@ambroom "advanced" doesnt mean driving in a fancy ride, it means he or she has more training then regular paramedics to deal with more serious situtations
an 'advanced' paramedic unit wouldve done a handbrake turn instead of a U-turn then SPED off, instead of going the same speed as other traffic. UNAMUSED
@Cexuup "advanced" doesnt mean driving like you do on gta, it means he or she has more training then regular paramedics to deal with more serious situtations
Gosh. wherever this is people suck, they take so long to get out of the way. Over here if we see or hear an ambulance coming the first thing we do is mount a curb or something to get out of the way. In this video they kind of sit there waiting for everyone to move... :( what if it was you who was in trouble.
@forbzy1590 I do see what you mean, and I'm not too sure what the laws of the road are in the U.S (I'm guessing from the word 'curb') but it's illegal to cross a red light, even if moving out of the way of an ambulance, fire truck, etc, so they probably didn't know what to do. It's illogical.
Just a couple of informative facts for those intent on debating it.
The car: Ford Mondeo Estate, Advanced Paramedic Response Car belonging to Dublin Fire Brigade. Every member of DFB is also a Paramedic or EMT and DFB provide the main frontline Ambulance Service for Dublin.
The siren is a HAZTEC, as is the lightbar, most commonly used by both DFB and An Garda Síochána, Irish Police.
@KrAxRACING It's an advanced paramadic unit. The idea being to get a first responder to scene as quickly as possible and follow up with an ambulance if needed. They have most drugs and equipment an ambulance has crammed in there, just bar the stryker stretcher.
@Vesivian Think carefully..... Perhaps the paramedic has had Advanced Training? You dont need to be a genius to work that out..... Damn some people are stupid.
This is Ridiculous. dublin fire brigade as well as tackling fires also run paramedic and advanced paramedic crews thats all you need to know stop comparing us to america nobody gives a shit
Well in USA, its quite often that ambulances don't have Paramedics, but instead have EMT's. If the call needs Advanced Life Support (ALS) staff than a paramedic may come in a vehicle such as this to upgrade them.
@MedicPatriot Makes sense, i'm really new to the EMS system so i'm not debating your expertise, my question stems from where i am( South Carolina) rescue sqauds run a driver who MAY be an EMR, usaually just has a CPR card, and an EMT-B, but paid services run EMT and Medic out of our fire houses, so even if you call for ALS, you get an ambulance.
Here paid companies USUALLY, but not always, are staffed medic level. Volunteer companies are staffed anything from BLS, BLS with IV capabilities, EMT-I or EMT-P. It depends who is available at the volunteer companies. If a BLS unit decides its an ALS call, they request ALS. Sometimes that ALS will be a medic unit and sometimes it will be a chase car like you see in the video.
We don't have the luxury of having lights on our pov's over here like you do in America. Amber lights in this country are for construction traffic and motorway maintainance and the like, not emergency services voluntary or not. Ireland..emergency service=blue lights
@LeSedici the other EV is a Garda (Police) car...amber ligtbars are in fact yellow, and they're taxis. Light on means for hire, light off means hired.
@stedon101 so garda means police in that country? the funny thing is the security company i work for in canada is named "garda", which country is this and what language?
Dublin Fire Brigade operate these cars from Tara Street Fire Station in the City Centre. Unfortunatley they are very seldom on the road, they are mainly used when training new APs for the HSE and DFB. Other than that they tend to sit idle, its a pity as they could be used to great effect in a full time capacity.
IN FACT, your wrong, their training center is in the OBI. On a VERY seldom occasion they can dispatch an instructor from the OBI in a car but as I said this is very very seldom. The crying shame is that the APs provided by DFB don't even carry Morphine so they cant practice their full range of skills.
The cars base is the obi and they are dispatched into standby positions around the city (i.e. Tara street) in the mornings, and the AP's carry a range of cardiac drugs including morphine and aspirin. AP's have a larger range of skills that EMT'S and paramedics don't for example they use a manual defib when emt's use a semi automatic defib which im sure you know already other wise you wouldn't be talking to me.
EMT's in my state can only administer glucose and oxygen...it sucks. And First Responders can only administer oxygen @ 15Liters via NRB. Is that national?

@BlimstersCp You're right. However, Ireland isn't part of Britain, and uses a system alot like America (fire brigade provides the ambulances and paramedics).

Ok, lets break this down simply for you...
1) Dispatching a car to a station in the "mornings" on "most days" does not constitute a full time cover.
2) Im fully aware of what drugs an AP carries, however, the DFB paramedics dont carry morphine.
3) Morphine isnt a cardiac drug.
4) Aspirin isnt an AP only drug, it can be given by any CFR, OFA, EFR, EMT, Paramedic or AP.
5) When your going to get into a war of words with someone regarding the provision of EMS in Dublin, do your homework first
