  • I couldnever convert to Orthodoxy, as I take our doctrinal differences too seriously. But I have been to Russian Orthodox services as a sympathetic observer and friend of the russians who invted me there. I found the atmosphere most conducive to myown silent prayer, even if i could not understand the old slavonic liturgy, except for one or two utterances:

slava Otsu, I Sinnu, I Svyatomu Duchu.

    a truly fascinating experience

  • This is gorgeous. I have been Orthodox for nearly one year now coming from a Roman Catholic background. I have never experienced the profound worship that I have experienced as an Orthodox Christian. It took me over 20 years to convert but I am so glad that I have and feel the richest blessings that I have ever felt in my life. The Latin Mass has nothing compared to Orthodox worship and I was a devoted worshiper in that liturgy. Come to Orthodoxy to be rich in faith.

  • Помилуи мя, Боже, Помилуи мя....I am not sure there is another way to sing this in the whole world.

  • Russia and Serbia will always bless its Old Church Slavonic... +CCCC+...

  • May we all pray to the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother that Orthodoxy and Catholicism can return to one another. As a traditional Catholic I lament the split between our two Churches it pains me that we are separated. God Bless my Orthodox brothers and sisters!

  • The Chant is most beautiful and most important. Your video suited well. Thank you for posting..

  • It's almost Yule. Symbols of the star, the sun.

Christ a gateway to something older. Sun and ice. Bless.

  • Not a religious personn (atheist, agnosticist, as you want), but those chants are just mesmorizing. Thank you.

  • I love all Orthodox chants (Then again, I am orthodox, so I should), but espically the chants and hymns of the Slavic churches are my favourite! Many thanks for this video, greetings from a Bulgarian Orthodox in America.

  • No need for excuses on the pictures. It captures well the monastic, repentant spirit of these hymns from the beginning of Great Lent.

  • I love it! I rejoice with you that the church is back at the heart of the Russian nation. This is a work of God!

  • Бог свети нека благослови нашу сестру Русију!

  • А какой это хор поёт?

  • Очень похоже на хор Свято Успенской Киево-Печерской Лавры.

  • Wonderful! I wish i'd be orthodox christian, not lutheran.

  • Hi :-) My friend Laura, italian, also used to be catholic ;-), but now she is orthodox and live here in Moscow :-)

  • Twenty years ago I made the long journey to Orthodoxy. I is not automatic nor easy. The journey was worth it.. Christ is born, Glorify Him. Feast of the Nativity 2008

  • dear randloph.,

I don't get why something would take a long journey.

    .

Surely when something is seen as "better than" some existing thing, the discarding of the former is intantaneous?

    .

If you remember one of two chairs being much more painfully uncomfortable than the one adjacent to it, you will, when choosing, immediately sit on the more comfortable seat; no?

    .

    cheers.

  • Come on home, my friend. The water's fine! :-)

God bless you on your journey in Christ, wherever it may take you!

  • @orghhh777 I started as a Baptist (mom's church), then Methodist (dad's church), then joined Church of the Nazarene, then Assemblies of God, then United Pentecostal Church International. Then, Eureka! Finally, I discovered Orthodox Christianity! I converted to Eastern Orthodox Church via Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (jurisdiction of Orthodox Church of Constantinople). :D
