Bill left the band because he was bored and tired of the same old stuff ...My understanding of his departure is Chicago had turned into a tribute band ...kinda sad , This is a band who opened for Jimi Hendrix and did world tours ...
@pookers2000 Just saw them, no, there are exactly zero of Bill's songs in the set. Lou did a couple of the old Terry songs and that is it. Lou does not play guitar at least not in Chicago. All the back ground vocals that bill used to do on other songs is simply gone. I won't go in to how poorly the rest of the band sounded that night, but it wasn't good. I think we are seeing the beginning of the end, I can't image them going on much longer, like this.
mmhh....still this performance is a shame...don't take it personal my friend...I've been a fan of the Band since cetera..and also when scheff came to the band (you can check my videos tributing scheff!!)...I think you are mad seeing the truth...but again...The Great "Rock And Roll Band With Horns" is going down fast!...And It Hurts Me!, but must face and say the truth...
ooberdork2, one point of interest for for you if you talk to Cetera or see one of his more recent interviews you would find that back in 1986 he was faced with some serious choices and ultimately was forced out of the band, as was Bill in 09. Neither of them left the band because they wanted to.
That's correct my friend, agree with you again!... none of them wanted to leave!...they were fired!...and Champlin by e-mail! my God!...what kind of 28 years folks do that with one of the best rock musicians of the modern era??...I got heartbreaked by Chicago old team members..
.and there are rumors saying that Scheff was the one who started the idea!!..Scheff!!..the one who Champlin gave a hand to join Chicago!!..hope this is not true..because if it is...the traitor behavior seems to be a constant with this guys!!!..
David Foster was the cure and the disease of this band. He pumped Ceteras head so big he had no way to go but to leave. I hate that. They have so much heart and talent they just need a good manager to pull all this together
ledzep723, I can't agree more with you my friend! I just saw the video of cetera (65 year old!!) and is far more superior tho this crap!....Best Regards!
This is just an example of how a great band starts to die....Shame to see this video...a song performed without the original singers!!!!!! paradox!!!!!!....this seems like a karaoke performance...too bad for Chicago...they're definitively gone...
I think Jason is at the point that he doesn't care anymore, and why should he, he is dueting with a bad imitation of Bill. I think the ship has been headed for the rocks for a few years now, but with Lou I think it's hit ground and taking on water.
Maybe it's just me... But I think Lou for being in the band a short time, does a decent job on this.. Now, Jason on the other hand was mailing it in. I thought his vocals were incredibly bad. Would like to see more of this song and more of Lou singing it.
Lou is in his wheelhouse; keys are too high for "the singer" now but the original members won't let them change the keys because then THEY'LL have to relearn the songs... and THAT can't happen. Horn Section - 1; Singers - 0; Fans - 0.
Lou is not bad but he is no Bill. And Bill left it all on the table about 10 years ago. Jason has sucked for about five years now. The horns hardly show up. Imboden needs an assistant, albeit due to health issues. Lamm is only ok anymore. Basically the band should have quit around 2002. That's the last time they played worth a shit.
I saw them at Harrah's Tunica Mississippi on Friday 10/02/09 and have video at willronroe. I agree. This new guy does not seem to have it, and, for years now JASON has lost what he had in his early years with CHICAGO.
I had to stop the vid one minute in. That was horrible! Chicago is my favorite band of all time, but I'm increasingly becoming more and more disappointed with them lately..
you would think Lou would do a mediocre job at this song being the new guy and all but he actually does a great job. Jason however has been doing this with Chicago for 25 years almost and he does the mediocre performance. very ironic
Lou Pardini steps in and immediately becomes the best singer in Chicago. I just hope his talents are not wasted. Jason?...that was rough!
Robert, Lou, and Jimmy need to head off to a cabin in the mountains for about 2 months and I am sure they would collaborate on some amazing stuff. Lou? Just as Bill had some hits infusing a new voice to the sound of Chicago, Lou has a voice that would sell millions of records if the originals would eat some Humble pie and allow Lou to pilot the boat.
But, Lou's doing his best!!

Has anyone seen a recent show with Lou? I'm wondering if he tries doing covers of "Look Away" or "Your'e Not Alone". Does Lou play guitar at all?

I think Lou is imitating Bill Champlin or is it my imagination, or is somewhat constipated

This might sound a little better if it were Peter Cetera and Lou Pardini singing this!

Bill was great but sometimes his ad-libbing really got too carried away. I'd like to hear Lou do Look Away or the whole version of HHTB.

That was just awful. Scheff has completely lost it and Pardini is almost as bad. Stay away from these shows.
