, doesnt mean bob seger NEVER EVER sang dis song. maybe he sings it in concert. have you been to every single bob seger to put me in check, i highly doubt it. so just because he never did a studio cover of this song, doesnt mean he's never sang dis song ever in his life.

  • @LesSmith45 as bledlll said in his comment; "who gives a fuck who sings it, just listen to the fucking song" but i get the feeling that you're one of those people who always have to be right, but what you fail to realize is dat no one gives a fuck if you're right or not, JUST LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONG. by the way, just because bob seger didnt do a studio cover to dis song, doesnt mean he's never sang it in concert. so in dat sense, YOU ARE WRONG! can you handle being wrong, little boy?

  • lol dont worry i was thinking it was a bob seger song too. i thought that for the longest time but i guess i was wrong lol

  • A great great song and for sure it's dobie gray not bob seger

  • this version is deffinatly segar. but either way its an absolutly amazing song!!

  • @leslie100909 This is NOT Bob Seger...it is Doby Gray!

  • you guys should not fuss and cuss over a song, but i would like to hear Bob sing this

  • dude...come on...Dobie Gray and Bob Seger are miles apart! both great vocal talents but come on!

  • yes i dont care who is singing it most do a awsome job listen to the music dont get hung up on who is sing it

  • That ain't Bob Seger. It's Dobie Gray.

  • @JobberBud YOU'RE SO RIGHT! THATS DOBIE GRAY

  • This version is not by Bob Seger, it's buy Dobie Gray, still great, just saying..

  • this isn't Bob Seger! it's Dobie Gray...love this song!!

  • good o;l day!!!!

  • one of my favorite songs

  • Definitely Bobby

  • This is the Dobie Grey version and anyone who attests to know anything about rock music will know this, It's been covered by everyone and their wife since, but definitely not Bob Seger, lol. So came on man, amend the title of your vid, otherwise we'll have kids all over the place looking for a Bob Seger version ;)

  • @warri0rs0u WARRIOR SOUL YUR RIGHT if u are gonna post music make sure u know who sings it DUMBAZZ

  • @warri0rs0ul right on!!!

  • @warri0rs0ul

    right on!!!

  • @warri0rs0ul My oh my Bobby your voice has changed so much. It now sounds exactly like the liquid honey voice of Dobie Gray. lol Love this song. I also like Bob Seger's version of Proud Mary he sounds a lot like Tina Turner on that one.;)

  • Comment removed

  • this is definitely not bob segar its dobie wtf get it right people

  • i love this song me and my human of 30yr and we still like to drift away , i love it bob seger sings it like no man can do

  • i love this song me and my human of 30yr and we still like to drift away

  • i love this song

  • Sweetheart....the art is as much in the choosing among the art of others as in the creations you make yourself. It's just lovely. I so needed to hear this today. And thank you for your kind words and wonderful gifts of music. You help center me in my own gifts. xo, Sal

  • Lol why does everyone think this is Seger? Its Doby Gray. Either way, its a great song to get lost in rock n roll and drift away to.

  • sounds more like a white guy. I just listened to the Dobie Gray version.

  • It was written by Mentor Williams and first recorded in 1972 by John Henry Kurtz

  • Hey! This is Uncle Kracker! Only kidding. Yes, it's Dobie Gray. Great song, but please change the title. Bob Seger is probably my favorite musician of all time.

  • Bob Seger NEVER sang this song.

  • hmmm bob segar sure does sound like dobie gray... but who care i love this song! it makes me feel all peaceful :D

  • Original was written by Mentor Williams, recorded by John Henry Kurtz according to Wikipedia.

  • who was the original?

  • It's not bob Seger it Dobie Gray

  • Danget i was like WOAH! a bob seger COVER! awesome, sure enough, just some idiot! DANGET!

  • This song has been covered by over 50 artists, but this version is the most popular, by none other than Dobie Gray.

  • Yea this isn't Bob....how could anyone be so dense? Seriously.

  • this is definately Dobie Gray but thats beside the point because this is one of the greatest song ever...nuf said

  • not seger dobie gray

  • it is Dobie Gray'
