a little bit, but of course jerry goldsmith was the one that gave star trek one of its main themes and did some music for some of star trek, so it probably would sound somewhat like star trek.
This is a great example of how badly Goldsmith is missed in modern film scoring. Goldsmith always had subtlety as well as great technical ability and considerable imagination. Even during the 1990's, when film makers wanted functional scores, Goldsmith still was able to produce some memorable scores. Unfortunately too many modern movies never allow space or time to develop music properly and patiently.
It's true and it's the same thing about special effects. A great makeup artist like Rob BOTTIN
( THE THING, TOTAL RECALL ) was banned from DEEP RISING because he was a perfectionnist and now everybody in Hollywood prefe fake CGI monsters because it's more easy to do. The golden age of cinema ended when Rob BOTTIN became unemployed and Stan WINSTON and Jerry GOLDSMITH vanished (even if Rick BAKER stays still). Such artists were genious and modern movies lack of their magic touch.

@Gawaine687 I know, I was hinting at what I perceive to be Goldsmith's signature 'style'.

@kakalunga
Are you refering to the strings or the brass as having similarities.

The brass.

I can distinctly hear Goldsmith's unique style in this piece. It reminds me of his other scores.
