  • 10 bucks that the commentators only said this because he's Russian

  • did he win gold for this?

  • @rockLx08 of course

  • Программа замечательная, но он действительно здесь выглядит немножко усталым, даже замученным, видимо подготовки выжали из него все силы. Все равно он великолепен

  • The commentators are idiots!!!

  • Best school figure skating!!!

  • Plushenko's style of skating makes an argument for four different events in singles skating, each with the presentation of medals. Plushenko, clearly one of the greatest jumpers of all, wins for technical merit. The free skate should emphasize artistry & a Johnny Weir type would win. Then bring back the compulsory figures (stroking has suffered since their demise) & hand out medals for that. Finally, an all around competition like in gymnastics. Could see Patrick Chan winning that one. Other th

  • @pellebravesskylar "At the age of 16 Plush was the youngest skater to ever receive a perfect score of 6.0. He received a total of 75 6.0s before the new judging system was introduced"

    WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Chan is a "plastic" skater, hasn't emotion, passion.

  • the guy can jump, and sorry to the plushenko fans, but he's straight up boring. it's all jumps and nothing else. no passion, no love. he doesn't even seem like he's enjoying it.

  • @macerface Oh really? How many Plushenko's performances have you seen?

    /watch?v=7qIovfoDkpE&feature=related

    /watch?v=QAMATAtaVXc&feature=related

    /watch?v=IRrJirWbshc

He is full of passion and power!!!

    /watch?v=7aGZXEs4dIE&feature=related

  • @iloveplushenko i'm only talking about this performance. not his others, which i've seen many of.

  • @macerface Ridiculous, Torino went crazy for Plushenko. Listen to the Eurosport commentators!

    /watch?v=Ajp5xglwb0k&feature=related

    but this is my favorite:

  • @macerface , even american commentator says he can never get off his eyes out of him, are you blind?

  • @meche5850 sorry, just my opinion. they also say, jump, arm movement, jump, arm movement. i've seen many of his programs and a lot of them are skated with passion, i just don't see it in this one.

  • simply amazing <3

  • I hate these commentators, may it be summer or winter game. They can't stop bad mouthing about any other non-american athletes. How annoying can they be!!! Talking rubbish and feeling good about themselves. SHUT THE F. UP, NBC! If you don't know how to appreciate plushenko's performance, keep your mouth shut.

  • @oohighness it's constructive criticism, not bashing. just because they may criticize his performance doesn't mean they hate plushenko.

  • It's a shame someone said Takahashi has a better footwork than Plushenko's. When I first watched Takahashi I feel like I'm watching a young Plushenko.

  • first they say he has passionate exuberance, then they say he shows no emotion...it can't be both?!

  • トリノのプルシェンコはジャンプからステップから一人異次元だったなぁ。

  • Oh shut up you silly commentators, nobody wants to hear you jabbering throughout this! Plushenko is just a genius and we watch it for him not to hear your silly little comments!

  • @NaturalSpirit7 of course, yes.

    /watch?v=SEJXkfMYTX4&feature=related

  • Pieces of shit, stupid, for ever and always stupid, stupid, never anything than average Americans, they just can't take him, can they? Man, they wish they had something close to him but they don't, they never have and they never will because their culture breeds noting but MEDIOCRITY. Someone should just put and end to them. For ever.

  • @Ki104ytr Whoa man, calm down! This is not a war!

  • It is amusing to see how the comments were truly contrast with the scream he received from audience!

  • 2:55 start the best footwork sequence of all time!

  • @victorshiramizu Ok, have you ever actually watched figure skating? I mean, Yagudin's footwork, or Wylie's, or Lambiel's, Buttle's, Takahashi's? I think I've pretty covered all the continents, so you can not accuse me of being american (plus, I am not: I'm italian), but you seem not knowing what you are talking about. Plushenko = best footwork? Amazing jumper, great biellman, but he doesn't even know what footwork is...

  • @Porporinablu Well, it´s my opinion. He interprete the music like anybody! You wanting or not, Plushenko is a myth in the figure skating. And one more time: THIS IS A BEST FOOTWORK THAT I SAW!

  • @victorshiramizu I agree with you !

  • His air positions are GORGEOUS!

  • PLUSHENKO THE GREAT!!!!

  • f****** commentators! like they could do half of what HE can do! he is the AMAZING Plushenko, and face it, no skater could be as good as he is, not even US skaters. I hope they were fired after this...

  • HATE HATE HATE these commentators!!! My gosh, all negative comments throughout his performance! Just plain interruption for us to appreciate this great program, compared to the ESPN commentators NBC is sooooo biased!!! I agreed appreciation to his great skating is taken away! Cannot believe this kind of biased nonsense still broadcast in USA, what a pity to USA! Is that's what they have left?!

I COULD SAY SPORT COMMENTATORS IN USA ARE BIASED AND FULL OF BS THAN THOSE IN CHINA WHOM THEY CONDEMNED

  • hes not a US skater and nobody could come even close to beating him at this competition.. they couldnt be positive.. they are so biased. he deserved a better commentary because he is amazing!

  • I don't like them commentating. Too much of the negative, and not enough of the positive. They never talked about his past competition, or any of his successes. Which takes away appreciation. It was obvious that he is in with the jumps, but whatever, he still proved men skating.

  • shut up NBC..

  • When Evgeni doing break-dance:

    /watch?v=9Xx7zkWuQ_Y LOL!!!

  • he is insane, like tornado, like the wind and... he is human after all.

  • @herfefeni17 Actually that´s nothing compared to other performances. Try the 2004-2005 GPF, 2004-2005 Cup of Russia or 2005 Euros, the best versions of Godfather, IMO.

  • @herfefeni17 This is the best version of his Godfather:

    /watch?v=lNIENLK-tfM

  • @joshualidberg Because the judges cheated, and the Oly was in Canada! I hope you don't think, that Evan better skater than Evgeni....

  • CTV in Canada was that way too in Vancouver. Absolutely disgraceful. Our whole continent is stuck in the bloody Cold War.

The British are stunningly passionate, fair, and well-informed track and field commentators. Are they good at this sort of thing as well?

  • criticism?! limitation?! americans are such jealous kids.

  • NBC commentators are such a haters. They wish an American skater could jump like Plushenko. Hello Lysacek, where your GAY ass at?

  • I agree with you. He is an amazing skater and some people just can't take that Russian team usually performs on the top! Amazing performance!

  • charismatic~~

  • i love this guy!too bad for vancouver...hes the best.

  • Comment removed

  • @Alejandrominer Yes, you are a brain- washed american. If he skates like a gay, or like a girl, he would be artistry? You are ridiculous!! Why adore Plushenko so many people? You listen the audience!!! Simply adore him. The american commentators simply envious of Evgeni's talent, and they need to say something bad. Plushenko's moves with a lot of style and elegance and perfection and he does all that while still looking manly!!!!!!

  • @dorca000 This thing about being manly is annoying. If you have problems with yous sexuality, don't blame artistic skaters like they were drag queen just because they can actually move their body.

  • @Porporinablu I haven't problems with my sexuality, but i like when the men are men, and they look like men.

    Plushenko hasn't footwork? LOOOOL!

    I think, you are blind.

  • @dorca000 hes a pompus ass who is undeserving of his silver medal win at 2010. Evan Lysachek FTW!

  • @PD19954 Ha-ha. Are you bored yet?

  • @dorca000 of telling the truth? never! ahem WHOOO won gold in 2010? AHEM whats that? ! yeah thats what i thought!

  • @PD19954 No, of hating Plushy. You could experience how much people love him. He is a great guy, he is the greatest figure skater of all time. And.... " ahem WHOOO won gold in 2010? " Who?...Who was....? OMG! I don't remember...

  • LOL, these are some seriously hating ass commentators.

  • the lady "he knows his limitations..." yeah right, his limit was the gold medal, that was the limit, those commentators are so pathetic, any of them got three medals in three Olympics?. Evgeny limitations are in the infinite, there they are, he is going to Sochi, who else can do that?

  • the lady "he knows his limitations..." yeah right, his limit was the gold medal, that was the limit, those commentators are so pathetic, any of them got three medals in three Olympics. Evgeny limitations are in the infinite, there they are, he is going to Sochi, who else can do that?

  • " sacrificing the choreography..." oh please, what about after minute 1:10, what is that? are the commentators blind?

  • I do agree that he is disconnected from the music here. His movements don't match it in places. His speed is slower than usual and his delivery is average artistically. Nothing like his 2002 Olympic free skate or Yagudin's. All he needed to do was just skate clean as his lead from the short was 10 points. It was an easy win for him.

But I am 100% sure that if he was an American skater Hamilton and Button would have either kept their mouth shut or had only good to say about his performance.

  • fuck the commentators seriously. What biased horrible commentary. They obviously don't have enough knowledge on figure skating! they don't even have PROOF to back up the sort of criticisms about Plushy!

  • @demonluvv They have enough knowledge but they are biased. Actually if you watch Plushenko´s programs with NBC or CBC commentary or you read American forums and blogs you can think easily that Plushenko is a skater who never finished in top 10 in a competition.

  • from 2:42 the power of music makes shut up even american commentators// not for a long time, but/ anyway)

this is always VERY funny when americans talk about choreography, art, design, philosophy, soul, civilizations..

americans may only discuss SP500, bernanke speech...

russians - have perfect choreography (rythmic gymnastics, fig. skating, dance. no matter)

italians - make good furniture and clothes

americans - don't do such things, but they know everything about it))))

  • Evgeni was great here and in 2002...but not in 2010. I think he was lucky to get a silver medal. If Takahashi had a quad he would have won gold

  • @aynatn Lysacek was also lucky to get gold, Takahashi was also lucky to get bronze, etc. "If" does not exist in competitions, anybody would have won IF they had skated clean.

  • @aynatn Evgeni was,is,and will be the best. He is the most decorated champion of Fs history. The Fs fans adore him. Sorry for americans, they haven't really great skater. They have some good skater, who is gay or who skates like a girl, who skates like a gay. You need accept, Evgeni is the real winner in Eu and Asia! In Turin in 09.10.2010.was delirium for Evgeni, Evan got polite applause. He was ridiculous,he fall two times on the show. But we weren't surprised.

  • @aynatn Why thinks many people in the world, that Plu is the best? Because he is everything. He is artist, he is athlete, he is an entertainer. He has great sence of humor, he has awesome charisma. He is unique person. Evan said about him, Plu inspired him some years ago. Many people begun to watch the fs because of Plu. When he retired, they didn't watch. I read this: they are like Mozart ( Plu) and Salieri( Evan)!!! But he don't cares for americans. He get many love, anywhere he skate.

  • It makes me laugh to hear Scott Hamilton say stuff like "Sacrificing the choreography to get through these jumps". Yeah, like you were the most artistic skater ever Scott! Brian Orser and Josef Sabovcik were both better in 1984 in Sarajevo than Hamilton.

  • This is a gold medal performance. He is awesome.

  • Evgeni won this. I like Evan's skating, but you just have to appreciate what Evgeni did here. He deserved gold.

  • i DESPISE nbc....

  • Now I understand why the Americans say that Evgeni isn't artistry. The biased commentators washed their brains. But the explanation is very simple, extremely envious of Plushenko's talent.

  • Please tell me I'm not the only one having a "shut the f**k up" moment for the commentators. Honesty, no emotion? Yeah...and Lysacek's LP in Vancouver was SOOOOOO emotional...

  • @walover165 No, you are not the only one, they are so annoying! They expected him to cry, or what?

  • Dick Button said the magic word: FEROCITY! That´s exactly what defines Plushenko´s style, he is the no.1 promoter of the "aggresive skating". Unfortunately many people keep doing the same mistake, they compare him to skaters like Lambiel and they accuse him of lack of artistry!LOL! Button may be biased but he understands perfectly why Evgeni is so different from other skaters.

  • @SimonaCB I don't agree with you. Evgeni has agressive skating. Why? The Tribute to Nijnsky, Adagio, Moonlight Sonata, Tango and flamenco ect..In his agressive skating? I think, his skating is always manly, most elegant, graceful, but always MANLY!

  • @SimonaCB You really understand this sport, is the only true. Nice comment!

  • they say Evgeny had no programm, no transirions, no artistic impretion....But WHO HAVE EVER HAD? Acording to them i can suggest that Sarah Hues or probably Lysacek...If it is so,I personally dont want any impression at all!!!

  • omg these people suck.....

I didn't think that plushenko "HAD NO PROGRAM." wtf. Yes it leaned more toward the technical side but that's his strength, so why not capitalize on it? People who aren't capable of doing as many jumps will naturally lean toward more artistry.

Frankly, only plushenko can do what he does, so I personally don't mind that he focuses on different things in his program than other people.

  • @missperfection77 you're right!

  • Russians commentators never say thouse stupid things while skating as Americans...

And especialy not crying while jumps so loud than we can not hear music....

    Wery stupid shit-voice commentator..

  • good commentators would appreciate the beauty of amazing skating no matter what country the skater is from. this is why i watch cbc during the olympics and not nbc.

  • So little emotion? Really NBC? If this routine doesn't show emotion, then I don't know what does.

  • I hate this commentators.

  • I am gonna say something in defense of the commentators - Dick Button and Peggy Fleming were not only great skaters but pioneers who helped define the sport - Scott Hamilton won 15 straight titles prior to his '84 gold, and and Sandra Bezic has choreographed countless world and olympic medal routines. They what they're talking about because they've been there.

  • Another great program - for me this is a gold medal performance - I say this for those who have been offended by my lack of regard for his performance in 2010.

  • "but there are no transitions. I'm sory it's tru" Интересно, сколько времени понадобится американцам, чтобы забыть об этих трансиженах и научиться ценить мужское фигурное катание. Мозги промыты капитально... Грустно читать этот бред под таким замечательным видео.

  • "Spins, and then arm movements." How pithily accurate! I love how Dick Button is not afraid to call it as he sees it! Love you, Dick!

  • No offense to Dick Button who I love, but Plushy worked with the system they put in place-- don't blame him for working it better than others. They wanted to reward points, and that 's what he gave them. His jumps are awesome and I think he has great presence on the ice- he's Russian and he carries himself like a champion, much like a "Godfather" would. All that emotions crap is something they use to prop up our skaters. No one can touch him technically, and he more than deserved gold.

  • "It's wise. He knows his limitations" PLEASE!!! What limitations??? He's working the scoring system. Who can blame him; he's smart enough and talented enough to win. Fabulous skater!! LOVE YOUR SKATING :)

  • @chupachupal I know! If he's limited then the rest of the field is... not even functioning? This performance was heads and shoulders above the rest, and their complaints were without merit since the changes he had made to for instance his spins were for the exact reason to work the system.

  • I must agree that Evgeni did look a little tense and tired here. Must have been the nerves. After all he had a 10 point lead and his first gold ever depended on this long program. These commentators though totally praised his short program for artistry and choreography.

What I find interesting is that Dick Button here says that Plush always keeps him riveted cause he never knows what to expect from him. This year this same dick has been out on a smearing campaign against him.

  • these commentators, please they are blind? they are talking about evan's performance?

are they deaf? don't they listen the audience craziness with Plushenko's performance?

  • let's stop purging the commentors shall we?

the reaction from the crowd is already a huge slap in the face for these pretentious aloof so-called nobilities known as the NBC commentors

  • Is the NBC coverage a bit biased? Yes... but, I've had friends translate the Russian, and other European country commentaries, and its even MORE biased. People are quick to condemn the US commentary because more people understand English than other languages. I agree that NBC should tone it down, but Scott knows what he's talking about, and despite his brilliant jumping, his choreography does lack a bit. Remember, we grew up with Kwan, so artistry is very important to us here.

  • @mlc2005 Nonsense. The European and Russian commentators comment after the performance, not during. They don't talk nonstop during the performance itself. That is a monumental difference.

  • Scott Hamilton here is really annoying. I can't believe how commentators here did not stop putting down a skater throught his program. Not just this program. I feel that they need to learn how to appreciate programs when non-american skaters skate,

  • @hshim80 Watch yu-na kim's free skate from the 2010 olympics, aliona savchenko and robin szolchovy's free skate from 2009 worlds, patrick chan's short program from 2009 worlds, nobunari oda's free skate from the trophee eric bompard and you'll see that they're just telling the truth.

  • @Luukashist You know what? When i hear this comment without watching this performance, it sounds like his worst performance. Scott Hamilton and others try to give Plushenko's negative image to the spectators.lol~ Yeat, there are foreigners that Scott Hamilton do not talk ill of. But when american skaters make mistakes, they are just silent or say "Oh, it's nothing"

  • Comment removed

  • @hshim80 Are we watching the same videos????? If you think that then you must be muting the sound or something because that's TOTALLY and UTTERLLY WRONG and I AM justified in saying that you are wrong because this isn't opinion-based, you're probably just making up these mean things to get attention from people like me, so I guess this just isn't worth my time.

  • @Luukashist To my eyes, this performance in Turin olympic is way better than other ones. Haha~ Maybe if you compare Labiel to Plushenko, that may be valid. But I prefer Plushenko's performance. That's my taste.

  • @Luukashist If you want to see an artisticly program:/watch?v=kkhn4KbisJc

  • @Luukashist Many Examples! Haha~You should give me more examples, then!. My general impression from those commentators are not good. When there is a skater that americans cannot catch up with, they keep saying bad things. Your examples are not enough to change my overall impression on american commentators: Dick Button and Scott Hamilton. lol~

  • @hshim80 well you're basing your entire opinion on a one-time thing, and the thing is, everything they're saying is true. This performance is exciting, but not because of any emotion, just because of exciting jumps and flailing arm movements he does in between. When you look closely, he's really not doing much performing at all, he's just skating around doing jumps at some parts, then at other parts he's spinning and at other's he's doing footwork, but there are no transitions. I'm sory it's tru

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @Luukashist You need to distinguish how "fact" is different from "opinion". To me. those commentators sound irrelevant. lol~ I also do not feel worhwhile to respond to you. You are the one who said that I should watch other performances commented by these commentators. And You suggested me a good option: I already muted the sound. Don't worry~

  • @Luukashist Then why did these commentators bash Plushenko when he performed Sainte Petersburg 300 or Nijinsky? Well, or why did not they give good comments on Yagudin's Olympic performance in 2002? I have just found out that they even keep saying obnoxious stuff about Lambiel: Talk to me about 2002, 2006, 2010 whole NBC coverage.lol~

  • I like how after NBC completely fucks up the commentating for Yagudin's 2002 MITIM, they goes on to fuck up this one as well..

I didnt hear their commentating for Lysacek's performance, but I bet they crowned his ass before he even stepped on the ice.

    NBC commentating=biased BS

  • @IamHaddy I agree and it makes me laugh to listen to Scott Hamilton talking about artistry, as if Hamilton was ever artistic in his amateur career - his strength was always on the technical side. He only won in Sarajevo '84 because of his lead in figures, Orser was streets ahead of him in the free.

  • @IamHaddy I agree with you. He is an amazing skater and some people just can't take that Russian team usually performs on the top! Amazing performance!

  • @IamHaddy I don't think they're so bad, they support him a lot when he's doing good and criticize when is less perfect... I mean, I like him a lot (do not even mention me Lysaceck) but it's true the thing about his program "jump-arms-jump".

  • @Porporinablu Personally I like when commentators keep quiet while the skater is performing, lefting technical observations for the replay time. Talk about what they like or deslike is not a mortal sin, but I think Sandra and Scott take it too far sometimes.

  • @Porporinablu The Godfather:

    Listen to the commentators!

    NBC is BIASED.

    /

  • @IamHaddy same they did and do all the time with mao and yuna. They are just too unprofessional to me

  • OMG!!! I remember this performance in 2006. I had taped it and watched it over and over because he was my favorite for years. I have never done that with any other male skater. This performance is fantastic regardless what the commentators say. Wish he could have obtained gold in Vancouver.

  • This was a great performance, his 2010 wasn't close to this

  • How can anyone say that his 2010 performance was as good as this? Although it is clear that the jumps are front-loaded in both performances, and I don't think they had the 10% bonus back in 2006. I was not impressed with anyone this year, except perhaps Takahashi - too bad he fell!!!

  • Stupid commentators. Jumps ARE a type of choreography.

  • He's so much younger and cuter here. He also seems to have more stamina. I think taking those three and a half years off hurt his skills a bit. He wasn't as in shape and ready for these olympics. It was still impressive what he was able to pull off though, esp. considering taking that much time off in this sport is suicide most of the time!

  • This was definitely better than his 2010 performance and look at his scores. For those people who think Plushenko was robbed well look at this performance and his score, it matches compared to his 2010 performance. I agree that men's figure skating should have quads but have it with a clean performance. Plushenko lacked the quality and stability of the overall performance in 2010, and evan lacked the quad. I guess the judges chose evan. Hopefully next olympics we have a competitor with both

  • I agree that Plushenko really earned the gold in 2006 and I just don't think he was as strong in 2010. I think the main problem was that he acted as if he was entitled to it . Nobody likes sour grapes and it turned the commentators off too. In the end, though, they are both fantastic athletes but I don't think either of their gold medal performances holds a candle to Yagudin in 2002. He was really the best champion---fantastic jumper with quad jumps but also exquisite artistry.

  • Americans commentators are assholes. They knew NO ONE could touch Evgeni. Lysacek 10th after short program was a frikking joke.

  • He actually won GOLD here ;)

  • @PomsThree , i don't believe his country felt dishonored, they just named him Ambassador of Olympics 2014 in Sochi!!. Its you who felt that way because of course you think Evan's medal is well deserved. I think Evgeni has enough experience, fame, titles and rights to say whatever he thinks about his sport and if he felt his score was unfair, let him talk, he never insulted anybody, it was his opinion, and I agree with him, he is the real champion.

  • Comment removed

  • He is a great skater, but is so boring to watch! I definitely think that Evan skated better! Johnny Weir was also phenomenal.....he was the one who was robbed. His performance was flawless and he still placed sixth. With the way that he skated his LP, he should have placed third at least.

  • @ameliedaae, it s only your opinion, that boring skater is TWO SILVER OLYMPIC MEDAL AND ONE GOLD MEDAL, no mention of other titles and championship, because you really get bored counting how many times he got first.

  • you BET I can teach him something - for starters what it is to have class and dignity, because he obviously lacks in those departments. And maybe those 5 languages I speak, or anything else he can't do but I can??? Get a clue, would ya? Being a figure skater doesn't put you above the others or doesn't give you more right to "say what you want". You can love him all you want, but don't act like one arrogant figure skater is the center of the world. Jeez!

  • Simply the KING of skating... robbed of gold this year....

    PLUSHY for 2014!! :)

  • Plushenko is a genius of the ice. He has a very charismatic and imposing appearance, you can;t take your eyes of him. His programs have always been very difficult both in terms of jumps and in terms of step sequences ( just look at this one it's amazing). I haven;t watched the olympics but i have seen both evan's and plushi's LP in other competitions and i think evan is good but isn't star material like plushenko and he isn't setting the bar as high

  • @greatestgig

You should probably watch both of their programs from this Olympics. Evan was far better this time, and that's what mattered. Most of Plushenko's jumps were sloppy, while most of Evan's were flawless..

  • Evan didn't even have triple axel combo in SP and the most difficult combo he did in the LP was triple axel/double toe....That doesn't make a champion. Evan is not an artistic skater nor is he pleasant to watch. Evgeny was totally and completely robbed.

  • There is no denying his skill, the man is talented. His performance in Vancouver lacked the technicality that Lysacek had and his jumps were shaky. I certainly hope Plushenko returns next Olympics, his talent and confidence added so much to the game.

  • @ Everyone that is criticizing

It is the Olympics, and if doing jumps will rack up points and win medals, then that's what the athelete would do. If you want to see performances that are strong on choreographing, exibitions are a great place to go to. Olympics only come around once every four years and that's too much of a risk to take just to please a few audiences that, truth to be told, don't really matter when it comes to the final results.

  • Q crack!!!! No hay palabras...

  • im 100% sure if he was an american skater these commentators would be saying how emotional and amazing he is. its all about "home pride"

  • @TheDasha92 I completely agree.

  • @TheDasha92 I am America and I like this routine - but I don't think his program in 2010 compared favorably to this one - it's not about national bias - Even Plushenko based his claim that he should have won in 2010 on the quad - he doesn't claim he was artistically superior.

  • @Chutson353 Very interesting, what you said. Do you know Evgeni's presentation marks was higher than Evan's in Vancouver? If Plushenko wasn't artistry in Vancouver, how was Evan? But i think Evgeni is hypnotizing to watch...
