An introduction to Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana

Leander "Judge" Perez was a corrupt demagogue. He had elections falsified, putting names like Babe Ruth on the ballot. He bribed voters too. In this video, he is proven to be a demagogue. He made all sorts of claims against Black people such as claiming they weren't "fit to vote". He ran a dictatorship basically.

@Upcamehill I know about "Judge" Leander Perez. I don't want anyone to bring him back. He was a racist and a corrupt politician. As an African-American and a Catholic, I'm glad he isn't the political boss anymore. He closed down a Catholic school because it decided to admit African-American students. He tried to keep Black people from voting. He was basically a corrupt, racist dictator. In fact, the USA before 1964 was a bad place for Black people.

You have to remember, back in 1980 when this was filmed, white supremacy ruled in Plaquemines Parish. These people were hated & discriminated against. If they didn't hunt or fish for their food, they didn't eat. They weren't allowed to eat at the 4 or 5 white people only restaurants that were open then. The local grocery stores discriminated against them also. Perez's iron fist made these people's lives miserable.

If Perez ruled in New Orleans, the city would be totally different & civil today. I'm lucky to have been raised in Macon Georgia, black people were accepted back then & today.
