There is no excuse for people to not at least check a pulse on the person. Of course the people coming in at 3 a.m. for chronic foot pain that hasn't changed in 2 months, the 50 different complaint person who has seen 10 different specialists but still wants a general ED doc to fix his/her complaints, or the hispanic women their for pregnancy complication and wanting 3 kids with sniffles and fevers for 6 hours to be checked out have NO role in this.
As an X-nurse I can say for sure with no doubt. Cameras are needed in hospitals. After working a year in a hospital as a Registered Nurse, I wouldn't feel safe in a hospital without a camera in my room feeding out to 10 servers maintained by 10 different organizations that get paid to catch hospitals performing any form of malpractice. They would have to also audit each other. It actually wouldn't even cost that much to do. Just that no hospital would ever go for it unless it was law.
They just want everyone convinced the reason there are no cameras in a hospital is in order to protect the patients privacy... Total B.S. They could have nurses doing the auditing. It's not like the general public would ever see the footage, it would just be used in court cases in order to protect patients from malpractice. I quit nursing, I'm not some angry person that got fired. I run my own company now and I'm much better off now than when I was nursing.
They need to be held accountable for all those deleted files. There is absolutely NO REASON to delete a medical file. Not nursing notes, not x-rays, not vital signs or anything.... They downplay it when they delete a file, as if it wasn't important and that's why it got deleted. There is nothing that is recorded that isn't important. You always need it for History when you do an assessment. Even if there were a mistake you can record the mistake with a line through it.
If a nurse wrote notes on something a hospital had to delete, why would they pay a nurse so much to record everything about the patient as objectively as they could? Wouldn't it be less objective to have that nurses opinion on the matter deleted? Even if the nurse was mistaken about what was observed, wouldn't it be logical to have that extra professional opinion on the matter? This video is like having one camera at the entrance of the store but none throughout the store.
That security guard did nothing. The nurses didnt do anything because they were busy, but the security guard, as his job should have done something. I hope he gets fired. In my time as a volunteer, I saw someone pass out, in the hallway, all by himself. I IMMEDIATELY told the nurses . They all stopped what they were doing and helped that man, but if I didnt tell them, Im sure it would have taken longer.
What's even sicker than her being ignored after she fell on the floor is that she was waiting for more than 24 HOURS... I can't even fathom sitting there for that long. I hope that entire wing of staff went to prison for something so horrible.
maybe the medical staff could of checked her out if they wern't attending to patients being seen for a core throat when those type of people could go to their doctor instead!
Doctors and nurses deal with hundreds of patients every day. They cannot be two places at once. They only have two eyes in the front of their heads. To be honest someone in the waiting room should have noticed or said something.
The sickening part of the video (other than people just watching as these people succumb to their aliments) is that low-life scumbag lawyer. I love how lawyers can come along and go, "Well she waited for 45 minutes before she died, so therefore the hospital owes the family 45 million dollars." I got news for everyone, no amount of cash will bring your loved ones back from the dead. If you want to talk about a broken system, talk tort reform.
@Blood385 What I find more sickening is the inaction of all the people waiting in the room along with the lawyer. Sue for millions, crippling the hospitals whose employees are already overworked further reducing effective service. Increasing circumstances so that something like this could happen again is definitely the way to grieve.
How many people in the US are mugged, raped, assaulted, etc while the news crew focuses on Lindsy Lohan going to jail, Brittany Spears gaining weight, etc. I don't think the "news" has any business pointing fingers at the hospital for prioritizing. Also, how are hospitals supposed to help when they are cutback? People brought this on, by not having insurance, not paying bills, and hoping they could pay $10 a month on their $500k hospital bills.
The system is not broken. The system is clogged with millions of people per year crying wolf and acting as though they have a fatal issue to get unemployment or to get out of work.
just saw this for the first time. Sickening. Call it immorality, diffusion of responsibility, greed, whatever....What im getting out of this and the country the past few years is that the US sucks. I seriously want to live in another country when im done with school. I kno every country has their problems, but shit
My sister in law went into the ER for terrible pain only to be ignored for some time while her appendix ruptured, there in the waiting room. This was in Oregon.
@Xzashi104 Employees do care. They try their best with what they have and at times they run out of room! It doens't help that people start screaming at them because they have had to wait an hour. It is not employees fault that the wait times are high, there are very sick people that need immediate attention and unfortunately have to stay in the ER for hours at a time, using that bed.
Have any of you work in an ER? Sure shut down the ERs and what does that do? That puts other hospitals on overload and people dying in the ER waiting rooms will continue. The waits in Emergency Rooms are long because of many reasons. No room in upstairs for patient, more and more people losing insurance come to the ER because they know they cannnot be turned away and others who refuse to get their own doctor and use the ERs as a minute clinc!
wtf is wrong with that fuckin hospital al least they shut down the fuckin hospital if i was the mayor i would arrest all the emplyes of tht hospital as long in the prison motherfuckers hospitals emplyes hope god wont forgive u guys punkass mothefuckers
@abril1582 America is run on greed. They'll claim they will take better care of patients because they care, but it's really because they've been caught in the act like in this video, and don't want to be sued. Hospital employees do not care about human life as long as they can make money off sick people. That's why we don't have a cure for cancer. Why get rid of something that makes them so much money? That's how screwed we are.
that's pretty messed up that two people had to died and the lady with kids i feels so sorry for them god bless u. and i hope u are coping, but the hospital needs to pay,not just money but pay for ruining two life's.
to all the assholes in the hospital that didn't give a shit about this woman, FUCK YOU ALL TO FUCKING HELL YOU MOTHERFUCKING PRICKS!!!!!!! GO TO FUCKING HELL YOU FUCKING RETARD ASS MOTHERFUCKING NIGGER ASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!! OU GUYS ARE SO FUCKING SHITARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try going to an urgent care first. Its cheaper, faster, and doesn't overload the ER. Its crazy that an ER can be full to the brim and yet people still complain that pts aren't being seen fast enough. Its not just the people in the waiting room waiting, on bad days EMS is waiting with pts for a room as well. Point: unless you think you are going to die in two minutes, go to the urgent care.
Ok, you know what... blame the nurses and security guards all you want, but they are tired of hearing "cry wolf". Why the fudge don't the other patients sitting there shout out for someone to help????? We, as humans beings on this earth, should all be responsible for each others well being, especially when someone can't take care of themselves or can't scream out in pain, or whatever. But NO, instead they sat there and watched someone die. Hey, good for them, now they get thru faster, right?
@crazybanshee74, How the Fuck, would you like it, if your Mother, Father, Wife, Husband, or child were ignored in the Emergency Waiting room, and they died a horrible death? And when you heard it happened, the Hospital told you, we didn't wanna help your loved one, because we didn't want to ""CRY WOLF"" you fucking asshole.
most of those clowns ar ER are just sitting in their chairs complaining about this and that!! they ignore the patient and they expect that the patient will walk away. Most of the staff are a bunch of lazy asses and they are over paid. The guard is just another lazy ass that refuses to do his job! all he cares is going home to complaint about his bad day. He saw that poor woman and ignore her. another waste of money paid by the patient benefits.
my brother almost died in an ER waiting room when we had to sit there for four hours and his appendix ruptured. He had to have tube run through his nose and into his intestines to suck out toxins for three days. not cool.
well, maybe if people wouldn't act a fool and carry on like idiots in the ER waiting room, the security guard wouldn't have ignored it. I work in an ER, I've seen people flailing in pain and laying on the ground for a TOOTHACHE(bs, go to a dentist), I always check on them, but come on people, grow up, get some insurance instead of your iphones, gold teeth, tattoos, 7 kids, cadillacs with 24s and big speakers...think about it. The ER is for emergencies, not toothaches, ingrown toenails or periods
@method9er: I know what you mean, but at the LEAST the people working in the ER should go and ask if there is anything wrong. Those people clearly were not dying from toothaches. Lying on the floor for 45 minutes dead is disgusting. Someone should have checked the moment she fell. And how do you know those people had iphones and expensive things?
This has nothing to do with healthcare but with the people involved as in the labor.
There were people in those ERs that sit there and did nothing as well.. Those peopel that sit by and watched those people die are just as guilty if not MORE SO they just sit there on there azzes..
funny Brendan u claim to be a Physician and researcher? with that comment u fuckin LIAR..........u probly have done it urself let someone die stupid bitch
there are too many people in this country needing good jobs. ALL the people involved in these ER atrocities should be fired and let someone else provide HUMANE treatment of the patients
