  • China airlines in the past had the bad impression of wanting to get the "best bang for their buck" and on occiasion purposely overloaded the takeoff weight limit, which poses a huge hazard if they could get airbourne, and even bigger one attempting to land. I hope all the added attention has improved their management somewhat.

  • thank god for ground effect

  • I think flaps and thrust. The 737 needs it's full thrust on such a short runway and the flaps were way to retracted for a take off with full load.

  • @DarkwerefoxRed Did you learn that in a flight sim?

  • @thatsliam

No, but in the many safety reports and other stuff I read...but I also have many experience as traveler and in Flight simulators. I also was in a full flight sim already...and made the landing.

  • Tha plane go overloaded, and the pilot only put 5° flaps ?? is not a good idea...

  • not surprise some people being so racist after finding themselves very fat and dum compared to Chinese. P.S. dont be so jealous. lol

  • come on china im so dissapointed i thou flying a plane would be easy for you guys or even worse you'll be flying the planes from your computer screens with ease :( chinas slacking man lol

  • If the Chinese made their own planes, which were set to Mandarin/Cantonese, they'd probably fly them a little better as they don't seem to understand English all to well...

  • When does it blow up?

  • @deathstardisco screw you planes never blow up, safest way to travel u just watch to many movies

  • @kwilson4961 It was a sarcastic comment at China Airlines' terrible safety record.

  • @deathstardisco o haha ok sorry. hard to tell when your reading it

  • No Racium here. flapswhere not extended, ground speed no where 140 tortaion, bu be come air born, Flight shouls have been aborted ahalf down the run way

  • pretty sure he takes out a runway light at the end...

  • anyone else notice his lack of flaps?

  • No, it looks like flaps 5 to me.

  • Well done by pilot! After passing POR he probably noticed to low acceleration and used on purpose full length to get airborne as his best shot to get airborne. Skills!

  • @urfanl If I am honest, I would immediately call an aborted takeoff if that was the case. But I'm not an airline pilot, so who am I to say.

  • Overweight or not full throttle.

  • If they charged all the passengers $35 per suitcase and $100 additional for overweight bags like they do in USA they wouldn't have that problem.

  • What hell is that??What about to read about take off procedures??

  • Hey, that pilot is right in what he did. They charge you the same amount whether you use half the runway or the full length, don't they?

  • I like to rotate when I see that there is no longer any runway in front of me as well.

  • Man, just barely made it.

  • V1 is there for a reason...I would say he clearly fucked that up

  • it almost overran!

  • That was close!!

  • You break it, you bought it.

  • China Airlines is a Taiwanese airline smartasses.

  • Why waste the runway use it all up?

  • Made in China!

  • i guess china packs their planes like japan packs their trains :P

  • how many Chiinese was on that plane the not that big ... but damn there most be alot of it have a hard time to get up hhee

  • Made In China

  • cheap chineese imitation of a plane!

  • @NikolaosLedZeppelin ummm thats a boeing 737,maybe cheap chinese imation of a pilot??

  • @markab71 that airline is taiwanese smartass...

  • All your thresholds are belong to us!

  • Clearly China Airlines uses planes that are made in China.

  • @ZaprdicaJelic umm, the Boeing 737-400 in the video is an American plane. Built by an American company. Nice try, but do some research first =P

  • @PLynnJr95 umm, clearly it was a joke... nerd!

  • @PLynnJr95 And flown by a Chinese/Taiwanese idiot.

  • @archer49d I smell racism everywhere.

  • Imfao as Chinese peoples are short, they might be standing and flying their penis!!!!!! XD

  • mug up captains

  • no flaps !!??

  • @Postie218

Flaps are set, just hard to see

  • @Postie218 Airplane, boeing 737, edition 400, which is on this recording, has a unique construction of the wings, so it is very difficult to see whether the flaps down.

  • @Stajke93 this is a 737-800

  • @yoyoyoyoshua Not 800 but 400.You can see the nose of the aircraft, the wings and the length of airplane. You dont have to teach me, I am the first officer in the "northwestern airlines" in "Boeing 737-800".

  • @Stajke93

Sure you are "THE First Officer IN THE Northwestern Airlines in Boeing 737-800"

It's called North West Airlines and it doesn't exist anymore you lying numb-scull

  • @Stajke93

Difficult, maybe. But in this case it's pretty obvious that he didn't have his flaps deployed.

  • @rapskallion Not true.

  • the pilot wanted to taxi all the way to the destination

  • if only the passengers see the end of the runway they will scream

  • If passengers didn't screamed like in hell, they would never rotate this bird

  • Did it hit the fence at the end of the runway?????

    Stupid Asians

  • Was that a case of ED?

  • Its called getting your moneys worth for the runway xD

  • slats are extended and flaps at 5 degrees

  • That's the result of..300 people in a 737 ;)

  • they have sumo in the plane :-)

  • @CataCaty23 sumo's are japanese :)

  • @CataCaty23 Or it's just filled with people from Houston.

  • it is not 737-300 or 737-400 rather than 737-800.

  • Overloaded, air density was low due to temps, and failure to follow procedures about aborting TO because they tried to force it into the air. If you rotate at V2 and the plane fails to lift, you abort. But this is China air. They could fire pilots for missing deadlines and the pilots forced the takeoff instead of risking their jobs.

  • @DouglasMiles1

You don't rotate at V2, and you certainly don't test it out to see if it will lift off.

  • @DouglasMiles1

    You don't rotate at V2

  • @DouglasMiles1 Non-sense. This incident the pilots speed indicators were showing conflicting speeds....meaning the plane was traveling faster than what their speed instruments were showing. Realizing they were running out of runway, they rotated. At time of rotation they were already surpassed all V-speeds but their instruments showed otherwise.

  • Flaps were up for sure. Someone didn't read the checklist!

  • What's the attitude? Something's wrong with this.

  • @urgdaddy Iam thinking that there was no wind and the plane was very heavy as well as at a high altitude at the airport location...

  • the flaps were not down, look close, my god it could of killed every one

  • @jamesfoote1966 Flaps are definately extended for take off, no doubt about it. You can see it clearly at several points of the video. Good thinking though :)

  • @jamesfoote1966 when we take off , we only need flap5to15,and it's a 738 so flap5 could be enough.

  • Pilot: Ok, were going fast enough, pull up

    Co-Pilot: No

    Pilot: Why?

Co-Pilot: Lets go to the end of the runway, then pull up

    Pilot: Why?

    Co-Pilot: I'm afraid of flying

    Pilot: Dude....

  • Holy shit...

  • Hold is overloaded.

  • Lmao//

  • because its made in china!

  • lol

  • Just getting thier moneys worth for the runway fees.

  • It need Viagra to get it up.

  • Meh it's Chinese, a billion more where they came from.

  • it would be funny if there were spotters at the end of the runway and they dropped their cameras and dived out of the way ;)

  • HOLY SHIT lol

  • Wow ! That was close !

  • What were they hoping to achieve, taxiing to their destination!

  • chinese pilot defense: wai hang mi??

  • Flaps were not set to 5 degrees as per 737-800 POH.

  • @munners455 hard to see but the flaps did not look set I'm sure the pilot hit V1 at the correct speed and place so he had no option but to fly but it did not fly when rotated he did a good job of saving it even if it was pilot error with no flaps.

  • @MotelCambodia I think you are right, looks like they were maybe down 1 degree lol

  • No you're all wrong, they were just trying to beat the world record of flying the lowest LOL

    I joke I joke XD

  • That flight must of had too many fat ass americans on it. McDonald's in the airport was a bad idea.

  • @Saguaro24

first of all this is china airlines..... IN CHINA.

And second of all, Not everyone in America is fat.

im pretty sure ur country has a mcdonalds too that everybody and there auntie is always buying food from.

  • @igneousrocklad First of all American's can and do fly to China. Second of all, you're right sadly my country has tons and tons of McDonalds resturants along with tons of other fast food in it because I am American and live in America. You are right, not all Americans are fat but we are number one in obesity.

  • @Saguaro24 hahaha

  • trim it up man

  • i have been to thailand with china airlines on a 747 they aint safe never again i would never recomend china airlines i shit myself and the plane was shit'e inside and out not recomended !!!!!

  • Why didn´t he RTO?

  • @2129261184 After V1, rejected takeoff is not recommended by the POH on any plane....This was purely pilot error, I dont see how a fracture could have delayed his takeoff though...

  • @TuscanoJoe I believe the fractures were CAUSED by the lights.. As it states the plane was "later to have been found with fractures in the rear fuselage". I dunno though.

  • @vtwinbreed The lights would not have caused the fracture. Asian Aircraft operators tend to overload the aircraft and that often results in a take-off where they smack the tail on the runway or they come down hard on landings. They are also known for poor maintenance on their aircraft. I absolutely will not fly on anything that isn't a first rate airline.

  • @2129261184 whats rto

  • @TheWhiteOwl23 Rejected Take-Off

  • @2129261184 i dont think they know that stuff over there

  • Nobody chooses to us that much runway if they can avoid it !

  • Guys,he just ex-taxi driver,mor milege on the ground-mor money.And definetly fat bum.

  • guess they have to recalculate their take off weight now there taking americans lol

  • @Wabbit0789 You're a funny fucker.

  • wow that's about as close as u can get

  • Wow. Made in China.

  • guess he forgot what rotate meant?

  • load of fatties?

  • Only In China!

    haha

  • @mackyboyEMO china airlines owned by taiwan

    fucking ironic isnt it?

  • Hmmmm, they tried to mow the grass?

  • i bet the pilot checked his jocks after that

  • @Dreama40 lol, i'm sure he did. Some passengers may've done the same!

  • they paid for the runway that's why

  • Made in China! No wonder why I avoid using them

  • @CellisJacob

Its a Boeing 737 not made in China , anyway china ariline is a good airline : P

  • About 20 years back, this China Airlines flight engineer in a four engine plane saw that 3 of his 4 engines were out, so he went into restart procedure, which requires shutdown, of all 3 at once. The plane was almost lost, lost over 20,000 ft. altitude before they were restarted. Of course, the engines were all running fine, there was some weird problem with the gauges.

  • Can't drive a car? Then fly a plane!

  • Not the first time the Chinese "fail to get up"

  • "Hey....Bob?" "Yeah Steve?" "When am I supposed to pull up again?" "At the end of the runway...why?" "Because it's 3 feet away." "Oooooo S*&%!"

  • @WarNerd16 when was the last time i met taiwanese named "bob" and "steve"? lol

  • @WarNerd16 replace the names with Ching and Yiax

  • No Flaps....................................

  • @oYFOR That's what it looks like to me.

  • China Airlines is from China!

  • @hiimkian It's funny cause they LITERALLY got all of the runway! lol

  • @hiimkian ahahahahahhahahaahahhahahahhahaa no China Airlines is from Japan, because its called China airlines xD of course its from China the airline name says it all.. but hey when i need some on to state the obvious ill make sure to give you a call.

  • @deadmansvoice are you retarded? china airlines is from Taiwan, also known by its official name as the Republic of China.

  • The plane was over capacity, face it, its china.

  • @rysnyper50002 its not china its taiwan u nub

  • to start with is a boeing not airbus.. so safety margin is not there.. No FMGS. second... no flap & no slats. although it dones not matter if you have enough runway. Flaps are there to minimise the landing and takeoff distance.. if he had enough Take of distance avialable (TODA) he still could have made it.. the BIG PROBLEM here is TOM (take off mass).... pilot error calculation.. it if was an airbus or a moderen boeing it would have given the pilot Config Warning.

  • @manuelgozo i agree with you on that, looked over weight to me, but then again a cracked fuselage fucks with aerodynamics, he was lucky to even get it off the ground

  • made in china

  • china airline is from taiwan

  • who the fuck decided that

  • Definetly, i can't even believe this is possible with all the safety nowadays, no chance those two are still in a job, There's actually no flap extension at all there.

  • At 0:27, I would pee myself...

  • Look at info comments, you'll get your answers

  • Did he run out of the runway?

Not sure what I'm looking at...

  • How do you say V1 in Chinese?

  • V ONE BIG DADDY. That was too close.

  • don't worry guys, it's just Chinese pilots trying to show off to the IL-76 guys.

    Take off thrust set.

  • The text is all Japanese? Was this actually a Chinese airliner?

  • definitely china airlines (taiwan company)

  • Was the cargo hold full of moon rocks or something? That aircraft didn't gain speed very fast.

  • that's what they get for not using premium lol

  • I see flaps.. but what I don't see is large elevator movement... it's like he was doing it on purpose or something was wrong with the controls? At rotation those elevators are barely deflected up.

  • @jmr604

If he pulled it all the way up the tail could have hit the ground. Plus they don't move a lot, he was pulling up fairly hard.

  • all I'm saying is I don't see any elevator deflection... either something was wrong or he wasn't pulling at all... that's all... my 2 cents.

  • there is no use in pulling at all if you don't have enough airspeed.

  • He had enough.. he got airborn.. but his angle of attack was minimal... something wasn't right there... he either couldn't or wasn't pulling back hard enough.. just look at the deflection of the elevators.. it's minimal.. that's all I'm saying but nobody seems to get it.

  • No you don't get it. There is no use in rotating if you don't have the speed. Remember there's two live pilots up there....

He didn't have a shallow angle he does rotate normally and the video cuts out as his rotation become steeper as you expect it.

  • Whatever dude. I've been a pilot since I was 16, I'm 28 now. So I live up there too. I know what I'm talking about and it's obvious you don't get it. So no use arguing with you.

  • dude he doesn't "pull up hard enough" like you wanted him to because he needs to build up speed or he will stall again, that's why the "shallow" climb after the rotation.

he is going very slow the whole video and gets enough speed at the end. he was proably at arond 140, if he "pulls up hard enough" that will reduce the speed and possibly stall the airplane.

  • @jmr604 ...didn't even look like he was pulling to me too.

  • I know, that's exactly what I was saying. He either wasn't or couldn't. Which and the reason is unknown to me.

  • I read that the speed indicator wasnt reading properly and the pilot returned the aircraft to Saga. No passengers were on board.

  • If that was the case they should have aborted before V1... unless something happened to it after V1.

  • yeah isnt that the whole purpose of even calling that out?

  • b737 series aircraft, flapless takeoff a possibility with a longer runway. looks like he lifted off at arnd 120kts or so.

  • look maw.. No Flaps!!! lmao...

  • Ya, it doesn't look like he set the flaps, or waited too long to rotate. Either way it wasn't a cracked fuselage that caused this, just a crappy pilot.

  • Flaps are set at 5 which is acceptable for take off. Without flaps it likely wouldn't get into the air at all.

  • HEY !!! I know what happened:....the pilots were blind pilots....The only way for them to know when to lift off is when all passengers start screamming.

  • Where the hell was the call for aborted landing based on TODA and the fact that V1 was probably way further down the runway than calculated?

Dangerous flying that should be left back at the birth of flight.

  • Way down on energy, a good 35% - 45% by V1 mark - call.

No excuse, the bastard(s) should be grounded, licenses permanently stripped.

Came within 1 second of crashing.

  • thats Japanese!! not chinese

  • Look at his deck angle at liftoff. Less than 5 degrees. He rotated at a high speed. Probably miss set his V1 , VR , V2 too high. In other words he could/should have rotated way before that.

  • why waste the rest of the runway use it all up

  • @crapper1 lol

  • @crapper1 Why waste people's lives though? lol
