This is a wonderful discovery for me, Don Preston! Wonderful avant garde keyboard player with Frank Zappa. So pleased he's still active. Be grateful that these tongue in cheek subversives bring such quality to the US airwaves.
god what the hell is up with the people doing this interview. they seriously need to do A LOT better of research then this. although don is doing a great job with these morons
It is very interesting to see how gracious Don is with these people. He is a real gentleman. He didn't say , for instance, "if you are huge fans of Zappa's music, why don't you know these things?" Don takes the proceedings Way UP.
These interviewers clearly have no knowledge of Don's music or his history. What a couple of chumps...or should I say lazy f*cking talking head morons!
As Don says -- frank was in DON'S band in the early 60s. Don used to do electronic music, (far before that term was understood... ) and they would perform in front of films of microscopic life. Don had all kinds of home-made filters, oscillators etc. Remember -- NO ONE sold synths at that point. Years later --as he says here - Zappa hired DON....and had been very influenced by the free-form and electronic sounds he learned about in Don;'s band. So -- full circle. Don was in the Mothers 1966-1974
There was a Mothers of Invention without Frank Zappa? Ringo Starr was in the Mothers? Hey, Don - It can't happen here - is that the Mothers?Do these people know who or what they are talking about? Don is quite gracious, I must say.
Looks like one of those cable TV, public access programs. It has to be said though Preston makes the best of it, and manages to get a few interesting words in. Preston is a master and a monster, if you have a chance to see his act live, don't miss it.
Flakes! Flakes!

The Don Preston you're thinking of played guitar with Leon Russell. This Don Preston was one of the innovators of electronic music.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your superficial criticisms of the guy and his hosts. Insightful.

It's not now, with Don Preston, but great to see him online...Bartok and Holst are my favorite freeform artists..
