Whenever i try coloring or using the gradient fill tool inside the lines after using the fuzzy select tool, there's a thin white line between the lines and color... can someone help me???
Love your vids, the calm approach, the amusing language. Like I said on the other one, I hate the idea of the slow drawing of vectors, but I'm going to follow all your tutorials anyway. Theyr'e really nicely done.
I feel like the beginning is unneccessary. If you select the white background, invert the selection, use the selection To Path tool, and you should get the path you created rather easilly. Then just stroke that path.
Definitely one of the easiest to follow tutorials for a beginner like myself. I shall continue to watch this man's tutorials as I hope to learn how to use this program to my best ability.

Why using the wand tool to fill it with color? It would look better if you stroke the path on a new transperent layer, select from the path, and fill the selection on a new layer UNDER the stroked layer thingy.
good information and nice tutorial, only odd part about it is i think you waste to much time (only seconds, but seconds are a lot on youtube) adjusting and mumbling about how your points (handles or anchors or w/e) arent perfect...lol....just a minor criticism that isnt related to the information on paths.....
@VanillaCamillaa YOU JUST WASTED time adding commentary on shit that has nothing to do wit the purpose of this video. as a result i've commented which now makes two. ONE dumb ass gesture leads to multiple foolishness.
Thank you, I give u props on this beginners tut, hard to find. For instance, anyone can can perfect there education like going to college, many places to choose from, But often it is hard to start elementary. - to the haters... don't take this literary. As a beginner I appreciate the tutorial.
The demonstrations are so easy to do, you can simply open your canvas and keep practicing while the lecture is going on. I find these videos many times more helpful than the help manual in GIMP and the notes below the video aids in improving your performance. Keep it up! You at least need to open the GIMP program rather than simply watching it like a couch potato.

Well for someone who has done this before this may have been a little basic....however for someone like myself who is trying to learn a completely new skill this was an AWESOME video. Most tutorials assume you already have an idea of what your doing and they dont start from basics or explain every step....I like learning things from the ground up because once I have all the pieces I can put the puzzle together myself...Personally I really appreciated this tutorial!!!!
@Aurelius6299 I don't really understand your sarcasm, but you're probably making a valid point. Would you care to clarify it a little more? I'm no expert and would appreciate your constructive feedback.
@malgalin Rendering is basically cutting out a figure or a person from a larger image. In order to get a clear cut out without an outline or fuzzy features, you sometime have to zoom in as much as 600% to 800% in order to get the most precise edge of the image you're cutting out. Granted this sometimes Pixelizes the area you're viewing, it is necessary to get a good cut.
@malgalin I'm no graphic design artist by any means. However, when I do design for the web often I have two views of the same image open in gimp (View->New View) one at regular zoom (100%) on an extra monitor and one extremely zoomed in at say 800% that I'm editing on my main monitor. So, for me, 150% is not that out of the ordinary.
@Aurelius6299 if you don't like it so much then why are you watching it? That's not very well thought out, it's a really good video if you ask me, and I love British accents ;D
@malgalin Wait Wait Wait, You Saying I haved to do it in strait lines?? but what about when i haved to do it diagonal?? lol man. i only downloaded dis yesterday...
HEY MAN! I DONE THIS AWWSOME PICTURE ON GIMP AND ITS GOOD. I PUT IT ON THIS WEBSITE ERR DEVIANTART. PLEASE CAN U ADD ME ON IT AND TELL ME IF ITZ ALL RIGHT? THANK YHOOO! USERNAMES: x-pert-x
@kieran481 You don't have anything on Deviant Art, Kieran. If you must type in ALL CAPS (which is really annoying) at least do it to publicize something you have actually done and people can see. Otherwise it is just a waste of time for all involved :)
@kieran481 kk lol. btw i wasnt havin ago at u. so its not on deviantart? thats weird. ill try make a vid of just that image and put it on yt. really want to know if theres anything wrong with it or if i can change it,
@kieran481 Deviant art is a good place to upload to and I do recommend it - I noticed on your Dev Art page you were having trouble uploading .xcf files? If you save it as a PNG or JPG file it will upload fine. Let me know if you have trouble changing the file format.
I usually hate watching tutorial videos because most of the people doing such videos try to aim for entertainment as well. You though keep straight to the point and provide all the details in simple terms as well; a fantastic job.
I thoroughly enjoy your tutorial Path2 (part2 2 of vector art series. I am new to GIMP and I find your tutorial has been a big big BIG help! Tahnk you.
I tried to put a gradient colour on a headstand yoga pose but despite my following your tut correctly, I could not do it. I can do use the colour gradient tool on 3 simple closed paths inside each other though.
What do you think my trouble is? I can senan .xfc file.
dont worry about the low quality image, we get that you have to fit it in laik 10 minutes. I got the gist of it and thess videos are extremely helpful
Thanks for this great tutorial! I do have one question, however. When I use the magic wand tool to select the area inside my shape, and then fill the shape with the gradiant... there is a white edge along my lines. Is there a way to eliminate this white space?
every time i try to stroke paths, Microsoft says there's an error report... i went to msconfig, and turned error reporting off, but it still wont work! so i cant do it, and im sad :'(.
That seriusly suck.. But I have an Idea.. You can minimize the selection until it's just about 1 pixels wide, and the feather the selection by 1 or 2 pixels and then fill the selection :D Should create the desired result.
I have a question. When tracing an art using the curves, I have a tendency to press "A" (a habit I got from a shortcut from Blender which selects/deselects all). When I do that, it selects another tool and all those time consuming curves disappear. Is there any way to save the curves? I mean, I can't even CTRL-Z to bring my curves back, it's so annoying!

I`ve subscribed because you work at a sensible speed and explain as you proceed.
Many of the so-called tutorials are made by children (usually American) who work at a breakneck speed and gabble and mumble.
Keep up the good instructive work. I`ve already picked up a couple of shortcuts I didn`t know just from this one tutorial.

You can set your own short-cut keys in the preferences menu. You need to check the dynamic shortcuts box to do this.
Of course you need to be areful when assigning new functions that you don't get rid of useful ones!
