hey brian DJ Rebell here, very important question for you. can you hook up the mega bar 50 rgb rc to the American DJ MICRO-WASH-RGBW and operate them in master slave mode with the remote.. i would luv to see that in action but in any case ill take your word for it.. thanx man
This is a fantastic fixture. I purchased a fleet of them for uplighting on the recommendations of DJ Brian Redd and of Victor Tognella at IDJNow. This past weekend I uplit my biggest catering hall yet, washing the walls in a purple that was a perfect compliment to the wedding colors. The bride & groom & their guests "loved the uplighting." Highly recommended. -- DJ Bri Swatek, Spinning with Style
Im planning on either getting the ADJ rgb profile panel or the mega bar 50. I can get either for £75. l plan on primarily using it in a 4x10m room. And then onto mobile dj applications in my gap year next year. anyway, which light would you recommend? which is going to fill the room most evenly? any advice would be much appreciated
mine should be here today! £75 in the uk, which is the same price as a regular megabar 50! if i like it i will eventually get 4 and put them in the same case as what u have got, cheers for the video!
Your videos are very helpful and I love all the info on the latest american dj products. One thing that really bugs me is the dmx cable vs. mic cable controversy. The only difference between them are the price tags and a bit of shielding, but a mic cables has more than enough. I have worked with several large sound and lighting companies and mic cables are all they use. The lights ( dmx dimmers,LED par cans, martin moving heads and any top of the line lighting fixtures) all run flawlessly..
@MATTTRUDELL It's an impedance thing. I have used Mic cable for DMX in a pinch and vica versa, but it's best to run Audio for Audio and Data for DMX. It's usually OK with simple fixtures, but you start seeing movement issues with things like scanners and moving heads if you use Audio. IF you buy a REAL expensive light, PLEASE use DMX cable to avoid damage
Brian I really like the abillity to control the lights remotely without DMX but do have one major concern about it. Say I hav several different types of lights from American Dj and they can all be controlled by remotes. if I pick up one remote for one light will it mess with all the other lights that work off of the same type of remote control? Also could you use to Witech 8's together at the same time with two remotes or would both units respond to the remote control that came with just one?
I'm looking into this too Bri.. but with the Par 38 and Par 64s for uplights around the room. This will eliminate the need for a controller and less dmx chords having to go all around the room. You can have an R/C light and a series of regular par cans for each wall. All you would need is 3 remotes. Eliminates chords at door ways and having to tape them.Your 4th wall you can run traditional dmx off your elation control or american dj my dmx.I've been planning out how I will do it for future gigs
I just recently purchase two of the Mega Bar 50's. They are great to use, I'm planning to purchase 4-6 of them. They have more coverage than DMX Par 64's. They coverage is wide but thin. What do you suggest using for applications, where the coverage has to be a square or rectangle area. I'm lending towards the profile my ADJ.
@flh8 There is a new light coming out called ( I THINK) the Flat Tri Par RGB from American DJ. NICE big 3 watt LED's and it does amber as well for around $199
Mr Redd your a bad bad man after seeing you can master slave an rc to controle other megabars iv now had to go and layout on an RC and a few normal mega bars the only thing putting me off uplighting was the initial run of 60ft + of dmx to the first one from my desk now problem solved thanks :D
hi brian if you was going to uplight a room what would you use do the mega bars give more light than lets say a piano spot i like the fact that the mega bars are nice and narrow and have less chance of getting kicked
@JACKKMASTER1 I'm not even sure what a Piano Spot is. These are pretty nice, though. I did a video a while back where I was in a room with 32 foot ceilings and these lit them up from top to bottom no problem
@briansredd thanks for the reply they look bright did check out your other video lighting the wall in the club sorry was still half asleep this morning should have put LED PAR64 Plano Can
@JACKKMASTER1 And yeah, the low profile aspect makes them less likely to get kicked around too much. Plus they transport so easy. Been using MEga Bars for over 3 years now and LOVE THEM!
Oh gosh. I found something i feel i definitely need. THANKS BRIAN!! the hook on this product is the RC & the Linking ability. I can definitely use these.
@MarkLeeCenter : It's always low res when the video is first loaded onto the web. It takes a few more minutes for Youtube to do some additional processing, so that the higher resolutions are then available. Youtube just prefers to get a low res version live first, then upgrade it to the higher res when the rest of it's processing is done.
CAN YOU PUT THIS LIGHT ON A CONSTANT SROBE WITH OUT DMX??

pretty neat bag! Bag's are sometimes much more handy when doing smaller gigs! Flightcases can be darn big and unhandy!
Check out the time lapse i did yesterday when i rigged up for a gig tomorrow. Looooads of gear! All Martin and Meyer Sound

I'm really interested in getting some of these. Can you control which part of the bars are lit? Say only light one half or one third of the LEDs?
slaction 1 year ago
@slaction Not on these, but you can do 3 ways on the full sized Mega Bar RGB's

Have you used the huge megabar? Would you prefer two of these smaller ones than 1 huge one?
rhymes116 1 year ago
@rhymes116 Yeah I use them all the time. Sometimes, the full meter long bars don't fit in areas you want to light so these 50's come in handy
briansredd 1 year ago
@rhymes116 - the big one can flash in "sections" -
...which is an amazing side to side wig-wag effect
The small ones ( 50 or 50rc) cant do that.

Brian, the rez quality of this video is lower than your regular videos; 240p. Just FYI.

As I can see it's 720p.
Guess YouTube needed some time to prosess the video!
