women actually dont need to do pushups on their knees... a leading female fitness instructor told me this... in karate we always let them kneel in a push up... not anymore... they are just as capable as males to do a push up...lol
In regards to the chest touching the full, does it have to be like a pushup (all the pressure on arms and legs)? Or is it OK to rest your chest on the floor for a moment?
Okay, I am officially confused on correct burpee form. I see some demos where you squat, hands hit floor, then feet kick back to plank, pushup, feet kick back to squat position, and jump. I see others where people just kind of "throw themselves" to the floor (IE: feet kick back to plank from upright position before hands touch the floor) pushup, kick back in and jump.
@bad33inltz both....depends on what the "rules" are. Sometimes its as simple as "standing to chest and legs to deck to jumping/clap overhead" which leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
@bad33inltz What I have learned through crossfitting over the last 5 years is that regardless of exactness, you're still moving the same amount of weight the same amount of distance. The two things that are requirements of a burpee, chest hits the deck, jump as high as possible.

Are you suppose to jump as high as you can?
I've watched many crossfit videos with burpees, and they really seem like slight "hops" to me.
Can someone explain to me?
Do you jump as high as you possibly can with explosive strength?
Or is it a slight hop, and trying to immediately get back into the "squat, hands down" and "plank" position?

@tobey099
yeah, because if you can't do something perfectly the first time, you really shouldn't try at all. that's how fitness works, right?

If that woman can do muscleups then I would bet money she can do more pushups than you can.

@toby099 depends on the women, some of them are machines when it comes to push up's, others not so much.

Which is correct, or are both acceptable?

the first one is considered correct form, those other people are lazy or misinformed. :)
