  • you can tell how much young michael jackson looked up to his man throught his performneces

  • @sportsfan9217 He loved James Brown with an Obsession and Passion. So much so that he wanted a Pair of Patent Leather Shoes to wear but they didn't make them in his size as a Little Boy. Yet as everyone knows that Michael sang "I Got The Feeling" when he and his Brothers audtioned for Motown in 1968.

  • Saw James 3 times-------baddest mutha off all time!

  • Comment removed

  • bad mutha!

  • james brown is so fckin awesome

  • James Brown...that says it all...weren't nobody else like him...won't be...The master and his moves...this is just a glimpse.

  • Is that Mr. Stubblefield?

  • yes, james brown said Mj has been blackened..people want to get rid of him because they fear of his superior talents

  • This song always pumps me up!

  • dam this songs groove is tight!

  • Does James Brown write the instrumentals behind him? or is there a producer behind him like MJ and quincey jones. Cus some james brown songs are like this where all he he does is jam and say a couple different phrases. I love it, this is my jam, but unless james brown actually wrote the parts behind the vocals Im not too impressed. forgive me if Im wrong I dont know much about james brown. I should lol but I dont

  • @RAAB0601 James Brown did (wrote, produced, etc.) ALL of his own stuff---he was dicades ahead of his time. That is why he is the Godfather of Soul!!

  • @ricnros ha that would make sense. thanks for the response. Thanks crazy I cant think of anyone who wrote AND produced there stuff at that time. crazy

  • @RAAB0601 He did a little bit of both but if his Musicians weren't on time with the Beat, he'd fine them and Joe Jackson would do the same thing with his boys when they messed up during a rehearsal. I heard that Michael Jackson owns his Music Catalogue which wouldn't surprise me since he was a die hard James Brown Fan and also remember he did sing "I Got The Feeling" when they auditioned for Motown in 1968.

  • @laminage

I know mj owned alot of peoples music but I can't imagine he owened jb's.Partly because jb was in control of everything he did and would never part with HIS music. And second I don't think mj would wana take it off him outta respect.

  • @xplaybwoix I'm just going by what I read. However, remember James Brown like Jackie Wilson and even Ronald Isley represent The Old School, in the sense that they didn't always stay on top of Business when it came to Management. They were too trusting and paid the price. Ronald Isley did time in Prison for Non Payment Of Income Tax while James Brown's Estate was in arrears and Jackie Wilson spent the rest of his life as a Vegetable due to a Brain Hemmoraghe that left him a Vegetable.

  • Peace,God-Father Of Soul,His Spirit Will Live On Forever!!!!

  • worlds baddest drummer

  • I got the Feeling

  • James brown knows how to do IT and he KNOWS how to do it.

  • Just beautiful.

  • 1:06

  • Youtube should disable the "Thumbs Down" button on this video of pure awesomeness!

  • Michael Jackson wouldn't have been THE Michael Jackson without this man or this song since Michael and the Jackson 5 sang this song for their Motown audition. My respect is very high for this man. R.I.P. James Brown and R.I.P. Michael Jackson. You will both be forever in our hearts

  • James Brown's legs are awesome :)

  • Do anyone kno what the HELL this dude was sayn

  • 3 people don't have the feeling

  • perfect song perfect music of any genre.

  • His smile gives it away. ;) But he def was into it.

  • Right at the 00:30 mark is where the magic begins. His footwork is AMAZING. Hot damn, there will never be another brother like James Brown. NEVER.

  • i love James Brown and he can dance his ass off! where would we be if there never was James Brown? what kind of , gulp, music will we have? would there have been M.J?

  • Mr.Brown's brilliant move at 35 seconds had the audience in such shock that it took them at least 10 seconds to applaud it.

  • I put it to you that this is the first JB tune that had that signature "thing" whatever that isLOL

  • Have a look at the drummer too

  • awesum video

  • @DRUMTOY2002

    Her name is Ann Norman.

  • You will never see this played at the Republican National convention, that's for sure.

  • despite his problems later in his career he always was amazing to watch

  • some thing about J.B...he`s music...just there is no match for him and he`s music

  • James Brown was cool Man

  • Pure Talent!!!!!!!

  • that woman in the back getting it...man

  • @Haiticheri90 lol she was movin huh

  • I understand why Michael Jackson would idolize James Brown so much that he asked his mother to wake him if ever JB was to be performing live while lil'Mike was asleep. You just couldn't take a chance of missing anything back in those days. Today, we can record, search everything on youtube and play it over and over. How lucky are we?

  • JAMES BROWN - MEGA-STAR. CREATOR OF "HIT-ME" THIS BROTHER WAS

SOUTHERN GOSPEL MIXED WITH SHOWMANSHIP, IMPROV AND THE BLUES. HIS VAMPS WERE SO COLD THEY CROSSED OVER TO MAINSTREAM POP AND ROCK CHANNELS IN A POST ELVIS ERA WHEN RADIO SEGREGATED MUSIC PROGRAMMING. But the funk is its own reward.

    As they say, cream rises.....

  • baby baby baby.....baby baby baby

  • he is the best

  • lol i was looking at michael jackson doing i got the feeling..

i got really curious about how the song is done by JB..

amazing...michael was really studying JB when he was young

  • James brown rocks

  • Hold on in the tags it says randb this is not randb this is funk/soul

  • lil michael next to james brown was just fireworks!!

  • whos da drums?

  • we truly lost a great talent!!! AMAZING

  • Wow. Hard song to emulate. Good job little Michael!

  • on this he did the spin thats who michael jackson did the spin.

  • one of my all time favorite JB funk-nuggets

    thx for posting!

I give it 5 pies! .....OOOOO baby baby baby

  • too funny that the crowd has to be prompted 2x in this song to clap. i saw this cat 3x live, and the crowd went wild as soon as he strutted onto stage. he was definitely Mr. Dynamite!!!!

  • gotta defend bass0111

    a little

these guys are right, JB is the legend, the master, he knows the music, he invented the sound...all true...

    BUT

also true that fining your musicians for being a few minutes late (which he did do) is an asshole move

he can be a legend and also be an asshole, the two are not mutually exclusive

  • i see uve done s1 maths lol

  • Thank you -- you nailed my point exactly, a nuance obviously too sophisticated for the illiterate morons who attacked me.

  • Fining your guys for being late is not being an ass, it is being a pro. If you have a nine piece band and the drummer is 10 minutes late, the other eight guys are not going to stand there for free. The late guy is going to pay them. Everyone knows that stuff happens (flat tire, bad traffic, late babysitter) but just man-up and take your medicine.

  • James could also fine his band for missing notes in a performance...

  • he gave it back to them though. He used the money for parties at Christmas time.

  • this goes out to bass0111, I'm goning to argue at all, but 4 words for u. JAMES BROWN KICKS ASS! So call him an asshole, but he is the godfather of soul. And watching him (and Michael Jackson) makes me wanna jump back and kiss myself! HAH!

  • U see why he calls himself bass 0111? I bet he's some bass player that can't play worth of shit! So he comes to this page 2 dis a Legend Boo hoo ..Why is it we never heard of your ass around the world?Because yur an Asshole Bass player who can't play bass sooo u just a Nobody!!

  • this goes to the commenter Bass0111..U so stupid for even makin that statement about a Legend!James Brown came up with that sound fool...and the showmanship..But of course what would u know about A Black legend...Not shit cause u aint shit!! James did his thang in midst of a fuckin Racist ass world And still got over,,,Soo only asshole is U!!

  • Illiterate? There's help! Write for details ...

  • jb the master, mj is a jb disciple,, look at This Is IT. the hand ques gestures signal, all jb he studies the master and had the motown, quincy mafiaso, ill take care of it influence, mj gets his props but jb man oh man

  • That is SOOOOO BAAAD ASSSS!

  • Can any one name an artist that sang, moved or even had halfe the energy that the GODFATHER of SOUL had...he was the total package...RIP...

  • MJ as a kid in a way he sang this song to get in to motown

  • All right! xD

  • datt boy got summoves dnt he? rip mah mann

  • People are so stupid. Ummm.....MJ was, Oh---A CHILD doing the MASTER's moves (James and Jackie Wilson). MJ performed w/them at the Apollo. But, LIKE JAMES SAID, MJ came-up w/ his own steps. He ALWAYS paid homage to the masters/legends (including Sammy) and THEY adored HIM. Most of the LEGENDS and geniuses we can name ADORED MJ. He was NOT Justin Timberlake. MJ is FROM the heritage, he is FROM the culture. He is one of the last of the greats. Geniuses recognize other geniuses.

  • thank you.

  • Nicely put. Thank you.

  • @2conscious Exactly right

  • @2conscious

hahaha i love it when fellow music enthusiasts set the fucking record straight for all the dumb asses out there

im always correcting people on the history of the Beatles because everyones got their own bullshit version of history

  • @2conscious wow what an inspirational comment thumbs up you are 2concious lol

  • and with sammy you mean Sam Cooke?

  • @Nikoz7Makaveli Sammy Davis, Jr. Mentored MJ when MJ was a kid. All the greats were in awe of MJ because they knew he had a light. Only few people have this. It's also interesting to watch Gregory Peck---a few years before his death----going to Neverland, playing on the Merry-go-round. Legends attract other legends. Simple.

  • oke thank you!

  • Woo!

    Work it James! xD

  • The King always paid homage to the master James Brown. The difference between them is MJ was fortunate to start young and have James to study. Michael formed his own style as JB did. But he ALWAYs paid his respects to JB. There is enough love for them both, but Michael will always own my heart. xox

  • God damn! That foot work is amazing!

  • It doesnt matter if michael got most of his moves from James Brown. We learn from others and we add our own value to it. That's how humans work. Also for michael being able to imitate that and move just like james brown is amazing enough because what 6 year old would be able to move like that at a young age onless its been thought to them.

  • All those who idolizes Michael Jackson should pay homage to the master, James Brown,

  • i here you still

  • Mj definitly got a lot of his moves from James Brown, but they're both ledgends that's for sure!

  • i got the feeling too after watching this lol JB's foot work is crazy! one of my faves!

  • michael did it just like him. . .only slightly better.

  • No Jackie Wilson or James Brown! NO Michael Jackson!

  • duh.

  • I have to disagree. Like I was telling a previous commenter, JB was more athletic and built than MJ therefore he was able to be more explosive and acrobatic with his dance. Thats my opinion. You gotta remember JB was going to be a boxer, hes quick on his feet and explosive like boxers are supposed to be. MJs idea of a 'dancers body' is flawed imo because when you get that skinny thers hardly any muscle left. Dont get me wrong tho MJ is minblasting! hes on JBs level but not better imo

  • we can agree 2 disagree.

  • James Brown is the originator of this song. With all due respect, Michael Jackson is the imitator. 'Nuff said!

  • people here are too old accept new comes.

usher and CB and Ne-yo, if you want to add, is our generation that inherit JB, and MJs style. i hope they keep staying where they are and become legends like those two...

  • Thats not true. I am 18yrs old and I have seen them perform and heard their material and it just doesnt come close to MJ and JB level. Especially JB, I mean he sounded just as good live as he did in studio because his band was so tight.

  • Ne-yo is gay so cross him out.

  • If anyone ever watch Ne-yo perfom you can see that he is inspired by this legend

from the mic moves to the dance moves

  • i personally think michael was skinny all his life

  • Well Its a whole different thing... Jimi Hendrix played guitar for this guy... It's not generic synthesized with an occasional EVH tap on guitar song its funky blues at its best. JB took what the bluesmen opened up for him and turned it into a show...(But I did have 1 white glove in the 80's :)

  • james brown micheal jackson.......top 2 men I'd add STEVIE WONDER AS WELL. usher/justin cant test those 3.

  • Yea I would say James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr and MJ were the best... They could dance and sing... Unlike anyone else

  • him and michael jackson are the best.

  • 0:21 until 0:40 So sweet Babe baby yeah !!!

  • nice moves

  • James Brown is a legend.

  • What can you say about JB.....he was just in a class all by himself and he influenced both Micheal Jackson and Prince among many others.

  • Little Richard was the TRUE King of Rock and Roll baby. The Beatles idolized him so much that Brian Epstein (Beatle's Manager) offered Little Richard a 50% share in the group. But Richard did'nt think they were all that good. Elvis just did a good job of imitating the sounds of blues, gospel, and R&B masters that came before him...he said this many times himself.

  • Something now that I recently noticed. The reason that James Brown and Michael Jackson were amazing dancers and able to move so well was because they were really slim and had dancers bodies. No wonder when every Usher and Chris Brown tries to imitate those guys moves they look like to lump of fat clay. They need to lose weight so they can move better like MJ and JB.

  • I have to disagree. JB wasnt all that skinny, he was "lean". MJ was like james during the Off the Wall era (which is in my opinion his greatest era) but got way too skinny during the Bad era trying to achieve this so-called "dancers body". thats when he started doing the crotch grabbing etc. JB was always natural as well as acrobatic with his dances even until his 50s because he kept himself sturdy and fit. CB and Usher are "lean" like james but i guess they just dont got as much soul and rythm

  • JB is pretty skinny. He's a small guy in stature and weight. I do agree MJ's best work was during Off the Wall and Thriller. He did get too skinny during the Bad Era and History Era and before his death. But even during Thriller and Dangerous he was pretty thin and he stayed that way in order to dance better. CB and Usher are not lean. They are muscular and you can tell by the way they dance.

  • Thats true JB was actually quite skinny during the 60s (but no where near as skinny as MJ from thriller on). But if you look at James in the early 70s (eg Olympia 71) and in Zaire 74 he gained some weight and he still destroys the stage with his dancing. MJ still had some weight on him during Off the Wall and his dancing was much more natural then. When he was very skinny during Bad/Dangerous he started doing those forced hip thrusts and excessive crotch grabbing. Point is that MJs idea of a

  • "dancers body" is not necessarily true. You gotta have some muscle on your build like James did. James was able to be so acrobatic and explosive because of his athleticism which is the result of his build. You gotta remember that James was going to be a boxer.

  • o bull elvis was great but mike did waaaayyyy more but both were originals in different genres

  • elvis was none in the united states mj was known for the world take it how u wanna take it man

  • I can imagine James and Michael rockin' to this tune together up in Heaven ;')

  • He's trying so hard to dance like Michael Jackson but it looks like he's having a seizure. Nobody can dance like MJ.

  • true, but michael had a lot of influence from james brown. they both had their original styles. besides... james brown was feeling the music with a lot of raw energy. mf and jb are both great artists and performers, can't deny that

  • i mean mj not mf... sorry haha... typos
