If you want to see socialism that works in real life look at the examples of Kerala, Belo Horizonte, Chiapas and the experiments of La Via Campesino and its allies. They have done very well socially and ecologically. "Human nature" is a convenient excuse to argue against meaningful change. Human nature has good and bad aspects and people adopt to fit in whatever system they are in. Certainly Raj's lecture is worthy of 1 hour, whether people agree fully with him or not. After watching this video lecture, invest some time to reading the many insightful and challenging comments people have written below the video. This shows the video has stimulated dialog that we need.

This speech is full of inaccuracys and bad assumptions (all the ifs). However he did get one thing right, the problem is government policys. Yes, the market does create the prices. No government can fight the market and win. USSR tried it and went bankrupt, after starving for decades. Government only knows mismanagement.

This year we had the 2nd highest crop output in the history of humanity. Food is cheap and we have lots of choices. As a percentage of population less people are starving.

Food is cheap for wealthy countries if amnesia takes care of the ecocide costs. Monoculture like the Soviet attempt at communism is never a good idea and free markets are for invariably neither free or markets.
