  • I'm from Kentucky, but my youth was spent in Logan County (1958-1972). We lived in Mt. Gay and West Logan. This song brings a tear to my eye. I remember singing this as a young boy, and my dad used to sing it (he is now gone.) Thanks for the memory!

  • I knew this song in about the 3rd grade then went off on a rocket trip. Home is always home.

  • I'm a West Virginian born and bred from Logan County. Growing up we lived out of state for a while and I remember staring out the back of the car window as we left WV. While the tears flowed down my face like one of the mountain streams I sang this song until we crossed over the bridge in to Ohio. It was a promise to WV and to myself that I would be back and no matter where I roamed I would always think of home. I roamed far and wide in the Navy and never forgot WV.

  • This song brings me great memories! It has a been a tradition that everytime we cross the state line traveling back to visit we sing this song.

  • I remember learning this song when I was going to Whitehall Elementary School. West Virginia born and bred! Even if I now live in Florida, I am a Mountaineer in flesh, blood, and bone forever.

  • Does anyone know what the rock formation is at 2:22? When I saw it in the video I suddenly realized I been their once when I was kid. Any idea what its called or where its at?

  • @40AcreMule I believe this is Bear Town Rocks...

  • @pizzaguy1975 I goofed. The rocks I meant are at 2:23, 2:24. They have to be in North Central WV where I grew up. Beartown State Park is too far south. Never been there.

  • I grew up in Maryland outside of DC and have now been living in West Virginia for almost 5 years. There's nowhere I'd rather call home. This is the greatest state in the nation and the greatest people in the world. I've never felt more at home than I have in my time in this beautiful state.

  • God Bless WV and long live mountaineers! I miss you WV and will return one day soon :)

  • I hate cold weather, but West Virginia is so beautiful
