  • was that palko at pitt

  • @mychaelaaa20 yep

  • Pitt didnt deserve this game. WVU got cheated out of a win in Pittsburgh which wouldve sent us to this game. I think we wouldve played Utah better than Pitt.

  • @wvmtneer96 Utah was the one that truly got cheated, although I agree WVU would have given us a better game, Pitt is shit.

  • That game was similar to the Sugar Bowl game they beat Bama though Bama 2008 team would have beaten the 2004 Pitt team

  • Utah utes will get an National Championship in 2011 since they finally joined in Pac-12!!! whooo!!

  • the knight now dies at san francisco. THE END

  • What'd I'd give to have that Alex Smith with the niners instead of whoever the hell we got

  • @ParkerGangsta

Dude, I hear ya. But keep in mind, this Alex Smith was coached by Urban Meyer and was able to throw 70%. Harbaugh will revive Alex Smith!

  • Urban Meyer recently visiting at Utah and he missed there where he used to be there. he said "The 2004 team will go down as one of the best teams I've ever been around, and we've had two great teams at Florida. It's hard to differentiate," Meyer said. "But that '04 team and the players and the complete commitment to doing it the right way. That was awesome."!

  • i don't like teams who try to cheat the system. plain and simple. do you like scam artists? you mid-major fans need to get it through your head that what happened this year has no bearing on what happened last year or the year before.

  • Wow...better days for Alex Smith back then. I bet he wishes he could go back just for the good feeling of the Fiesta Bowl again. Nobody told him the Spread offense played out with Jeff George in the 90's, as far as the pros, when he got drafted.

  • It's a shame. When I went to Pitt in the late 70's and followed them, they would crush opponents left and right for years. It's a sad picture now. They would have blown this team away! What happened?

  • They got coach Whit good with that gatorade! lol 4:49

  • I still think this team could have won the National Title.. They were unbeaten.

  • At about 3:50, you can't get much more SCHOOLED than that. Let's face it, Pitt was in a BCS game that year for one reason and one reason only: SOMEBODY had to come in first in the Big East. No offense Big East fans; I'm just being honest.

  • I can't wait to see what this rematch will be like!!

  • Someone doesn't know how to throw the ball away.

  • Pitt was garbage during this year. still...Utah's two BCS wins were miles above any BSU team.

  • @eKriZZLe

Yeah, they make some of these wins against a BCS team look easy.

  • @eKriZZLe I accidently liked this but dude you have to appreciate what boise and Tcu and Utah have all done for each other. Boise and Utah for life for me

  • @Soadsgotaload all Boise did was make mid-majors universally hated. trying to play the system to get into BCS games. Utah and TCU earned what they got.

  • @eKriZZLe Dude c'mon now all these teams like what they are doing for each other one of the first things Gary Paterson said after the rose bowl was basically I am so glad that we can help our other non AQ teams ex. boise and utah. They all like each other why can't you? and boise killed Utah this year so thats ridiculous what your saying

  • ya your right, # 1 qbs never shine, i guess payton manning, eli manning, carson palmer are all just nobody's right

  • I don't want to take anything away from Utah, because they were pretty fucking good, but, 04 Pittsburgh was the weakest fucking team to ever play in the BCS (them or 07 Illinois), I think we can agree on that. 8-4 and a FCS team took them to overtime. Plus the fact they got in on a tiebreaker from a very depleted Big East (04 was the first year without Miami and V Tech, and Cincy, The Ville and USF joined a year later).

  • man he still threw it to open receivers all game did u miss that part?

  • Urban Meyer pretty much uses the same plays at Florida 1:20, 1:30, and especially at 2:58.

  • i've realized that the top #1 QB picks in the Draft suck in their pro years

  • yea just like Michael Vick the first QB to rush for 1000 yards, Peyton and Eli Manning both superbowl MVP's, Carson Palmer who has thrown for more than 2500 yards 5 times in his career and over 3800 yards 3 times. Alex Smith is having the best year of his career come man think before u open that trap called a mouth.

  • hey dude. i'm a niner fan. i'm only agreeing with the nfl commentators who also said that #1 drafted QB's don't really shine. Look at Kurt Warner he came from Arena Football, Tom Brady, 6 round pick. Jeff Garcia, Arena Football, Mark Bulger, round 6, Drew Brees round 2,David Garrad round 4, Shaun Hill, not drafted, and look what he showed.

  • i'm just saying that a lot of #1 draft QB usually never become successful, if Alex Smith played the way he played 2 years ago Singletary would of let him go this year. just doesn't fit in the Niner Offense, he needs to be in a team where it's a spread offense, not a run offense, thats why singletary is mixing our offensive calls. he's putting some spread offense and alittle run and go for him cause thats how he played in college.

  • but if anything, if you watched Nate Davis's Preseason games, i think he has what it takes to be a Starter Next Season. cause he has good vision on the field, he has Top Recievers, and the best offensive linemen.

  • And people wonder why Smith sucks in the pros...all he does in this video is throw it to his primary receiver. No reading D's, no going through a progression. SMH

  • @gswarriorsnum1

Yea just like at 2:30 ... Dumbass!!!

  • but you must not be able to tell when somebody looks off a receiver

  • Always thought it was too bad that this Utah team got stuck playing mediocre Pitt instead of a legit power so they could prove their point. The 2008 Utah team got that chance and made the most of it by blasting Alabama.

  • which Utah team was better this one or last years?

  • This game was a joke, it was clear pitt wasn't even on the same level as the utes.

  • Pittsburgh was HIGHLY overrated. They had 3 regular season losses and went into OT vs Furman a program that most people have never heard of before.

  • i agree if we had BSU in Mtn west we would be elite

Even some of the crappier teams in the mountain west are strong like new mexico

  • Go Gators!!

  • my god, smith has such a slow, telegraphed release. i cant believe that guy went #1 overall.

  • its because he does that 'hold the football at the ear' shit that alot of coaches seem to love. They force QB's to do that like a cookie-cutter rather than keep their QB's throwing motion natural.

So what do you get? A guy who holds the ball at his ear and as he starts to throw, he cocks his back to his natural position before actually throwing it causing his arm motion to take forever.

  • Mountain West should invite Boise State into their conference, and should be a BCS conference. With BSU, Utah, BYU, TCU. that's more than enough to be more "stacked" than the Big East and ACC

  • whats the song?

  • so cold by breaking benjamin

  • thanks

  • sure

  • I believe that one of those teams joining the Pac 10- BYU, Utah, Boise State- would solve a lot of issues. It would also help out the Pac 10 with regards to the national championship run and give them some more leverage when competing against one-loss SEC teams, etc...

  • Why doesn't Utah just join the Pac 10 or even the Big 12?

  • They have to be invited, those conferences are not looking to expand

  • I believe there is talk of BYU joining the Pac-10 at some point in time.

  • 2:58 and 3:48 bad ass plays

  • Wow I feel bad for pitts qb all them sacks ;(

  • What the heck is a Ute?

  • A member of the Ute Indian tribe.

  • Notice....his tackles BLOCK FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!>.............Alex Smith is A good QB....HE just hasn't had an FAIR OPPORTUNITY>.....INJURIES HAS SET HIM BACK BIG TIME!!!!!........3-4 OFF CORD........PLAYIN' FOR THE 49ERS...who at that time(04-07) really Dosen't have GOOD TACKLES!!!!!!!

  • yeah

and he has to learn a new system each year

cuz they always get a new O.C.

  • They have a lot better O-Line now, so I hope he plays to his potential, I'm rooting for him

  • thats not even mentioning the fact of him having 4 offensive coordinators in 4 seasons. I don't care who you are, but you can't play on a busted up shoulder with a new offense to learn every year. And the year he was healthy, with a good O.C, he threw for 2890 yards with 16 touchdowns.

  • wish they could have made one of those storybook things for Utah against Bama or Boise against Oklahoma

  • WOW!!!Alex Smith actually playing good, he was proved to be a system quarterback in the NFL. Tebow is good and I think he will work out but since him and Alex Smith had the same coach it may hurt Tebow's draft status

  • actually alex smith has had serious shoulder problems the last two years. how about you join the nfl, tear a shoulder ligament and break two bones, and see how you do on the worst team in the nfl from the year before k?

  • I would i have been told not to be a candyass and play threw the pain. Besides Shaun Hill is way better of a quarterback and the offensive line was worse this year and he put up better numbers than Smith ever did. When Smith's best season is 16TDs and 16 Ints that tells you hes a flop like Ryan Leaf,Reggie Bush,Jemarcus Russell,Matt Leinart, and Darren McFadden

  • Good to hear. because that is exactly what he did. most of last year. But he finally decided that playing through the pain for nothing, not even a shot at the playoffs is just even worse for his shoulder and therefore useless. It's also good that you know how to spell through.

  • That was mostly Trent Dilfer last year but injury proneness makes you even more of a flop. If you can't stay healthy like this year, last year and his rookie season. What use are you. It just makes you one of the highest paid benchwarmers in america. I don't want to trade him because he has potential to get better but Hill is the QB that the 49ers need right now. A guy who hits his receivers, makes up for mistakes, and dosn't let his career up untill this year slow him down

  • I gotta agree completely with the shaun hill thing they do need him right now, thats a smart choice for the time being

  • I think Hill has been riding the back seat to long it is time to let him drive and hopefully he can shift gears into making the 49ers of old reappear in the late 2000's early 2010's

  • ryan leaf is the biggest flop of all. mcfadden has had some injuries, same with reggie bush, and russell is on a horrible team. and matt leinarts time may come in the future, who knows

  • McFadden can't be a bust. You can never be a bust after one season, unless you have a career ending injury.

  • Im a shaun hill fan boy and im happy about the heart hes brought to the game, but i think if alex proves his worth, he deserves the job. If he keeps trying and doesnt give up, ill be proud to have Alex Smith as the starter.

  • Man, I remember that opening "cinderella" theme. Good stuff. Although in hindsight, that storybook was for Boise. Utah was a true powerhouse that year, and Pitt was a average team from a bad conference.

  • ALEX SMITH LOOKS SEXY

  • Transition from Mountain Western Conference to the NFL with a horrible offensive line, would be difficult for anyone. Alex is smart and will be successful after football!

  • This video shows the kind of QB Smith is. Stupid Nolan failed to use him properly and ruined his career. Poor kid. I truly hope Smith gets picked up by a real coach and comes back. I am a niners fan but I agree, Nolan sucks ass. Go Smith!

  • Nolan was the best thing to happen to the niners since mariucci and now singletary is the best thing to happen since nolan. dont just talk just to talk. alex made progress when norv was there, but once he left he had to start all over again with another OC. the injuries is what put his career on hold. i think he we can keep an oc for more than one season alex may start to sprout as a qb. IM a niners fan, not you.

  • funniest part of this game: kirk herbstreit and mark may both picked pitt to win. they never do research and are so biased/ignorant against the mt west. i specifically recall mark may saying "tyler palko will have a great game and pitt will win." if great game=eating grass all night, then sure!

  • well Mark May must have been smoking grass all night

  • @ Half - What bias? This was the first monumental win for a non BCS conference in a BCS bowl game. I mean, Alex Smith did place 5th in Hiesman voting but c'mon they had a soft schedule that season.

  • Urban > Nolan

  • see what happens when smith has a good coach behind him that trusts him more than anybody. Unlike sf.. they have questioned him from day 1 and he has had 3 diff OC's... wtf did they think would happen?

  • agreed

  • Go Utes

    Wow Got QB Every Play

    Clasic

  • pitt didnt even look like it had a line that wasent even fair

  • pitt will be back just like the marino and dorsett days

  • What song is playing?

  • So Cold by Breaking Benjamin

  • @nikomir Good choice... I rarely say that!

  • @xclement1

"Don't take my breath away" by Nigga please

  • 12 and 0 baby... best year ever

  • go utes

  • And they FUCKED them up hella!

  • DAMN UTAH FUCKED PITT UP.
