  • Is it just me or does it seem like some of the people in the back are dissatisfied with the performance? I don't mean any of the musicians but people like the guy at the left in white at 2:31-2:42 and other parts of the video. They have the air of boredom and seem to be disappointed with the musicians. I think it's a great performance though.

  • Aw... daniel barenboim conducting.. nice! Great piano player, check out "pathetique 2nd" by him

  • 01:47 Danny De Vito ?

  • ama deus doesnt that mean loved by god?

  • Bravo.

  • prepotente il fraseggio (e la direzione)

  • I read that this serenade was played at his wedding with Constance Weber has

    a surprise gift

  • oboes are divine and heavenly

  • total good, what a great musik !!!!!

  • Barenboim (L)

  • I like this song but am I wrong for thinking that they were nnot that good in the video?

  • Xxxzixl x

  • mr. myagi there with his basoon, as steady fast as earth's best bed rock... no need to coax the soft tones to competition... a galaxy floating in the quiet of the universe looking on to stars that come and vanish... (and other consideations)

  • Bellissimo!

  • This performance is an embarrassment! What is this, a high school band? Butcher it why don't they??

  • EXCELLENT!

  • Millions of people passed by, and millions will be forgotten, but this music will last forever...

Even thought no human ears could listen to it. !!!

  • On the page it looked...nothing! The beginning simple...almost comic. Just a pulse. Bassoons, basset horns...Like a rusty squeezebox! And then! Suddenly, high above it...an oboe. A single note, hanging there, unwavering! Until, a clarinet took it over, and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey. This was a music I had never heard. Filled with such longing! Such unfulfillable longing! It seemed to me that I was hearing the Voice of God.

  • The effect of listening to this music is like no other music ever composed, it's powerful therapeutic qualities transcend my deepest inner mental state , gently taking control of all my persona, invoking a sublime inner peace and lifting my presence above life itself. Once there, I float in a soothing world of ecstasy and only return to this life when music stops.

  • @RamWhamBam I just cry.

  • @RamWhamBam You lucky person.

  • Gorgeous music & presentation.

Why, in the film, did this piece have an uptempo finish?

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1

In the film, the uptempo ending isn't part of this movement. They jumped to the end of the last movement of the work. If one doesn't know that it does sound like a very crazy way to end a beautiful slow movement.

  • @gary903 Thank you.:)

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1

    You"re welcome :)

  • WHO IS THIS!!!

  • serenade for winds very good

  • Whoever made this video, and the recording, should also be complimented on a very fine and professional job. Following the instruments, the faces of the musicians; it's really very very well done. Thank you.

  • i like this version tempo...

  • LOL emonto2 said, " or being a clarinet."

Yea the oboe starts the magnificence of this piece in my opinion but the clarinet takes it soo deep.

And NO ONE DISLIKES THIS PIECE! I just don't get it, this is like my fav...

  • Who is this, by the way?

  • Is the conductor barenboim?

  • I think directors are very strange

  • WOW!!!!

  • I just cannot imagine there are people who pressed the dislike button on this peace...They should be ashamed of themselves...

  • Doesn't get any better than this.

  • Oboe: WIN

  • A quality interpretation! Dont forget the second bassoon part. Constant moving eighth notes without nary a rest. Breath with the phrasing if anyone is paying attention and not getting too caught up on their whole note solos or being a clarinet

  • ve' che bell'inizio...

  • Absolutely stunning performance !- First oboe is fabulous! And so is the first clarinet-And bassoon marvellous too! Thank you all!

  • second bassoon.....congratulations, in this movement the hardest job ever in classical music, great job specially in 3.28!! best wishes....

  • This music is divine!!! I am an Atheist but when ever I listen to Mozart`s music I think that there MUST be a God !!!

  • @NaturalBornHedonist You're right. This music created God....to listen this Adagio...

  • @NaturalBornHedonist Then, I'm sorry to inform you that you have misconceptions about yourself

  • Ay. No me canso de Mozart. Impresionante la dirección de Barenboim.

  • Of all of the performances of the 3rd movement on YouTube, this is the poorest done by professionals. Sad.

  • Poor beginning. 3rd movement is very flowing. The musicians are stiff. Especially the 2nd Oboe. I get the feeling that they know that they are being filmed. They should stop trying to show off and play this beautiful piece.

  • Mozart, Mozart, Mozart...

  • Oboe needs to stop feeling so much. Play it as written. Poor positioning of microphones. Sound bounds around too much.

    Great!!

    Great!

Saludos cordiales.

  • I love this music. So great.

    Thank you for sharing, indeed.

  • In one word: Masterpiece

  • what movie is it played in?

  • @PopulationOverride I heard this in the Jane Campions latest movie- "Bright star". This piece is called "Human orchestra" on the soundtrack.

  • I´m crying!

  • Hearing mozart I always forget problems and diary noise, but this piece is simply amazing and beautiful. It seems to be writen by angels...

  • Us the conductor daniel barenboim?

  • @theromanpraetorian I think so

  • @theromanpraetorian yes, Daniel Barenboim.

  • THAT....that giggling dirty-minded creature crawling on the floor!!!

  • a little too slow

  • The music is great, but not the best performance. There are silly intonation issues from both the oboe and bassoon that almost make the performance annoying. But, man alive, the greatness that is Mozart survives

  • just fantastic!

  • dreadfully slow

  • yes is Daniel Barenboim... certamente il migliore...

  • Is this Barenboim as director?

  • >.. Oboe, please expression in repetition is this : ta ta TAA-DA DA DAaa da, not ta ta taDa da da daaa,... it is Mozart guys get the grip!!!!

  • I've never seen a boehm clarinet playing togehter with a oehler clarinet^^

  • In Milos Forman's "Amadeus" they butchered this 3rd movement to bring it to a quick end. They actually hired a composer for this. This is really unfortunate since it is one of Mozart's masterpiece.

  • @lucancherby

l agree that this is a masterpiece. it might also be one of my very favorites of his, but they couldn't keep the whole song in... It's A Movie. If they were to play every song on that soundtrack back-to-back, non-stop, the movie would last 2.5 hours. givin that it's already 3 hours long, that would leave only 15 for dialect and another 15 for walking around, bumping into things, eating and such, lol

  • Ha! So funny that this is the problem of note with that film!

  • Very good reply, respectful and funny. I thought Milos Foreman did an excellent job with Amadeus...

  • Well at least they used the 5th movement as the end...or the last movement, I forgot how many movements are in this particular serenade...

  • Thank God for that movie, because since there are so many compositions...this "Gran Partita" III k361(being a bit butchered here, maybe the sound pick up/mics were up too high on some instruments)---would not have enchanted me so without Salieri's character describing the instruments so poetically.

  • Ok, now that I heard and watched it and read all 38 comments...I've decided to take up wind instruments, particularly the oboe...and this video grew on me and has become "un-butchered". Although the people who played these instruments made pretty silly faces...hmmm.. : )

  • divine!

  • Man the oboe player hits that begining note perfectly

  • AHHH! dale clevenger on horn! my teacher!

  • this is my favorite movement of gran partita i like this part!!! This is very awesome!!!

  • Oh my god, this video is a rare gem. This conductor's gestures are so very touching. This piece does not always have a conductor because it is almost an ensemble piece. Yet every hand and facial motion of this conductor tells a story!

  • yes it's Daniel Barenboim the great conductor and pianist you could watch some videos of him playing beethoven sonatas it's incredible!

  • sorry, but my teenage hormones got the better of me - the second oboe is gorgeous! haha ;D

  • sry..is that the one with the fro at 1:12

  • wat? that's a clarinet....Karl-Heinz Stefens in fact...

  • may someone give me the mp3 file for this piece? please and thank you!

  • I agree..the pace on this is PERFECT. I hate when conductors rush adagio pieces.. it completely loses the feel and emotion.

  • Bravi!

  • The first clarinet. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the first clarinet player Also Play for the Berlin Philharmonic(The Best Orchestra Ever!)?He's one of the Principal players

  • Yes. But now he is retired. His name is Karl-Heinz Stefens. Im my opnion, one of the greatests clarinetists ever!!!!!

  • Ahh But I like Wenzel Fusch (I think I spelled it wrong) better than him.Have you heard Wenzel play Premiere Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra with the Berlin Philharmonic? It's amazing. He's actually my favorite clarinet play.(BTW does any of the BPO player speak any English?)

  • The oboe - The queen of all instruments!

  • All movements of the Gran Partita are beautiful.

  • "the biggining simple (...) just a pulse (...) and then suddently high above it an oboe"

one of the best parts of the movie :)

  • On en pleure...

  • @FerreiraBlitz

this was no composition by a performing monkey...THIS...this was the music I never heared...

  • @FerreiraBlitz : The movie is a classic, of course, and will remain as such ...

  • @FerreiraBlitz Are you quoting Salieri??? :))

  • Oh, this is beautiful... and to think that I once thought this boring before realizing the true beauty hidden in such profound music... OH, I LOVE THIS!!!

  • My thoughts, exactly!

  • Wow ! This is my favorit music in the movie Amadeus.

  • Simply the best my hears have ever heard. Marvelous... Mozart, may your music live for eternity.

  • absolutely brilliant

    absolutamente brillante

    5 stars

    5 estrellas

  • this is the best 'Gran Partita' I heard in youtube~~

    GRACIAS MOZART

  • This is my favourite k361 on youtube - superb playing and perfectly paced. Thanks for posting.
