  • its cpu fan needs a little bit oil , tried and %110 solved :)

  • I have the same problem.

  • unfortunalty you need to replace the fan. the bearing of the fan cpu or vga looks dead or nearly to die .

I just replaced my one ( qosmio x505 ) it was not easy only service could handled because fans are located deep in the gut of notebook. HP may have diffirent design ,you may only need to remove back cover

  • @giwrgospaokara I used WD-40, and it is still working without any noise. :)

  • shit i have thee same problem FUCK...

  • Is not only cleaning the fan, you need to lubricate it also, a couple of drops of lubricant and the will stop... it did with mine! :)

    GL

  • @Rcanton1000 wich lubricant?

  • your pc just has dust in it. open it up where your fan is, and clean it up with compressed air

  • Sometimes a fan noise like yours can indicate that your fan(s) as well as their associated intake and exhaust ports need to be cleaned with compressed air. Check-out some of the other videos on YouTube about cleaning and maintaining your laptop.

I hope this was helpful to you.

  • man your fan is dying. stop using your laptop. fix or replace or your CPU chips will fry.

  • @TheBanaphsh Hey retard, the video is almost 3 years old.

  • @Noxnaxia and you dumb fuck, still alive.

  • @TheBanaphsh Oh, I'm sorry, I never knew he would keep his laptop fan buzzing for 2/3 years.

You retard, he probably forgot to take it down.

  • @Noxnaxia like i said still breathing, what a waste!

  • @TheBanaphsh Shut up, Downie, you are incompetent.

  • my laptop makes a fan noise but not like yours because mine goes loud then silent then loud!

  • I have the HP Pavilion DV6 and having the same problems. Send me a message to rich3878@gmail.com to let me know how you fixed it.

  • Well when I blew it hard it goes on :D

  • I did shut it off, by removing keyboard and pull out the little connector coming out of the fan going in to the motherboard. I now cool with fan outside, no noice no more.

  • I have the exact same laptop and it is making that same noise as I'm typing this.

  • Thanks! The thing is that in HP DV 9000, the fan is buried so deep inside that you have to unscrew almost every component, I used thinner and some air pressure to blow out the dust but the noise won't go. I guess it would need some kind of greasing. But I prefer hearing to the jet engine than going for such experiments. I already broke a cable trying :-s

  • that sound is coming from a plastic piece that directs the air to the fan, my DV7 use to do that until i removed that plastic piece, now its cooler and quieter, thumbs up so others can see this also i major in computer engineering at University at Buffalo so if you need your laptop fixed or need tips just send me a message.

  • @CBTBGAMING also i tried cleaning out the fan by itself that doesnt work the sound is just gonna come back soon

  • Same laptop, same issue :-(

  • @seekme94 if you know how to take apart your laptop then it can be fixed just read my post on the video and give it a thumbs up

  • Acer sucks, too! Hahaha @ivantrajevgameguy

  • these tactics won't get you a blackberry..but this plan might..lol

  • if it keep doing that the fan will soon stop working mines just did

  • replace the fan or let it be replaced or go get a new one

  • i took the fan out of my laptop do it don't make the noise anymore easy fix

  • its because your bearings on the fan are gone. meaning you have to replace the fan. fan can run from $15-$45 . plus the manual labor to go get it fixed if you plan not to do it yourself. hope this helps all your questions.

  • i have the same problem! :(((

  • hp sucks

  • Same laptop same problem -_-

  • Fan rotor needs to be oiled. If you do it yourself use a drop of mineral oil not WD40 or machine oil.

  • couple choices...buy a portable and adjustable fan. its around 30$ plugs into usb

switch to Lenux and your proceses will decrease by 80%.

open your laptop and clean it manually.

download a thermostat reader for you're PC and close large unnecessary processes running in the background.

  • TIP! before you go insane. By a new fan or 2.

  • mine started doing that noise too...how did you fix yours or you already replaced the lappy by now I assume? btw is this something I should get to service, cause my warranty sticker is teared already from day 1 i got it so i guess it useless...and if i leave it like that can it harm the motherboard or somehow differently destroy my lappy?

  • its bad bearings.

  • I have cleaned my fan,but it's still making a lot of noise.....

  • mine is doing the same.. I am done with HP.. I dont understand why ttheir laptop get so hot pretty quick

  • I have the same problem, only a few days left before I get suicidal.

  • I had same prob. just follow few steps.. clean ur fan, then go to start -> Run-> system configuration->click on Startup-> uncheck the prog. u dont want, hit apply.. and restart.. keep prog. lowest in system config... it worked for me.. gd luck

  • under clock or clean it

  • i just spank it a little and it gets fixed

  • FUCK HP!!!

  • Funny how it's usually HP. X.x

I suspect my Compaq Hp's fan noise due to the AMD processer, they get hot fast (although each core is only at 2.2GHz standard). Its also my ATi radeon HD Mobility gpu that i use cuz of gaming.. Its a good laptop, but a recent Bios update boosted my hardware's proformace, and made the fan really loud. My mic got a lot of crappy background noise, i fixed it by going to the recording properities, and setting it to record from left (away from the fan). Hope it helps.

  • i have same hp dv 6000 and it making same noise if it works for more than an hour my screen freezes and i get black screen saying my video driver has stoped working and my laptop shuts off i am not able to turn it back on until two to three hours later, when i press power button to turn it on only keypad buttons flash blue color and it shut it off ,,,what is this does this mean my laptop has reached end of his life so i can buy new one,hp is bull shit i will never get another hp i junk,

  • Just open the bacl plate where the fan it and spray so compressed air. Theirs a lot of dust in the fan. Their a youtube video of someone showing you.

  • I have this same problem but my shit always shuts down anytime I'm watching videos or certain websites with alot of pop up makes it overheat then just fades to black if I don't shut the top and let it cool down shits been going on for over a year. makes so much noise its ridiculous.

  • Cooling on HP laptops really suck.

I once cleaned out the heatsink of a HP laptop, and in order to access it, I had to tear down the entire machine, even dismounting the display, unscrewing almost every screw, taking out every piece of hardware. And putting it back together was even worse.

I'll stick to my Lenovo from now on.

  • Hi Great Video, Could you tell me or anyone please, i seem to have a problem with my HP Dv6T laptop, first of all the main problem is that the fan seems to be running quite loudly but when i put my hand near the vent i can feel air coming out so i dont think its cleaning issue, #however as soon as i change power schemes from say Power Saver to HP Recommended the fan starts immideatley and keeps running and immediately as soon as i switch back it goes to normal.Any solutions appreciated.thank

  • turn over your laptop and make sure the laptop is closed at the bottom you will see the fan so you have to use a screw driver to take out the screws and take out the cover, then you will see a lot of dust so u need something small to take out the dust like a vacume that has a small tip so it can suck the air in

  • i have the same problem..

  • got the same problem

  • I had a hp... 500 bugs... 2 years old. totally melted.. MELTED..... my connectors, my screen was in pieces, it is SHIT ... now i have an Acer, much better,... cheaper, faster and COOOLL.. and noiseless.

  • You definitely need to clear out the dust in it.

  • bearing sound shot so it moves uneven

  • I have the same problem too but is it the fan? I think my fan doesn't work so I don't think the noise is coming from there? but It still make a lot of noise like the one in the video and my laptop get very hot. anyone know the problem?

and @donatospoony, have you fixed your problem?

  • I had the same, i destroyed it and bought another one and yeah it gets really hot and the sounds super high but i still like it. you should get compressed air and clean it, there's instruction with it

  • really very noisy sounds like mine too. very annoying when watching movie at silent night. sometimes louder than my speaker. needs to think ways to dismantle my laptop and oil the fan.

  • Dust

  • Take to a pc specialist and have them replace the fan that'll fix the problem

  • its dust

  • I have the same noice on dv7, its so freaking annoying, omg annoying, i havent had my laptop for a year.

  • its sorted very easily believe it or not! simply unplug youre laptop and take it outside.. then spend a good five minutes simply blowing into all the air inlets and outlets blasting out all the dust. Simple and effective. when you turn it back on it wll be purring like a kitten. All it is, is dust clogging the extractor fans, I had the same problem for 3 yrs with my laptop and didnt know it could be fixed so easily, if the noise returns after a few weeks or months, simply repeat the procedure

  • @reddotdinx that's not a good idea use a can of compressed air, the moisure from your breath can damage the components. My dv6 is doing thw same bloody thing! I'm fairly certain it's my video card fan, still under warranty though! can't be without it for more than a day though!

  • Take it to the Tech Guys.

  • OMG MINE DOES THAT TOO

  • O my god i have the same laptop! Same thing is happening to me!! WHAT SHOULD I DO!!

  • Comment removed

  • @battleslay54 your comp is really hot, and is gathering dust within your fans.

  • Maybe there is a demon in your laptop?

  • you need to clean your fan, go to office max and buy some canned air

  • I had to remove dust but without success. I put gig-a-loo in the compartment where the propeller turns and it does not make any more noise.

  • Sorry i dont know what you should do but i do know mine as well sucks but mines is a dv6000

  • I have the same problem and I found out why it does that noise . At first I thought the fan was just oscillating , but then i realized it was not cooling as good as it was before even though it sounded like it was a going at full speed. The reason is that the fan is actually loose. So the axis is turning but the fan it self is loose and not rotating at the same speed. My advice is that if this happens to you just get a new fan and replace it

  • had this diesel sound like 2 years ago. still had a warranty, but they would take it for 3-4 weeks, so i didn't do it. When i came home it dropped out from my bag and i'v never heard this sound again))) still hp makes nice laptops, using it for 4 years now and the only problem is battery - 100% shit from the beginning, and it's overheating all the time:))

  • if you need your warranty i suggest not touching it and giving to futureshop or best buy or someone and telling them about this...

if your warranty is already void then make sure you know what your doing and open it up... when you get to the fan use compresed air to clean it up... dont forget how to put it back together... then check it out...

  • a bearing has gone bad

  • @redspicer Wrong. It's a brush-less motor - no bearings. If it's like mine was, the fan shaft lubricant has dried up, or become sticky due to cigarette smoke contamination. Unfortunately, since it's an HP, you'll have to take the whole thing apart to get to the heat-sink and fan on the mother board. Open the fan casing, clean out all the dust, and then see if the fan spins freely when you blast it with air. If not, then pull fan blade off, clean the shaft, then lubricate with a light grease.

  • @jhschmidMD4 I dont even have mine any more i traded it for a gateway thats like 5 time better then the hp

  • @jhschmidMD4 Computer fans use brushless motors, correct. But they have bearings. All of them. Sleeve, ball, magnetic, and sealed sleeve (hydraulic, fluid-dynamic, blah blah).

A laptop maker has few OEMs to choose from with regards to fans.

Delta, AVC and SUNON are the top three makers of laptop fans.

Delta fans are always ball bearing fans. AVC offer a mix of ball and hydraulic bearing fans, and SUNON offers either ball bearing or magnetic levitation bearing units.

  • Don't worry about these jerks writing crappy comments. I see the vid is quite old, so if it's still the case, take it to a professional computer store and get your fan cleaned. DO NOT do it yourself. I tried to do mine, and almost damaged it. Thanks to Geek Squad at Best Buy. But you should be fairly OK with any computer repair shop.

    Lemme know of your feedback.

  • clean it.

  • yea iv had that problem for a while and iv yet to get it in to fix it also my screen whites out, but i always thought it was unbalanced

  • Ok here it goes friend,i have been having the sam problem for some time now makes it sould like a fishing boat lol, well i have tried everything ,vaccum suck for the dust blow air into the fan disassembled the computer and fan used contact cleaner and reassembled.... none works.i am looking to by a new fan now to see what the outcome will be ,hope it works out,if it did for you then let me know please

  • ball bearing loose most likely - must be fixed or replaced - also compressed air clean the vents with short bursts of air on an angle - also look if resource heavy apps are running

  • go on yhe hp page and do a firmware update for the fan there are other updates there too

  • Mine started to sound like that when it was new, then they changed the fan and it's been working perfectly for over a year now.

  • Well i am thinking that you just have a bunch of dust or something built up in your fan, i think you should check out some Youtube.com videos and see how TOOO Clean your fan, but if you think you are not capable of doing this... You could bring it into a computer repair shop...

  • Clean it with compressed air mate :D

  • Mine is doing it. A hard whack usually solves it temporarily but it's really irritating. I'm gonna have to do something about it.

  • loll my lap top is doing more noise so i can;t hear the noise of your lap top :D

  • @ivantrajcevgameguy good one! my laptop is making the same noise, MSI EX600, I wil buy spray....

  • @ivantrajcevgameguy same 4 me

  • @ivantrajcevgameguy

    i got the same problem..

  • @ivantrajcevgameguy i had the same noise; the problem was the fan ... i replaced it and the noise was gone

  • Today my computer started booting up and the fan would constantly stay on then the computer would shut off. I checked my battery though and it was fine. It's really weird I just hear the loud fan on constantly then it turns black and shuts off.

  • my cpu meter is always at 100% and it laggs alot is because it has dust in the fan?

  • Have you tried opening it up and cleaning the fan? It'll make that noise if there's too much dust trapped inside. How long has this been happening?

  • Has this been happening ever since you purchase it, or did it start overtime?

If it started from day one, your laptop might be defective. In case you are under warranty, I recommend you ask for a replacement/fix.

The other way around, it's related to your computer's CPU, or GPU reaching very high temperatures. At this time, your fans start struggling to cool them down, this may be causing that noise.

The overheating is caused by dust. Unscrew your laptop, and clean the fans.

  • I have the same problem with my laptop. it's an HP Pavillion DV4-2016la. I don't know how to take my laptop aprt.-_-

  • i have the same problem it happend suddenly

and it annoyes plz help i have compaq

  • I have the exact same model with the exact same problem...

What you need to do is to take the laptop apart and remove all the duct around your fan and heatsink. I just did it a couple of hours ago and it works perfectly so far.

  • Check out vids from my channel!!<<<<<<<

you can either have it cleaned or replace fan component

  • My laptop has been doing this since 09' I really don't know what to do. I have been insane since it started doing that. Dx

  • in mine it did the same thing what i did shouldnt have been done but it fixed the noise i stuck a tip of a safety pin in the slot and hit the fan as it was spinning and it completly stopped and the fan still works no noise at all

  • my old computer started doing this and i took out the vent put a little bit of mechanic oil in it and now it works fine

  • Mine is doing that in this very second.

  • Mine's doing that. Only a few more days 'til I go completely insane.

  • I Have had my HP Pavilion DV6907ea laptop which is almost identical to yours ,and it sounds like it is about to take off most of the time ,and begins to heat up to real high temperatures so hot i cannot even keep it on my legs ,the trackpad and two buttons also heat up i have contemplated taking it apart and cleaning it out but i cant find any guides on this ,

  • @TheeMcGuinnesss From what I am hearing, to get to the fan you have to take the ENTIRE laptop apart. There is a comical u-tube video of a guy who had all the parts laid out in sequence on a 10 foot table.(Around the table) At the end he sarcastically comments that he feels he won't get it back together.

  • mine is doing that right now

  • I have a different problem. My fan is too slow. I tried tweaking it with software, but it's not compatible with the software. Leaves me with slow fan and overheating CPU/GPU. Which is an annoyance when editing/rendering HD video.

  • Clean the fan or change the fan

  • same thing happened to me too, now i have to use earphones every time i use my hp dv 9000. either that or earplugs (no joke). it sucks

  • thats happening to me right now

  • Dude the same thing happens to me... I have an HP too!! it sucks!!

  • couldnt hear the noise, because my shitty fucking hp laptop has the exactly motherfucking same problem. FML

  • Same issue with mine, ffffuuuuuu

  • HP blow's

  • HP its a piece of shit, I have the same fuc... problem!!

  • Mine does that, just that it does it in like slow way, the ''scrathing sound'' is way slower.

  • The fan is fucktup and youre lap is overheatting try cleaning it first there is a lot of tutorials to dissasamble and hp laptop and if that sdoesnt work buy a new vent XD

  • Probably one of the fan's little blade is broken or bent .you should get a new fan because you will have problems with your hardware

  • That laptop is saying : Turn me off!

  • I had a very similar problem in my Acer laptop for a while but it was still under warrenty so I made use of that and they replaced the entire fan.

  • OK, I had the same problem on my PC which I've now fixed. The issue was that the metal shielding that covers the fan was rubbing against the fan. The metal is very thin and easily bent and I must have accidently pushed it in when I opened up the laptop previously to cure the common overheating problem (I replaced heatsink compound with copper shims) . The only way to fix it is to completely dismantle the laptop and check for the metal shield or (something) else rubbing the fan blade.

  • hey bought a new dv6 myself, had it 3 days and took it back for the same problem, they kept it for a week and said theres nothing wrong with it so used it as best i could for another week still fan noise,so took it back again said money back please!!!for a month got phone calls to say they could not hear a problem !!WTF HP SUX never again will I buy !!

  • Hey my sister had that laptop... Its mother board got shot

  • your fan melted and it's axis got distorted , thus not spinning int the proper axis , the fan is brushing against the protection plastic , and making that caracteristic noise.

You should or change laptop , or change the fan (which will melt again in less than 6 months).

  • O god someone plz help us with this problem!! I bang up my labtop so much do to this annoying noise the part to open the labtop with is busted, someone give us an answer to fix out labtops fan!!!!

  • Well, the problem with this laptop is that it over heats other then that its perfectly fine. All problems that have come up on the internet about this laptop is due to overheating. bits of plastic start to melt inside and my fan use to make a sound like that, i opend it up and the fan was actualy melting on the inside. this laptop is not goot. i think it should of been recalled due o overheating and a tun of other bullshit probllems

  • i have the same computer and its making the same nosie ugh

  • Hp computers are oiles of shit buy a mac i have gone through 4 hp laptops in a year.

  • i have the same laptop and its much louder! and it keeps over heating and switching off! i want my money back lol

  • try peeling off the sticker on the fan an add two drops of sewing machine oil

  • i have a different laptop, my laptop started making weird noises occasionally. Until tonight my sister fucking dropped it and it started to make loud noise!

i've ordered a air can spray, i hope the can will sort out the damn problem.

cuz it's only warranty just farking finished feb 2010

  • send it back to hp.

watch my hp fan noise and you will see why you should

  • my hp dv7 is doing the same thing? help!!!

  • My HP Pavilion Entertainment PC ( DV9035NR ) makes a very similar sound. It's only 1 year old. There's no visible dust and I use compressed air to clean it often. The fan is just shot. I've heard it's a nightmare to replace it. There's little to no information on how to do this on the web, sad to say.

  • I HAVE THE SAME SHT!:S

I just had it cleaned and 2 days after I got it back, it started to do that sound.. and it still does:S

  • Did you get it fixed? Mine is doing the same thing. It is the fan and I've sucked out all the dust with a shop vac but still does the same thing after it has been on for a few min. I bet the heatsink is expanding and causing something to rub against the fan. I'm told I'd have to replace the fan and heatsink (~$200-$300). The part can be picked up on ebay for about $20, but I'm not sure I want to open up my laptop.

  • my laptop started to do it now too but i just lift it up a little bit and smash it a little down and then it stops :)

  • my laptop started to do it now too but i just lift it up a little bit and smash it a little down and then it stops :)

  • this is the shittest laptop ever , dont buy it , it overheats and the graphivs card gets effed up easily

  • Hi,

Its propertly the fan which is bad and you will have to replace it with a new fan, but I dont know what i would cost.

  • open the laptop and clean out the dust in the laptop thats what makes it overheat! or buy a can of air to blow the dust out i experienced the same problem,pc technician for over 11 years!

  • I have a Pavilion and it does the exact same thing! Rrr and the worst part is my laptop is fairly new

  • open the fan and remove the excess fuzz or buy a new fan

  • > mine is doing EXACTLY the same thing - has been for a while. At first I thought it was HD - now I've determined it's the fan and have been told can find (cheaply) and replace yourself online which I'm about to scout out this week. I will post links if I find them for sourcing/fixing. Good luck!

  • Dude, you have to change the fan. I have the same problem but in dv2000. I cleaned fan from dust however this f**** annoying sound come from worn out fan. So buy brand new, install and laptop should work silence.

  • It might be dust in the fan.

  • Maybe your laptop's fan might coverd in dust.

  • Unfortunately, the only fix for this issue is to replace the fan altogether. I'm about to replace the noisy fan in my own 07 dv6000. Luckily, the fans are only $15-25 on average (online), and you can easily find precise instructions online on disassembling HP laptops. If yours is still under warranty, disassembling the computer voids it, but HP has denied fixing the fans even on new models, and as long as one's very careful, it's something you can fix on your own.

  • samething we have hp pavilion dv 9000 it's happen to my husband computer also, right now i try to do is clean i buy this dust remover in walmart so far im not hearing the noise at all so try to clean it..its work's...

  • i have a really bad laptop but i do not have that fan noise my laptop is a emachines D620 i like need a new desktop my laptop works fine but i doues overheat from time to time

what you should do is clean your laptop if clean doues not work get new fan or new laptop for desktop

  • clean it, it work on my pavilion dv6

  • i have a dv4 and the just when youd think the overheating problem was more than enough to make things nasty it sounds like a goddamn airplane, im a student i cant even pull it out in the library. why do HP laptops deteriorate to suck pathetic levels?

  • Hi guys,

    even after cleaning the fan

    my laptop makes noise ...

    i would appreciate suggeststions

    thanks

  • Mine did the same thing!! lol i had to get it repaired by HP Best2Serve. The customer support is awful but in the end after fighting a month with them, I got it fixed also with the hinge problem. The hinge inside breaks and the bezel starts to crack around the hinge and you see the inside. After sending HP picture evidence they fixed it and my heatsink & fan replacement. Good luck

  • i habve the same laptop and it does that

  • I have the same problem. I'm going to try the solution with the compressed air. Thanks for the tips.

  • clean it maybe it's because of th dust

  • need a new fan yours ran out-off lub

  • thats what my dell does

  • Mine had the same issue, although it's an Acer but the noise was extremely high, so I got one of those cans of compressed air and that worked perfectly, it was just built up dust.... If the problem doesn't go away chances are one of the bearings is loose in which case you need to replace the fan.

    Hope it helps

  • I have the same laptop & since yesterday I was getting the same fan noise. I tried vacuuming from the outside as I do every few months but that didnt work. So I searched for a service manual online & found it on google. I opened it up. I had to remove everything including the screen and motherboard to reach the fan. I opened the fan case & there was a lil bit dirt. Not much but I vacuumed it and brushed the fan blades which had dirt stuck in them. After careful assembly noise is gone.

  • just clean it up and if it still makes the sound change the fan thats the only thing that makes noise in computers.

  • I made a discovery! I used one of those spray cans of compressed air and blew out the air vents. My computer is about 3 years old and has been sitting in the main floor of my house , where I have been doing a lot of renovations. Even thinking that I was carefull about making dust- You should have seen all the dust that came out of the sucker! I,m thinking of bringing it in to simply be vacuumed out. My fan is not perfect but is much better. There is a u-tube video showing how to blow it out.

  • well i wrote you last week i just got mine back from HP very surprised how quickly they got it done and returned to me. they replaced the fan but i have no idea how much it would have cost me .but its good to know about blowing it out with compressed air i probably do that every month.

  • Thanks for your response, when you say you sent it back to HP, did you go to a retailer first, or is there HP facilities in major cities?

  • donatospoony , hi , yes i handed it in to where i bought it (Futureshop) and got it back fairly quick thier no HP repair center near me im just out side of Vancouver,BC and they sent it to torronto for repair(seams silly to me but i guess theres a reason for it. i sent it in tursday night got it back following wendsday.your computer seams to have same sound mine did which turned out to be the heatsink fan on processor.

  • @donatospoony I put up a video for lubricating a laptop fan, if it happens to be electromagnetic. Sometimes pulling the fan out, opening it up, and cleaning it thoroughly can be a good idea, but my experience with HP's is that this is much harder than it should be. I hope it stays quiet for you; noisy fans are such a pain!

  • Mine started doing this also....

  • Thanks., I live in Toronto and I'll

    check it out.

  • @paliut1992 mine too......
