@eriobotrya Note that Yepes is using a 12 string guitar giving more brilliance, perhaps called harshness. ie: less mellow. These extra strings are tuned up an octave giving this extra "brilliance" samfifield81
She's got the smoothest tremolo I've heard any of the guitarists play, whether played fast or slow. When many of the professional guitar do tremolo, I can hear each "ami" distinctly, like a horse gallop. With Xuefei, you can't tell.
yes indeed. To accomplish this she ought to have three things: practice, her passion in tremolo particular, and of course the best guitar. She is one of the best I ever listened to with this piece. Wonderful!
I don't think it is too slow. She is just imposing her expression on the piece. Playing in perfect synch with a metronome is not everybody's idea of capability. Some male performers play too fast and harmonies and beauty are lost in the "machine gun" flavor they exude. Not so here. Segovia altered tempo to suit his moods.
I was surprised to see me off to the right in the folding chairs, but was more surprised when I attended this concert and found out how awesome this young lady is. I've played the CD I bought at this show many times. I have about 300 classical guitar CDs and her Romance de Amor ranks right up there with the best. She is a wonderful performer and a great classical guitar player.
Of the dozen guitar Recuerdos on You Tube, she is superb. Tops in dynamics, expression, and massaged tempo. Yang has played Recuerdos on 3 sessions on You Tube at abut 2 or 3 year intervals. Each time you wonder how it could improve further.
@samfifield81 Only a dozen on YT? Really? I think you'll find there's a lot more than that. Xufei's is one of the better versions. The best tremolo technique is probably that of Narcisso Yepes, but I find his version lacks emotional depth, is slightly rushed, and a bit harsh because he plays most of it too close to the bridge.
wonderful..........

It is important to play the chords (thumb notes) as steady as possible. This is what makes the piece flow. Please see my video for example.
Fei is a wonderful guitarist and in a few years may be the best.

My dream threesome is Xuefei Yang and Kaori Muraji...they needn't bother to bring their guitars, I can assure you ;-)

@Rentaghost76 I'd ad Filomena Moretti and Ana Vidovic to the guest list, and invite a couple of friends. Now _that's_ a party! ;->

@Upub2 I agree. Narciso Ypes, particularly, plays it way too fast, to the point that he loses a lot of the expression in the piece.

One of the best of Tarrega's piece. I just love it. Yeah. It is a bit too slow in some parts. She is really very capable.

Dangerously close to being played too slow in some parts. Ive heard her play it better elsewhere.

I don't remember how many time I've viewed this wonderful performance, everytime I discover something new and meaningful.

This girl's style is more suitable for this Spanish instrument and music, as compared to Muraji, a lovely Janpanese girl.
