No one seriously listens to Oasis for their articulate, lyrical ability. Even Noel admits he hates writing lyrics, most of them are just thrown out quickly to fill a page, and even the songs with better words are only alright. It's the music, the passion, the melodies etc that I used to like about them, not the constant nonsense immature rhyming. Once you're past 21 you realise there are much better lyricists out there - and from Manchester for a start

You're surely not suggesting that there is anything overtly intelligent or articulate about Oasis's lyrics? Even Noel admits he hates writing lyrics and that he just puts down what will scan or rhyme. They are in the main clumsly. "this old town don't smell too pretty", "sister psychosis don't got a lot to say", "in my mind" about 30 times.....Oasis are not a lyrics band, but - their early stuff anyway - was about passion, guts and rock. Which they have totally lost now.

Noel G himself admits that he has real problems with lyrics and often just puts down whatever comes into his head that rhymes, which is why a lot of their stuff doesn't stand up lyrically to other bands who have the same if not more talent musically. well, take a famous song, you'll see they all have general broad themes, general things they say, which often apears as mysterious kind of,you know, you don't write a song by saying every little detail that crosses your mind, it just doesn't sound right and beautiful, plus details fall into the logical mind, which is the opposite of creative mind, random associations...
