Hmmm What I don't get is that you got yelled at while there were TONS of people taking pictures and what not. You can actually see them taking pictures with the constant flashes going off. I don't understand why you were singled out. Great video!
@jackskellingtonsora I have alot of respect for her for doing this. I work with a community theatre group who is known for being perfect, and, on opening night of our 2009 / 2010 Season Finale, which was Our 10 Th Season B.T.W,
" Kiss Me, Kate, " at the end of scene 2, infront of a almost 200, a set of doors coming down on the fly system, hit my character's booth that was going - off, and we had to stop the show, and wait 10 minutes, and freak - out.
I bet Dolly loves this video.....she was written up in the 4/27/9 issue of NY magazine about her new play (which I saw---terrific!!!!) and is held in such high regard by cast members, audiences, and everyone else. She's the real thing!
I have to concur that if they ask you not to film things, it seems a little rude to do so, DAMN but I'd have been so tempted to do the same thing as you did. It WAS a literal once in a life time moment.
Leaving that debate to one side, massive kudos to Miss Parton for proving again she is the very definition of both "professional" and "classy lady" making sure her audience get a night they wouldn't forget.

Don't get me wrong - I get it - it's exciting and from what one person said, she didn't care. HOWEVER, I'm SO TIRED of rude public snapping pics and video at theatre events. That 'mean usher' was doing his job. Patti LuPone recently threw people out of a performance on Broadway for doing this. It's not only rude and illegal, but dangerous to the actors as flashes can literally blind you for a second and cause you to fall off stage. You're not at a Jonas Bros. concert. Have some respect.
I'm find it difficult to think of any current performer who would do the same thing. Dolly Parton is a legend and a class act all the way around. I can't WAIT for this show to open!!
lol thats so amazing! these peeple r sooooo lucky cuz this was not supposed to be the first performance... it was supposed to be a week before.... the people who thought that they bought opening night were probably pissed!!!!
Thank you so much!! My husband and I flew out from Tennessee and were at this show! From the looks of it, we were seated not far from you. We got a couple of pics before the mean usher caught us too!! What a fantastic night that was! Got to watch a wonderful new musical and Dolly entertains us in the audience!!!
I was on the opposite side of the theater that night...the funny thing was that Dolly was telling the ushers to just let all of the people taking pictures and video to just let them... it was such a great evening... I'm suprized more of these aren't up!
I'm so glad you got this on video! Unfortunately I was sitting on the aisle with a mean, mean usher lady right next to me :-( "What the hell do you want?" lol I love dolly!
This was by far the most amazing experience of my life. It's still so surreal that it actually happened. And I'm glad it was captured because I only got half of it on my cell phone :(
I love how you have a subtitle of lea laughing her pants off.

Do they have any right to tell you to put your camera away when this isn't even a part of the actual show?

Wow... cudos to Dolly Parton for being so good like that. Good enough to sing while there were technical difficulties. That's pretty awesome.
