  • absolutely fantastic .I have been Dubliners' fan for dozens of years and I particularly love this song , I play the button accordeon .Would it be possible to send me the "whiskey in the jar "tablature I am looking for for a long time ? I would be most grateful to you ; Yours friendly Wiganais jdanet@wanadoo.fr

  • I do not have tabs for this tune unfortunately. I originally learnt off sheet music which is now not a availble as I would like it to be. Glad you like my take on this! Hector.

  • Very good! You did great solo. I am impressed!

  • Thank you for your kind words! Hec.

  • Is that a two row or a three row button accordion? I am dying to learn how to play, and I've been looking on Ebay for something affordable, (under $400.00) . There are a lot of brand new three row accordions made by Bonetti. Do I want to start w/ a two row or a three row? I would be playing tunes like what you are playing, I love Celtic music! :D Hearing you play this has got me so excited, I can't wait to learn how to play!

  • wicked job

  • Excellant job!

  • Nice job done on this one. My compliments.

  • Hello, i'm from England. I use to play the melodion before i played the accordion. Where i live we have a day called mayday, a big festival with two bands playing accordions, melodions and drums. You can check out a video of it on my profile, it's in my favourites. I lived in Aus for a year, never came accross anyone playing folk music on wind instruments. It's good to see.

  • Brilliant, very well played, 5 stars. i play this on the accordion but a slightly different version mixed with the leaving of liverpool.

Isn't that a melodion though not a button accordion, i can;t see the other side but notice that it's one note out and one note in.

Anyway, a job well done keep it up!

    Cheers

    Jula

  • Hi Jula,

Thank you for your comment. We call it a button accordion in Australia. It does have the push/pull action. Buttons on both sides. I have heard the term melodion but think that it is the same thing. What country are you from?

  • woooohooooo!!!!!! I finally have found those bass runs!!!! I am soo excited. I must admit that I required the help of an piano accordion player at our music group meeting last night, but since I played your video on this morning and practised like crazy - I was finally able to match you.(sigh) Its like having to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time though!!

  • I love this! How are you workin the bass in the chorus? can you either try to explain or post another tube showing the bass, I would love to be able to do that run of bass notes.

  • I simply do as much of the scale as I can using the bass. So if you were on a 'C/G' squeeze box, you would go C, D, E, then F and back down. You can achieve a scale by getting as far up as A (starting at C). Practice the 6 note scale using the bass. When every your music suggests a 'C' chord followed by an 'F', just put in C,D,E,F between the change of chords. Hope this helps. I hope to do another clip soon and I will feature the bass. All the best. Hector

  • Thanks for the speedy reply! Another clip showing me which buttons you are using would be great, I can't read music so I am better off to be shown. I get what you mean about going c-f just need to know where the notes are. I have a CGF hohner corona III.

Other option is to explain the scale if you were to number the bass buttons and tell me if its a push/draw with the bellows. Cheers

  • If you would like me to play a song and pop some extra bass in, you could always try me and request something :)

  • Bravo, très belle interprétation ! Frédéric, from France
