The Hueghenotes french? Hueghenote comes from Huysghenoten(Flemish or Dutch) means members of the House of God so these were Flemish of NOW the north of France, but still called Flanders! So also these people were part of The Netherlands!

The word "Hueghenotes (Hugenoten) has nothing to do with the Dutch word Huysghenoten (huisgenoten).

The meaning of the word is a bit unclear but it can come from "Besançon Hugues" , "Eidgenossen" or (and that is most probably from the French word "Le Hugon" what means bad spirit/ghost.

the VOC came many years later to stop the competitors and be one strong company against other countries, The most important trade was with the East sea about Grain.

The WIC was the fleet to destroy other fleets like the gold fleet. The most important trade was the trade with Grain in the East Sea and believe me the VOC was a cause of the Golden Age.
