this still doesn't work for my hedgie :( she huffs into a ball in the water too. Any other suggestions? Her nails are getting so long and I can't get to them!! I got her at a year and a half, and I don't think she was very socialized when I get her... she has gotten better but still won't let me touch her feet
@lalikaloha ....You may want to use more h2o than is pictured in the video. First they can swim and maybe a bit of swimming may tire her out a bit, also balling up in much harder if they are in deeper water. The other option which I havent tried but do know people who have is to put the hedgehog on top of a cookie cooling rack. Hold it up over your head (obviously this is a 2 person activity) and then clip the nails that are dangling through the spaces of the grates. Good luck
@PIERCESPOGS Thanks for the suggestions! She balls up in the bath and gets water up her nose so I'm worried about her doing that with more water... is that a really bad thing for them? Or will she be fine? Thanks again!
@lalikaloha ...excessive water up the nose and in the ears can definitely cause problems. I wonder if you have her swim for a while if it will tire her out enough to mellow her to the point you can clip the nails a bit easier? Sorry she is such a tough customer:(. Sometimes you have to just get what you can with clipping and try again another day
awesome. is there anything you can put in their cage to let them scratch on to keep their nails short or something? I'm so afraid I'm going to miss and hurt them.
Well... this didn't do me any good. My hedgehog would much rather drown then to cooperate with me. Everytime I got my hand near any of its legs, it would curl up in a ball.. occasionally putting head up for a breath of air.
@cheesemonkey321 that happen to me today ! i put a little corn starch on it and he stop bleeding and hes running around and around and it looks painful is she gonna be okay?
very cool thanx for posting a great vid for hedgi grooming and what kinda clippers did you us for my referance and my lil guy has a tendency to ball up when i try to clip his nails any ideas?
I'm afraid to grab my hedgehogs leg like that, I'm afraid I'm going to hurt her.

Have to say, i was very sceptical, however that was far less painful than i expected it to be! Top trick!

@hypermetalsonic mine too. hopelessness, that's what I feel. sad. I always want to cry whenever failing to trim hedge's nail.

Looks like I haven't been using enough force on my hedgehog.. his nails are getting dangerously long now.
Time for some tough love

Hehehe, yes, that was a terribly grumpy and uncooperative hedgie. :P Great vid though!

Question. I was relatively successful with the backpaws. Front paws however, lead to biting. Any ideas? I usually just try and sit her upright.
